A note from the Director

When I first read The Last Plastic Straw, I was struck by its heartfelt urgency and playful energy. It tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time—climate change—through the fearless, determined voices of young people. It’s also deeply hopeful. Through animated characters like Sir Antony Battenburg Biscuit, we’re reminded that humour and heart can be powerful tools in driving change.

From the outset, we knew this production needed to embody the values it champions. Our cast has not only explored the themes of protest, ocean pollution, and climate justice, but also embraced the spirit of sustainability and collaboration in every part of the process. Using recycled and repurposed materials— turning waste into something wonderful. This practical, creative challenge brought the group closer together and highlighted the power of resourcefulness and teamwork, allowing our young performers to bring their own energy, ideas, and voices to the forefront.

To the audience: may this performance remind you that even small actions, when taken together, can create a tidal wave of change.

Their message is clear: the time for action is now, and they are not waiting for permission to make a difference.

Enjoy the show!
