Business partners: Trump a ‘perfect gentleman’

Like most politicians, Donald Trump has made a lot of lofty promises on the campaign trail.

But unlike his fellow presidenPOLITICS tial candidates, he is likely to keep them, at least in the eyes of two local businessmen who worked with him to purchase one of the most recognizable buildings in New York City.

Steve Hilbert, president and CEO of Sterling Investors Life Insurance Co. and former CEO of Rollie Dick Conseco, and Rollie Dick, former CFO of Conseco, partnered with Trump on the 1998 purchase of New York City’s General Motors Building. Conseco and Trump bought the building for $878 million, and it sold in 2003 for $1.4 billion.

That experience began a friendship and gave Hilbert and Dick their first glimpse of Trump’s drive and work ethic. “We would both say without any hesitation that Donald Trump was the greatest operating partner we ever had,� Hilbert said. “Donald set (expectations) high – that were somewhat in disbelief – and then he exceeded it.�

Hilbert, a Carmel resident, and Trump kept in touch regularly, at least until recently. But even in the midst of the campaign trail, Trump reached out to Hilbert when he heard from his wife – who heard from Hilbert’s wife – that Hilbert had completed the purchase of Sterling Investors Life Insurance. “Donald called Steve from the campaign trail to congratulate him,� Dick said.

wasn’t right. He didn’t take Trump too seriously when he brought up the idea again, but once he committed Hilbert knew he was in it to win. “He doesn’t do anything half-(way), so (when) he jumped in the ring, he was going to go the whole 15 rounds,� Hilbert said.

While Trump might be described as someone who says exactly what’s on his mind, Dick, a Zionsville resident, said his experience with Trump has been nothing but pleasant. “Donald is a perfect gentleman in normal, everyday conversation,� he said.

Hilbert agreed, calling Trump “a class act.� He believes Trump’s transparency and straight talk is driving his campaign’s success, and he believes Trump will do well among local voters. “He’s what this country needs,� Hilbert said. “I don’t care if he is in New York, he has Indiana values.�

TRUMP CAMPAIGN OPENS OFFICE IN CARMEL With the Indiana primary election set for May 3, Donald Trump’s campaign has opened up shop at 11530 Westfield Blvd. in Carmel.

Plane crash – A flight instructor and his teenage student are recovering from non-life threatening injuries after being involved in a plane crash in Zionsville. Ronald W. McCormick, 70, and a 17-year-old male flagged down help from a passerby in the 600 block of S County Rd. 1200 E in Zionsville shortly before 5 p.m.

Z’Run returns – The 14th annual Z’Run will begin at 9 a.m. April 30 at Zionsville Middle School, 900 Ford Rd. ZTHBC selects Old National to finance new town hall

The town received proposals from UPDATE several banks to provide installment purchase financing for the $10.2-million project. â&#x20AC;&#x153;A number of different financing vehicles have been explored, but the one that seems to make sense for the town at this point is to do a financing â&#x20AC;Ś via an installment purchase agreement,â&#x20AC;? Town Attorney Bruce Donaldson said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s a little bit simpler and more streamlined than doing a traditional bond issue.â&#x20AC;?

The building corporation will borrow the funds from Old National Bank to build the 41,300-square-foot town hall and pay the money back over 20 years with 2.7 percent interest. The financing plan was approved by the plan commission April 18.

The corporation also discussed how to handle the remaining debt on the current town hall building. The town owes approximately $800,000, which could either be paid off by selling it or changing its lease to a general obligation bond. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We already have authorization from the council to switch out the lease bond for a straight general obligation bond,â&#x20AC;?

Donaldson said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We either do that or you pay off those bonds in some fashion. If the property were to be sold, you could use those proceeds to pay of those bonds.â&#x20AC;?

COMMUNITY Woman who said she was nearly abducted at knifepoint made up story, ZPD reports

By Ann Marie Shambaugh P]]\PaXT/h^dPaTRdaaT]c R^\ A woman who said she was nearly abducted at knifepoint last month made up the whole story, Zionsville police have reported.

UPDATE On March 28, Tina Marie Rattinger told police that a Hispanic male attempted to force her into a white van at knifepoint as she was taking out her trash at the Domain at Bennett Farms apartments. She said she fought back and escaped.

Now police say none of that actually happened. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Investigators had determined early on that certain aspects of her story didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t add up,â&#x20AC;? ZPD Sgt. Adrian Martin said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Due to the detailed investigation beyond that point that took obviously several weeks they determined that indeed she was in a position that she had no choice but to come clean.â&#x20AC;?

The Boone Co. Prosecutors Office is reviewing the case and could choose to charge Rattinger with false informing, a class A misdemeanor. Until that happens, Martin said he could not release any information on why Rattinger made up the story. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We were really excited and grateful to be able to exhaust this investigation to the point that we have 100 percent certainty that she fabricated the details,â&#x20AC;? Martin said.

Zionsville was recently named the third happiest place in the Hoosier state according to the website Zippia, which RANKING helps readers reach their career aspirations.

To determine happiness, seven criteria were evaluated such as owning a home, having a job, a short commute and the poverty rate.

Granger and Jasper were the top two cities listed, with Batesville and Westfield rounding out the top five.

The list was created by the career website to help people decide between cities during their job search. Just check out the Zionsville eateries. The PLAIN TALK same folks show up day after day. They all have one thing in common â&#x20AC;&#x201C; they like to hang with their friends.

Probably the most familiar face at McDonaldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s belongs to Bernie Gorzny. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I drive school bus #76,â&#x20AC;? he says, â&#x20AC;&#x153;and come here after the route.â&#x20AC;? His route serves Royal Run. Bernie comes to McDonaldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, he says, â&#x20AC;&#x153;to meet people. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m a people person.â&#x20AC;? His buddy, Marvin Miller, agrees. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not breakfast, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s â&#x20AC;&#x153;the social atmosphereâ&#x20AC;? that brings him here.

Also at McDonaldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll find Ermil Akers, his wife, Margaret, and their friend John D. Williams. She adds that she also likes the name of Rosieâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, confessing that her name is Mary Rose. â&#x20AC;&#x153;My side of the family calls me Rose,â&#x20AC;? she says. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Nobody around here knows that.â&#x20AC;?

Elsewhere, at Brunchies, the largest breakfast club I found actually has a name. They call themselves Anytime Angels. Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s because they exercise at Anytime Fitness before brunching together. The gang here the day I dropped in were Barbara Starkey, Sue Fenton, Andi Hayes, Pat Brown, Jan Bontell, Ann Newman and Joyce Dulin. They say that Julie Baciu, Mary Dooley, and Betty Jersild were absent.

Andi is the unofficial ring leader, and itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s her number they call when they canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t make it.

In case youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re wondering about the â&#x20AC;&#x153;Angelsâ&#x20AC;? in their name, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s because theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re always there for one another. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m guessing thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s true of all the breakfast clubs.

Two years after husbandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s murder, Jennifer Trapuzzano is helping families struck by loss

By Ann Marie Shambaugh P]]\PaXT/h^dPaTRdaaT]c R^\ Jennifer Trapuzzano is on a mission to help children who have lost a parent. She helps lead a foundation that COVER STORY provides financial help and other support when a mom or dad passes away.

And although her organization is only a year old, she knows itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s making a difference, because sheâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s living through the tragedy herself.

Her husband, Nathan Trapuzzano, died April 1, 2014, after being mugged and shot to death on a morning walk in Indianapolis. Jennifer was pregnant at the time and gave birth to her daughter, Cecilia, about three weeks later. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Nate was murdered, so it was someone elseâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s hand acting evilly taking him from us,â&#x20AC;?

Jennifer said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;When I saw how many people reached out to us, it kind of restored my faith in humanity and gave me hope. There are evil people, but there are a lot of good people out there.â&#x20AC;?

After her husbandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s death, Jennifer, who recently moved to Whitestownâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Eagles Nest neighborhood, and Nateâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s siblings formed The Nathan Trapuzzano Memorial Foundation.

She said Nate â&#x20AC;&#x153;was a champion of those who didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have a father,â&#x20AC;? so defining the nonprofitâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s mission was easy. â&#x20AC;&#x153;His siblings and I didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t want (Nateâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s death) to be the end of his life or his legacy,â&#x20AC;? Jennifer said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We knew he still had so much to give the world. He was killed so young. We wanted to try to do something to carry his name on.â&#x20AC;?

On May 15 the foundation will hold its second annual NateWalk, a 5K run/walk that will also include games, guest appearances, food and a silent auction. It will be held in Avon, where Jennifer grew up. The previous night will be the inaugural NateNight, featuring an all-you-can-eat pasta dinner at St. Susanaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Catholic Church in Plainfield.

Funds raised through both events will support the memorial foundationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s mission. So far, it has helped five families cope with the loss of a parent.

Jennifer said the support she received from the community helped her get through the darkest days of her life. People brought meals for weeks, she said, and all of the items on her baby registry were fulfilled.

be tough for Jennifer and Cecilia. They look at a book of photos of Nate every night so Cecilia can know about her father. Some days

itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s especially hard for Jennifer to watch her daughter hit major milestones and not be able to share it with Nate. She wonders what his opinions would have been on parenting and other issues.

But overall, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s getting better. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I found joy in my life again,â&#x20AC;? she said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve been able to grow as a person. I think I enjoy life even more than I did before, because I know every day is a gift.â&#x20AC;?

Other members of Nateâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s family are still struggling to cope with his death, too. â&#x20AC;&#x153;This year for me was almost harder. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s been two years, and it feels like longer, but it also doesnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t,â&#x20AC;? said Shayne Trapuzzano, Nateâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s sister and a co-founder of the foundation. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m still mad. I donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know that that will go away.â&#x20AC;?

Shayne, who lives in Columbus, Ohio, and other siblings, who live in Tampa, Fla., plan to attend the NateWalk. Theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve also hosted one in Pittsburgh, where Nateâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s parents live and

where he grew up, and they hope to organize one in Tampa someday, too.

The family hopes that by finding hope and strength in the midst of tragedy, they can keep Nateâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s spirit alive, especially for Cecelia, who turned 2 years old April 25. â&#x20AC;&#x153;She is a bundle of joy. She keeps us laughing all the time,â&#x20AC;? Jennifer said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Sheâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s been speaking sentences for months now and picks up on everything, a little too quickly sometimes.â&#x20AC;?

Transparency receives a boost I would like to thank the Statehouse legislators, especially Rep. Jerry Torr and Sen. Jim Merritt, for supporting House Bill 1017, which Gov. Mike Pence signed into law March 23, 2016. This bill added local newspapers, such as Current, to the list of acceptable printmedia options in which municipalities can publish public notices. This new rule allows for greater transparency of local government, which is what I told the Senate Committee on Local Government when I spoke in support of this bill. The new law dropped the requirement that the media had to have a â&#x20AC;&#x153;paid subscriptionâ&#x20AC;? base in order to be on the list of acceptable notice publications.

Before HB1017, my office could only select The Noblesville Times as the media outlet for publishing public notices, and it reaches only 1.3 percent of Carmel residents. Current, as you might know, is free and reaches 100 percent of households in the communities it serves. We now have market competition and options for public noticing. In Carmel, and maybe itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s the same in your community, residents routinely have voiced their dismay that public notices are not in Current. When they do not see notices printed in the Current, our residents assume we are not doing our job of adequately notifying them of important city business taking place at public meetings. The City of Carmel clerk treasurer, mayor and the Common Council value the citizensâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; input, because the more they know, the better our government can represent them. Thank you, State of Indiana, for putting transparency first!

An Iditarod dilemma Commentary by Terry Anker We all seek success. Right? Well, can we agree that we all want to be able to keep up with the achievement of those closest to us? Being valued as a member of the crew, or family, or dog-sled team, is important to our ego â&#x20AC;&#x201C; and to our general well-being. If the lead dog is able to run for 20 miles and if we are pulling the same sled, then anything less would hold back the top achiever.

So, how do we keep up? We can practice and push ourselves to performance consistent with that front canine. Such may be the best and most honorable way to prove our worth to the collective. But, what if weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re not able (or willing) to exert the effort required to be a mutual contributor to the effort? In that case, perhaps our strength comes from some other special skill. Our inability to run the course might be off-set by our ability to get the most out of the other dogs. While our best running days are over, weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve become highly adroit at logistics, sled

maintenance, or nutrition. We are the teamâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s secret weapon.

Yet sometimes, our inclusion only debilitates the work of the others. Our failure to know and admit our own limitations becomes a drain on the contributions of the rest. We can guilt or cajole the team into keeping us. We can undermine the confidence of the top performers to hold on a bit longer. But, the truth may be that we should simply retire.

Are we keeping up, contributing, or getting in the way? The best among us ask this question routinely in the course of lifeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s winding journey. It helps us correct and focus our effort. And, it can make us confront our own uncomfortable truths â&#x20AC;&#x201C; good and bad. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s an Iditarod dilemma.

I apologize for once again harping on about our kitchen remodel, but the experience is so overwhelming that HUMOR I can think of little else. We are heading into either Week 6 or 7 (Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve lost track) of no sink, disposal, dishwasher or countertops, and new in the last few days, also no main-floor toilet.

I mention this because our oldest sonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s bedroom is adjacent to this bathroom, and he cannot contain his frustration at having to climb stairs and cut through a siblingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s room to use the facilities in the middle of the night. Okay! We get it. Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve ruined your life. Now suck it up and deal. For the love of all that is holy, just please. Stop.

COMPLAINING! On a positive note, we finally installed new flooring, so we no longer have to worry that weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re breathing fecal-contaminated air. But now, our overweight, anxious, earinfected Labrador, who used to love running herself silly around the living and family rooms, can barely function. The change has left her quiet, withdrawn and seemingly depressed. A welcome change from her normal shenanigans, certainly, but I do kind of feel sorry for her. Kinda.

And my husband and I finally snapped.

A â&#x20AC;&#x153;discussionâ&#x20AC;? the other day quickly escalated, driving me to tears and Doo to major schmuck-dom. At the end, we realized most of the issues were stress-based, thanks to our home having been a barely-livable S-box for almost two months. Why donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t I see this kind of drama on Fixer Upper or Property Brothers? I watched HGTV religiously in preparation for this reno, and never once did I see families ready to rip each other apart.

There were disagreements, yes, but all the shows made kitchen redoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s look effortless, even fun. Not cool, Joanna Gaines! Not cool.

Supposedly, the insanity will end in a few days when the last of the â&#x20AC;&#x153;biggiesâ&#x20AC;? arrive, our countertops. Within the week, the kitchen should be restored, and hopefully, domestic order, too. And then Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll return to writing about more exciting topics, like working-mom guilt and the infinite uses of Clorox. Yay! Peace out.

Wisdom needed in Republican presidential primary Editor, The presidential candidates present a confusing choice. Ultimately the decision is between a socialistic government or a freeenterprise one. The Republican candidates are certainly flawed â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Trumpâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s self-confidence and vulgar deportment, Cruzâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Christian testimony compromised by his campaignâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s tactics, Kasich, the Common-Core guy with one primary win, who like Charles Dickenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Uriah Heep, is so proud he is humble. Yet none of them are for bigger government.

If the battle continues into the July Republican convention, to dismiss the primary process and the candidateâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s primary wins would be like snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory. Political insiders can argue the rules and past conventions to justify the outcome â&#x20AC;&#x153;theyâ&#x20AC;? seek. But if the convention choice does not reflect the votes cast in the primaries, things will blow up irreparably.

Trump has no IOUs with the political machines. He has accepted no campaign funds from PACs or the RNC. He appears to have the best shot at having the most delegates going into the convention. If so, so what?

Should Cruz have the most delegates by July, how could Trump and his supporters be appeased? What could Trump be offered besides the presidency? If Trump has the most delegates, he likely would offer Cruz a nomination to the Supreme Court where Cruzâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s gifted legal mind would have enormous impact. The presidency is for a maximum of eight years. A Supreme Court justice is for life.

To paraphrase Proverbs 16:33: â&#x20AC;&#x153;We may throw the dice, but God determines how they fall.â&#x20AC;? Humanly speaking, Solomon-like wisdom is needed. Who really loves the baby, our country, enough to consider it first?

National Association of Home Builders, Spring 2016 Nationwide housing starts rose 5.2 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.178 million units in February, according to newly released data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Commerce Department. Single-family production increased 7.2 percent to 822,000 units— its highest level since November 2007— while multifamily starts remained virtually unchanged, inching up 0.8 percent to 356,000 units.

“This month’s report is consistent with positive builder sentiment and other economic indicators showing that the housing market continues to recover at a gradual pace,” said NAHB Chairman Ed Brady, a home builder and developer from Bloomington, Ill. “February’s single-family gains indicate that this sector is strengthening in line with our forecast,” said NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe. “As the U.S. economy firms, job creation continues and mortgage interest rates remain low, we should see further growth in housing production moving forward.”

Combined single- and multi-family starts rose in three of the four regions in

February, with the West, Midwest and South posting respective gains of 26.1 percent, 19.9 percent and 7.1 percent.

The Northeast registered a 51.3 percent loss.

Locally, Indianapolis-area home builders had their best February in almost a decade last month with a big surge in new-home buying. The last time area builders filed more permits in February was in 2007, when they filed 442. According to Jennifer Pyatt, co-owner of Pyatt Homes, a local area homebuilder, “Double digit permit gains in both February and March is certainly an indicator that the Indianapolis new home market is heating up. New home builders are seeing results pointing to better-thanseasonal order activity for the first time since the market downturn. With strong fundamentals in place such as low interest rates, improving mortgage availability, record low new home inventory and accelerating household formations, we are confident that we will continue to see moderate increases in permit numbers this year.”

As usual, Hamilton County led the area in filings, followed by Marion County then Hendricks County.

It usually takes three to five years to establish a financially sound business. Will they be around after the construction is complete to service any warranties? ❑ Is your builder a member of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis? ❑ Did your builder provide you a copy of the Quality Assurance Builder Standards? ❑ Have you called your local Better Business Bureau? It can alert you to any complaints. ❑ Does the builder/remodeler have sufficient workers compensation and general liability insurance? If not, you may be liable for any construction-related accidents on your premises. ❑ Will the builder/remodeler provide you with names of previous customers? Ask them if they would hire the builder/remodeler again. ❑ Have you seen the builder/remodelers’ work, both completed and in progress? Check for quality of workmanship and materials. ❑ Are you able to communicate with the builder/remodeler? Remember, you will be in close contact with them throughout the construction process and afterward as you live in your new home. ❑ Will the builder/remodeler provide you with a complete and clearly written contract? The contract will benefit both of you. Review it carefully. ❑ Be cautious of unusually low-priced bids. If the builder/remodeler is unable to pay for the materials and labor as the project proceeds, this may indicate a problem.

BAGI’s Quality Assurance Builder Standards BAGI’s Quality Assurance Builder Standards provide new homebuyers and remodeling homeowners a way to measure the quality of the project against an industry-approved set of standards.

These standards have been developed by BAGI as a service to newhome and remodeling homeowners in the Central Indiana area. BAGI is a membership trade association representing several-hundred-member firms in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan and Shelby Counties. These standards create a series of performance guildlines the builders and the homeowners can use to communicate and understand expectations regarding the building or remodeling project.

The standards address the most prevalent issues that arise between the builder and the customer before the project, during the project, and, most importantly, after the project.

“All too often it is the undefined expectations that create the majority of the problems encountered in the building and remodeling processes, says Steve Lains, CEO of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. “The standards will help eliminate problems before the project even begins and gives homeowners a level of confidence that they are doing business with a reputable company,” Lains said.

DIVORCE â&#x20AC;&#x201C; WHAT TO EXPECT: Going to Court Although settlement is the preferred resolution for family law cases and frequently results in a better conclusion for all concerned, the parties have the fundamental right to have their dispute heard and decided by a judge. Court hearings have structured and specific procedures and understanding what the Court will hear and how evidence must be presented is key to being prepared. In these circumstances, the â&#x20AC;&#x153;fear of the unknownâ&#x20AC;? is a major concern for clients. Typically, clients have not been in Court to testify and have only limited experience with Court proceedings. In the event your case proceeds to a hearing, knowing what to expect (to the extent that is possible) in Court can help to ease your concerns.

Request the Hearing. The Court does not automatically set hearings.

Therefore, your attorney will file a written request specifying the issues to cover and the amount of time the parties anticipate needing to present the evidence. These hearing can be for preliminary orders, enforcement requests, and, ultimately, for the final adjudication of the divorce terms themselves. If the case begins with a great deal of conflict and agreement is unlikely, you may request a preliminary hearing upon the filing of your initial Petition. This will ensure that you are set on the Courtâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s calendar in a timely manner so as to avoid any unnecessary delay in resolving the issues pending before the Court.

Be Prepared. Preparation is the key to going to trial. Presenting the proper evidence and anticipating the position of the opposing party are key in obtaining the best possible results. There is no way to know how the Judge will rule on any given issue on any given day due to the fact that each family law case is unique â&#x20AC;&#x201C; no two sets of facts are the same â&#x20AC;&#x201C; but making your position clear and providing supporting evidence in an organized and efficient manner is essential. Understanding that there is limited time within which to present your evidence to the Judge, deciding which evidence is the most important to present is also essential; frequently, there will not be time for the Judge to hear everything, so what

he/she does hear must point to the result you want and provide the basis for the Court to find that the facts and the law favor the outcome you seek. Understanding what the documentation and witness who can best provide that basis will require considerable preparation, including understanding what questions will be asked of all witnesses and what the information the questions are intended to relay.

What to Wear? Simple - look like you respect the Court. While it is not absolutely necessary to dress formally when appearing in Court, that never hurts. You should present yourself in a clean, conservative, business-casual manner. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s hard to be overdressed; be certain you arenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t underdressed.

The Day of the Hearing. Make certain that you know the location of the Court and give yourself time to find parking and make it through the building security. Be early. Courts have limited time and arriving late is a good way to get off to a bad start. Once the Court is ready to begin, the Judge will enter and the matter will begin with the evidence from the party who requested the hearing. At the close of the petitioning partiesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; case, the opposing party will present his/her evidence. When all evidence has been presented, the Judge will issue a ruling. This may be done in Court live on the record or after the hearing if the Judge has taken the matter under advisement. If the matter is taken under advisement, the Judge has ninety (90) days to issue a written Order.

Frequently, the Judge will ask the attorneys to provide proposed orders for the Court to consider.

Carmel-based Telamon anticipates occupying 111,000 square feet of the mixed-use development for its telecom division, employing up to 50 people. The AllPoints location will be primarily distribution and electronic integration engineering for telecom.

Telamon has applied for personal property tax abatements from Boone Co. and Whitestown.

Selling prices up 2.7 percent Commentary by Jim Litten

March revealed itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s a sellersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; market in central Indiana residential real estate. The amount of available listings REAL ESTATE decreased 13.5 percent compared to this time last year, and this has helped raise the average selling price of a home 2.7 percent across the region. The number of pended home sales have also increased year to date by approximately 1.6 percent compared to 2015.

In March 2016, Boone was the only county in the region to show an increase in inventory.

There were 387 homes for sale, beating last yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s total by one home. Boone Countyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s pended sales declined 5.3 percent, or five homes, compared to last year. However, average sale prices inched up 1.6 percent to $266,620. Â&#x201C; In Zionsville, the average year-to-date home sales price increased 2.4 percent,

now at $395,945. Â&#x201C; Inventory moved at a slower pace in Zionsville in March 2016. Overall, homes sold in 99 days â&#x20AC;&#x201C; 14 more days than this time last year. Â&#x201C; Buyers in Zionsville had more options available to them. Last month, 193 homes were available for sale â&#x20AC;&#x201C; an increase of nine homes compared to March 2015.

It is a prime time to be a seller. Sellers do not have as much competition, as buyer options at all price levels â&#x20AC;&#x201C; starter, trade-up and premium â&#x20AC;&#x201C; are dropping, especially in the starter category. And, the pacing of sales continues to accelerate month over month.

The Canadian-based company sells food and supplies for dogs cats, companion and wild birds, fish, reptiles and small animals. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We basically have everything you could possibly want for any kid of pet,â&#x20AC;? store manager Nichole Lay said.

The Zionsville location also features a selfwashing station for dogs, with high sinks for adults and easy-to-climb steps for less agile pets. Books and Brews coming to town

Books and Brews has EXPANSION plans to move into the space that formerly housed Zionsville Grill in the Boone Village Shopping Center. The new business will include a taproom selling the companyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s beer and have a guest wine and beer list. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We just signed the lease, and we donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t anticipate having to do an extensive build out, mostly aesthetic improvements,â&#x20AC;? said Jason Wuerfel, president of Books and Brews. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I build all the furniture myself, so I need some time to build furniture and build the bookcases, but not a lot of infrastructure upgrades are needed.â&#x20AC;?

Wuerfel said it should take approximately three to six months to reinvent the building.

Books and Brews will not be brewing at the new location but will sell its beer and offer social events mostly centered around the arts, such as open mic night and live music. It will also host book and writing clubs. The first Books and Brews is in Indianapolis near 96th

The goal was to create more spacious, functional bathroom for the homeowners that reflected their 1930s home aesthetics.

1. The vanity is now housed on one wall, with two sinks on one longer run.

2. Custom mirrors were designed with a curve in the center to add a focal point.

3. A makeup sitting area was tucked under the sloped roof at the end of the vanity.

4. The shower and toilet spaces were switched to provide better functionality and circulation, ensuring a spacious, open shower design.

5. The details in the lighting fixtures, cabinetry, crystal knobs, and oil rubbed bronze finish coordinate with the homeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s aesthetics.

6. The angled tile flooring draws your eye naturally to the main focus area of the updated bathroom.

Before Background info: This 1930s Meridian Kessler master bathroom in Indianapolis provided a fun challenge, as the new design had to keep with the original style of the home. It was in desperate need of both a functional and aesthetic update.

BEFORE PROBLEMS: The existing space had hunter green carpet on the floor, a tub that was never used and split vanity areas that made for an dysfunctional layout and very outdated look. It was time to replace the polished, brass fixtures and awkward spaces with updated fixtures and function.

Surprising to many Christians, the Great Mosque, one of the largest in the world, honors both John the Baptist and Jesus.

The Great Mosque lies in the center of Damascus on a site devoted to religious buildings since at least 1000 B.C., when it was the location of the temple of a Canaanite weather god. When the Romans captured Damascus in 64 B.C., they converted the temple to one honoring Jupiter. When Paul was baptized in Damascus in about 40 A.D., the temple honored a number of Roman gods and rivaled in splendor the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. In the late fourth century, when Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire, the temple was converted to a cathedral. By the sixth century, the cathedral claimed to hold the severed head of John the Baptist.

When the Umayyads established an extensive Islamic caliphate in the late seventh century, they made Damascus their capital. They demolished the cathedral and constructed a mosque on the site. During construction, workers discovered a box they believed contained the head of John the Baptist, who is important to Muslims, and created a domed shrine for the head in the womenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s prayer hall. The tallest of the Great Mosqueâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s three minarets is named for Jesus, whom Muslims revere as a prophet second in importance only to Muhammad. Many Muslim residents of Damascus believe that Jesus will return to their city at the end of time, where he will battle and defeat the Antichrist.

In 2001, Pope John Paul II toured the Great Mosque because of its ties to Jesus and John the Baptist, becoming the first Pope to visit a mosque.

STUDY Seeking women who have experienced a miscarriage prior to 20 weeks of gestation in the last 3 years for a study of communication about miscarriage.

Participation in the study involves taking part in a two-hour group interview in which women will watch and evaluate a series of video clips and complete a 10-minute questionnaire. Participants must speak and read English and be 18 years of age or older. We are seeking women who sought care from a healthcare provider during their pregnancy and/or miscarriage.

You will receive a $25 gift card if you complete the questionnaire and the entire focus group session. Participants who do not complete the study will not receive a gift card.
