Chiller

•2 - 100-ton Trane Chillers purchased in 2006 provide cooling for the entire 1st floor, with 2 20-horsepower pumps and 1 15-horsepower back up pump.

• 1 5-ton rooftop chiller provides backup cooling for vivarium when Chillers goes down.

Air Handlers

•A HU 1 (15000 cfm) supplies heating and cooling to the vivarium only.

•A HU 2 (20000) supplies heating and cooling to the entire lab block space •B oth units have a cooling valve for the chilled water and a hot water valve for the heating. Each unit has a heat recovery coil to capture free heating and cooling when the temperatures outside apply.

•A HU 3 provides 3000 cfm of air to vivarium when AHU 1 goes down on static pressure.

Fan coil units

•2 0 fan coil units supply heating and cooling to office area controlled by a thermostat.

Building Management System

•P remises are controlled by a Niagara web-based system with Johnson and Belimo controllers and actuators.

Win DSX security system

•C ontrols all doors and freezer alarms.

Emergency generator

•2 50 KW generator supplies E-power to all emergency outlets in lab block and back up chiller and air handler for the vivarium.

Steam boilers

•T he high-pressure boiler was purchased in 2018 and provides steam to the autoclaves and cage/small washer for sterilization and hot water boost.

•T he low-pressure boiler provides humidification to 14 humidifiers in the vivarium.

•T here is a Spirax/Sarco pressure reducer off the highpressure side to reduce to 12 psi for humidification in case of emergency.

Hot water boilers

• ( 3) PK boilers provides hot water to all AHU’s, reheats and fan coil units for heat.
