New Hairdo + Non Profit Program

Mia Recently got her haircut while talking about her Non Profit Program (@respitecaresa) which is caring for Children with Special Needs. Mia grew up with the cognitive disability community by coaching Special Olympics + watching her grandparents & parents care for her Uncle with Down Syndrome! Becoming a woman, I’ve gone through many stages of life. I have been a prepubescent girl, a young over-achieving adult, a mother, an exiled family member, mental health patient, and an institutionalized patient. Now, I am a free, independent, clear-headed woman.

I’ve felt the need to scavenge for gratefulness in every stage of life. But when I started to look around, I was overwhelmed by the gratitude I collected. This gratitude transforms itself into grace, but how do I use it?

All of the gratitude I pick up, I put on a shelf. I seldom pick it up in search of more to be grateful for. So when I came back to this shelf, I observe my treasures. I hesitate to touch these gems and begin counting my blessings instead. In these moments, I feel abundance. I sit with these blessings, this abundance. These blessings breathe life, forgiveness, and, most of all, grace into me.

I realize now that allowing myself to smell, feel, see, and simply just be has allowed me to truly recognize + discover who I am + who I was never meant to be.
