Your guide to local camps for kids

Here is a list of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center programs this summer in Zionsville. For more information on these and other camps visit www.sullivanmunce.org. • How Artists See - June 1519, June 22-29, or July 27-31 - Author Colleen Carroll’s engaging, conversational books, How Artists See is filled with thought-provoking questions and imaginative activities that spark children’s natural curiosity both about the subject of the artwork and about the way it was created. We will be exploring ways artists see the world around them such as How Artists Sere Animals, How Artists See People and How People See the Weather. New activities and projects each week. • Ages 4-6 • 2:30 - 5 pm (Monday - Friday) • $80/$105 (member/non-member) • snack provided • Youth Art & Science Camps - June 15-19, June 22-29, or July 2731 - Have fun with projects and activities that enhance creativity and imagination while fostering creative research, engineering and design. Focuses on the visual aspects of science. • Ages 7-11

• 9 am - 5 pm (Monday - Friday) • $190/$215 (member/non-member) • snack provided; bring sack lunch • Drawings, Painting and Sculpture - June 1-5, July 6-10 or August 3-7 - Travel to China, Japan and India and discover the art and artistry of ancient Asia while creating works of art including fish kites, prints, ink paintings, bronze vessels and jade jewelry! Half of our day will be geared toward art projects and the other half will be spent in the clay studio discovering clay through hand building and working on the pottery wheel. • Ages 7-11 • 9 am - 5 pm (Monday - Friday) • $325/$350 (member/non-member) • snack provided; bring sack lunch • Youth Clay Camp - June 8-12, July 13-17 or July 20-24 - In this introduction to the world of ceramics, learn the hand building techniques of coiling clay and working with slabs, plus the basics of throwing on the wheel. Campers will also become familiar with how to glaze and fire their creations. This camp is great for the beginning or experienced camper. Just bring your sense of adventure and plan to get dirty! • Ages 7-11 • 9 am - Noon (Monday - Friday) • $160/$185 (member/non-member) • snack provided • Teen Drawing and Painting - June 8-12, July 13-17 or July 20-24 - This class will focus on developing and strengthening drawing skills with a series of fun exercises using classical techniques to train

the eye and hand to work in harmony. Learn the concept of enhancing, drawings using watercolor washes and colored pencils. We will work from photographs and life. No experience necessary. • Ages 12-17 • 9 am - Noon (Monday - Friday) • $130/$155 (member/non-member) • snack provided • Teen Mixed Media - June 8-12, July 13-17 or July 20-24 - Learn how to combine more than one medium into your contemporary artwork. Painting, printmaking, found objects and oil pastel over paint will transform your work into a multi-dimensional masterpiece! Campers will have a chance to experiment with different mediums to enhance their work. No experience necessary. • Ages 12-17 • 1 pm - 4 pm (Monday - Friday) • $130/$155 (member/non-member) • snack provided • Teen Clay Camp - June 8-12, July 13-17 or July 20-24 - This camp goes in-depth into the intricacies of throwing. Campers will also get the chance to express their creativity in the selection and application of glazes. This camp is great for the beginning or experienced camper. Just bring your sense of adventure and plan to get dirty! All supplies included. • Ages 12-17 • 1 - 4 pm (Monday - Friday) • $160/$185 (member/non-member) • snack provided
