Welcome everyone to the CYCC Summer shows which celebrate the talents and skills of the participants who attend our weekly sessions.

This year all our CYCC sessions have been focused on devising, and tonight’s performance is the outcome of those explorations. Presenting a variety of issues and topics that will make you think, question, laugh and drive you to be moved by their insight and interpretation.

An opportunity for the theatre makers of today and the future to voice their opinions about imagination, entertainment, life, social media, identity, growing up, politics and the world we live in.

Told creatively with humour, movement, comedy, song, drama and engaging techniques that will have you on the edge of your seats. Are you ready for CYCC and the young talent on our stages!

A journey through time, beginning in the vibrant 1980s and unfolding to the present day. We meet Dot - a quiet outsider longing for connection but never quite able to hold onto it. As time passes, moments of everyday life flicker around her; connections forming, drifting, and reshaping while the world continues to move forward.

Through movement, the piece explores the human need to belong, showing how the smallest gesture can connect us all. At the centre of the show lies a message of empathy, encouraging us all to look beyond ourselves and recognise the value of kindness, compassion, and human connection.

The vision behind Life of Dot was to share another side to the stories of people often ignored in society; the lonely, the quieter individuals, or those perceived as ‘grumpy’ or disconnected, and to question what experiences may have shaped them. Throughout the creative process, the young performers explored the idea that life is not always linear and that everyone deserves understanding and care.

We would also like to congratulate all of the young people involved for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. It has been a joy creating and moving alongside them, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.

CURVE YOUNG COMMUNITY COMPANY Our Curve Young Community Company (CYCC) is for young people aged 5 – 19 years with an interest and passion for performing arts.

Our members meet regularly at Curve to develop their skills, have fun, make new friends, and develop their understanding of the industry alongside professional artists and creative teams. Participants also have the opportunity to perform on our stages in productions and be involved in special events at Curve and as part of our Made at Curve productions. Our Curve Youth and Community Companies (CYCC) are open to all and there are opportunities for every level of experience.
