Welcome everyone to the CYCC Summer shows which celebrate the talents and skills of the participants who attend our weekly sessions.
This year all our CYCC sessions have been focused on devising, presenting a variety of issues and topics that will make you think, question, laugh and drive you to be moved by their insight and interpretation.
An opportunity for the theatre makers of today and the future to voice their opinions about imagination, entertainment, life, social media, identity, growing up, politics and the world we live in.
CYCC Musical Theatre 7-9’s Interpretation of SCHOOL OF ROCK, although a licenced performance, is told just as creatively with humour, movement, comedy, song, drama and engaging techniques that will have you on the edge of your seats. Are you ready for CYCC and the young talent on our stages!
Well done everyone!
We hope you enjoy the show and seeing their ideas realised on stage

CYCC MUSICAL THEATRE 7-9
For this year’s production, our 7 to 9 company were eager to take on the challenge of a licensed musical, building on last years’ experience of creating and performing an original piece. After exploring a range of options, we chose SCHOOL OF ROCK as a way of aligning their growing performance skills with a story that champions individuality, confidence, and collaboration.
This year’s wider focus has been celebrating the work of Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The choice for SCHOOL OF ROCK was based on offering something equally valuable for this group: a chance to explore character, storytelling, and musicality through a contemporary, high-energy score that demands commitment, precision, and personality.
Throughout the rehearsal process, we have worked to bring together acting, singing, and movement into one cohesive performance. The company have embraced the challenge of learning scripts, developing harmonies, and tackling choreography, all within a short timeframe. Most importantly, they have grown in confidence, supporting one another and stepping into the spotlight as individuals while functioning as a strong ensemble.
This production is a celebration of their hard work, their individuality, and their willingness to take creative risks. We hope you enjoy watching them as much as we have enjoyed shaping this piece with them.
