a season for all Dear Friends, This season, we joyfully celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Aronoff Center, which first opened its doors in October 1995. The Aronoff was built as a home for the arts in Cincinnati – a place where artists and audiences of all backgrounds can come together to explore, connect, and belong. The CAA Presents! 2025-26 “Season for All” reflects our commitment to offering performances that spark imagination, bridge generations, and celebrate the richness of global cultures. Whether this is your first visit or you’ve been with us for all thirty years, we are delighted to welcome you. We hope this season inspires new memories while also recalling past experiences that have moved you, challenged you, or stayed with you long after the curtain fell. Thank you for supporting the arts. Because of you, Cincinnati’s creative spirit continues to grow and flourish. We are so glad you are here. Enjoy the show,
Steve Loftin President & CEO

Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar and Ballet Folklorico del Rio Grande are proudly represented by Marian Liebowitz Artist Management
BIOS Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar has enchanted audiences with their dynamic musicianship and lively stage presence for over thirty years. Founded in 1994 by Jaime Cuéllar, Mariachi Garibaldi’s commitment to providing a quality representation of the mariachi genre has propelled them into becoming one of Los Angeles most recognized Mariachis and arguably in California. Under the direction of Jimmy “El Pollo” Cuéllar, son of Jaime Cuéllar, Mariachi Garibaldi is considered one of the leading Mariachi ensembles regularly called upon to share the stage with some of Mexico’s most beloved performers such as The Aguilar Family: Pepe, Angela and Leonardo, Juan Gabriel, Alejandro Fernandez, Pedro Fernandez, Espinoza Paz, Paquita del Barrio, Aida Cuevas, Ana Barbara, Graciela Beltran, Maria Elena Beltran, Yolanda del Rio, Mercedes Castro, Beatriz Adriana, Empress Of, and Armenian pop star Lilit Hovhannisyan. Most recently Most recently Mariachi Garibaldi were featured performers for Camila Cabello’s Tiny Desk concert performing “La Buena Vida,” truly displaying that mariachi music transcends across all platforms. Their elevated musicianship has also opened invitations to perform on prestigious stages to sold out crowds, such as the Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, Teatro Degollado, The Soraya, The John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, Bakersfield Fox Theatre, The Chandler Center for the Arts, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Tempe Cente for the Arts and The Gallo Center for the Arts. Mariachi Garibaldi has entertained thousands of people at sold out venues. And was a key element in the Mitu Network to recreate Disney’s Beauty and the Beast’s “Tale As Old As Time” which catapulted their professional career and became a viral video with over 16 million views. Their ornate mariachi jacket became a commodity of trade when Dodger pitcher Joe Kelly wore it with honor at the White House. Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar (Artistic Director) Jimmy Cuellar is originally from Bakersfield, California, and began his mariachi career as a teenager alongside his father Jaime Cuellar and was a founding member of Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuellar. His dedication to his musical craft drove “El Pollo” to fine-tune his skills on the violin, guitarron, vihuela, guitar, and guitarra de golpe, securing him a ten-year tenure with Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano. In subsequent years, Jimmy accompanied well known Latin recording artists Yolanda del Rio, Mercedes Castro, Humberto Herrera, Lila Downs, Vikki Carr, Aida Cuevas, Eugenia Leon, and Jose Feliciano as well as has been an instrumental member in various recoding productions, including the 2010 release of Ry Cooder and The Chieftains, San Patricio. (Continued on next page)
Beginning In 2005, Jimmy saw Grammy success when he was a featured artist on the Grammy Award winning album cELLAbration: A Tribute to Ella Jenkins. The following year Llegaron Los Camperos: Concert Favorites of Nati Cano’s Mariachi Los Camperos received a Grammy nomination for “Best Mexican Album”. In 2008, he added to his Grammy success with Cien Por Ciento Mexicano by Pepe Aguilar with 2009 rounding out a Grammy award to add to his mantle for Best Regional Mexican Album with Amor, Dolor, y Lagrimas. Composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, three-time Grammy Award-nominated and three time Grammy Award-winner, Jimmy understands the importance of education. Having received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach’s Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in 2009, “El Pollo” decided to continue his musical education and enroll with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he is pursuing a Masters in Music Composition. His talents as an educator as well as nationally-regarded expert in the genre have earned Jimmy a yearly seat as an adjudicator for the statewide Mariachi Competition held in Texas. Mr. Cuéllar is the director of the mariachi program at Redlands Univesity and the director of the new school CUE Music, in Montebello, CA, where he teaches classes on mariachi and other genres of Mexican music. Ballet Folklórico del Rio Grande (BFRG), under the direction of Miguel Peña, is a thirtymember organization comprised of alumni of the internationally recognized collegiate folklórico program offered at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. UTRGV offers the only folklórico dance major in the United States and produces the wellspring of highly skilled professional dancers that comprise BFRG. With numerous state, national, and international concerts under their belt, they have been showcased at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performance Arts in Washington, D.C. for four consecutive years. BFRG has toured the world visiting countries such as Canada, France, Italy, Argentina, and Mexico. Their recent international work includes performances in Santiago, Argentina, and Tamaulipas, Mexico. BFRG has also performed nationwide for important artists such as Los Tigres del Norte and Aida Cuevas. They now partner with Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar for joint shows celebrating all aspects of Mexican culture, including the Día de Los Muertos and Christmas holidays. Ballet Folklorico del Rio Grande (Artistic Director) Miguel Peña, originally from Reynosa Mexico, is the first tenure-track Professor of Folklórico Dance in the United States, running the only Ballet Folklórico dance major at a U.S. University (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley-UTRGV). In addition to his elite ensemble of student dancers at UTRGV, he runs Ballet Folklórico del Rio Grande (BFRG), a professional ensemble featuring the best graduates of the UTRGV program. BFRG, Miguel currently partners with Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar creating joint shows for worldwide touring. Miguel is a 2023 Othli Award recipient, a coveted recognition presented by the Instituto de Los Mexicano en el Exterior. Miguel also has worked as a dancer with “Espectaculo Jarocho” under the direction of Richard O’Neal (former Assistant Director of Riverdance), where he was part of the ensemble for more than five years. He has worked nationally and internationally setting choreographic works for different dance companies such as the BYU Folk Dance Ensemble, Ballet Folklórico Nacional de Milwaukee, Ballet Folklórico de Austin, and several Rio Grande Valley folklórico groups. He has choreographed special performances throughout the nation for important artists such as Tigres del Norte, Paquita la del Barrio, Vikki Carr, Aida Cuevas, and renowned mariachi ensembles such as Vargas de Tecalitlán and Sol de Mexico. In 2016 and 2018, the UTRGV Ballet Folklórico received national recognition at the National conference of the American Dance College Association under his artistic direction presenting their work at the John F. Kennedy for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. He is currently working at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he directs the Ballet Folklórico program, presenting his work all over the United States and other countries such as Mexico and Argentina. Miguel holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Also a graduate of the University of Texas-Pan American (B.S. and M.S. and in Electrical Engineering), Miguel was the first recipient of a full scholarship awarded by the UT-Pan American Dance Department.
