What is a police officer.A police officer is someone who enforces the law and makes sure people follow it.For my essay I decide that for my research project I wanted to choose something in law enforcement, because I am really interseted in being a police officer because it looks like a cool and interesting job..I was not sure if I wanted to be a police officer or a detective or something else but when i looked into it more I decided that it was the right thing for me.I thought that it was the right thing for me because since i was a little kid i was always interested in law enforcement.when i was younger i would always say that i wanted to be a firefighter or a police or S.W.A.T officer, also when i was younger i like to watch a lot of TV shows about law enforcement like COPS,DEA,CSI,and many others. One other reason that i think the career of a police officer would be good for me is because i like to be active and i like to be out doors alot and i think that i would not feel comfortable in an office job because i would get really bored and i think that i would be stressed out all the time. One other reason why i think this job is good for me is because i like to help people that are in need and that need help and because i get a good feeling after i help someone. One of the main reasons that i would like to have this job is because i do not have to study or go to school alot.I say this because to become apolice officer you only need a high school diploma. This is one of the many benefits of this job because i do not like to study.Although I only need a high school diploma to become a police officer I plan on getting my Associates degree or a

In the future, I would like to become a Crime Scene detective. The love for mystery solving and crime had always attracted me to law enforcement. Solving the case and catching the criminals makes the rush, including experience a million times better. As a child I watched many CSI shows and action movies which quickly attracted to me to the field of criminal justice. Due to this I remember getting into character and searching my household shadowing what detectives in the shows would do. By the age of ten years old I could recite the Miranda Rights to my toys and felt that I was ready to fight crime in the real world. My love for mystery solving grew when I was fascinated by being able to identify someone with a piece of hair or finger print....show more content...

I am wearing my evenly ironed blazer and have a confident look on my face however, I cannot look away from my shiny CSI badge placed on my belt. Along the corner of my desk there is a fancy name tag that reads "Detective Cantu" as I admire it more I think about the long journey that I had to get to the place I am. Next thing you know I'm about to start on my first case. Once I arrive to the scene of the crime everything seems unreal the front the door was forced open and there is a trail of blood that leads to the living room. The victim was a student in the nearby university in her early 20s, blonde hair, green eyes and has a tattoo located in her lower back. She had hand marks in her neck and broken finger nails which means she put up a fight with her killer. The victim was shot in her abdomen and died as she lost all her blood. Around the room there were picture frames and broken alcohol bottle scattered around. Later that afternoon when I finished taking all the evidence I needed it was time to question our suspects. Person after person I kept on getting closer to solve the mystery of who did it. No later than that same week I finally caught the killer responsible for the death of the college student. This same man was planning to target many other girls that he said turned him down and humiliated him in front of many other students on campus. Once I arrested this man studies showed that

Why I Want To Be A Police Officer

During one of the first days in class every cadet was asked why they were at the academy and why they wanted to be a police officer. My initial response to that question was that I wanted to help others. However, I would like to make clear what I meant by this, and point out that even though helping others remains being the primary objective, it is not the exclusive reason for wanting to be a police officer. Helping others remains being my primary reason, followed by the desire to have a divers career and by the benefits that are associated with being a police officer.

Helping Others

Police work is really unique in the fact that police officers help people every day, even when the officer or the public doesn't realize that this is happening. This can be achieved in a variety of ways including prevention of victimization, or even helping criminals make better choices.

Saving victims

Every interaction with the public, every ticket/citation given, every response to a domestic violence call can potentially save a life. Helping others does not necessarily mean pulling someone out of a burning building/vehicle, or taking a bullet to save another. Even though many police officers do help...show more content...

However, the salary of a police officer is not entirely bad; police officers make a decent living. In addition, there are other benefits that make police work even more attractive. 25 year retirement plans, promotion opportunities, health benefits, and even tuition assistance; and these are only the tangible benefits of being a police officer. In addition, and in my opinion one of the best attributes of the job is the satisfaction of doing something that you know makes a difference in peoples' lives. As mentions in the introduction, helping people remains my primary objective; and the satisfaction of doing so is the best compensation that comes from police
