Every day, CURE International exists to do one thing: heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God. That calling has led us to serve children with treatable disabilities in places where surgical care is often unavailable—and where many have never heard the name of Jesus.
Yet the need is growing. Around the world, 1.75 billion children lack access to safe surgical care. Correctable conditions like clubfoot, cleft lip, and bowed legs too often become lifelong barriers to mobility, dignity, and hope.
The CURE MAX Strategic Plan is our bold response. Together with our hospital leaders, medical teams, and ministry staff, we’ve mapped out a path to increase surgical capacity, strengthen care after surgery, expand our ministry reach, and build a new hospital in an underserved region.
It’s more than a plan—it’s a commitment to ensure every child who enters a CURE hospital receives world-class medical care and hears the good news of Jesus in an environment filled with joy and compassion.
As you read through these pages, I invite you to pray with us, dream with us, and ask how God may be calling you to invest in this initiative—so that more children, more families, and more communities can be transformed in the name of Christ.
Thank you for joining us in this most important mission.

what we do
MEETING A GLOBAL NEED
When a child is born with a treatable condition or suffers a traumatic injury, access to surgical care can mean the difference between a life of freedom and a lifetime of pain, disability, and isolation. Yet tragically, 1.75 billion children worldwide lack access to the care they need.
OUR STRATEGIC RESPONSE
World-Class Surgery for Kids
CURE’s expert surgical teams treat orthopedic, plastic, and neurosurgical conditions—restoring mobility and dignity to children, all at no cost to their families.
Intentional Ministry Care
Children and families hear, often for the first time, of their value in God’s eyes. CURE’s ministry team members listen to their stories, offer prayers, share the Bible, and spread words of encouragement.
Training for Sustainable Impact
CURE equips the next generation of surgeons and healthcare workers through formal research, residency, fellowship, and training programs.
Advocate for Vulnerable Children
CURE trains pastors and local leaders to help communities recognize the God-given worth of children with disabilities— breaking stigmas so every child is seen, valued, and loved.

a look back
AN UPDATE ON THE 2021-2024 STRATEGIC PLAN
In 2021, CURE International launched Operation 2x—an ambitious plan to double the number of children and families served through our existing hospitals. By God’s grace and with the faithful support of the thousands who joined our mission, we exceeded those goals. Together, we increased annual surgical procedures by 9,500+ and more than tripled the number of people reached with the gospel message.
With support from generous partners and a committed, capable global team, the last four years have laid the foundation for the next chapter in CURE’s history.
Expanded Care for Vulnerable Children
We doubled the number of life-changing surgeries we provide annually! Generous partners enabled us to increase our patient care budget by $10 million annually, add 400 medical and ministry staff, and expand surgical programs across our network.
Multiplied Ministry Impact
More families than ever are hearing the gospel and finding hope in Christ. We expanded mobile clinics and developed partnerships to reach more communities with the gospel message and disciple new believers.
Scaled Operational Excellence
Standardization of processes and medical equipment led to greater effectiveness and efficiency. We developed an electronic medical records system and achieved international standards of excellence through SafeCare certification at all our hospitals.
Upgraded Hospital Facilities
Children are receiving world-class care in high-quality medical facilities. We invested more than $31.4 million to upgrade and expand existing hospitals, improving patient flow and driving down cost per surgery while building our hospitals for decades to come.
Strengthened National Health Systems
More local healthcare leaders were equipped to serve their communities for years to come. We grew partnerships with governments and accrediting agencies to expand formal residency and fellowship programs
at select CURE hospitals.
MAX
A VISION FOR 2030
A FOUR-YEAR PLAN TO REACH MORE CHILDREN
Over the past two decades, CURE has provided life-changing surgery and the love of Christ to hundreds of thousands of children with treatable disabilities. But millions more still wait.
CURE MAX is a four-year strategic plan to close that gap. By 2030, we aim to transform our entire hospital network, ensuring that every child receives not only surgery but also comprehensive care, intentional ministry, and a joyful healing environment.
This plan builds on decades of experience to establish a standardized “CURE Way” Operating Manual—a model of excellence we can replicate and scale to expand our global impact.

THE NEED
Every child deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, thriving life. Yet 1.75 billion children around the world still lack access to surgical care—with 87% of them living in low- and middle-income countries. Without care, treatable conditions often become lifelong disabilities, leaving children vulnerable.
OUR VISION
CURE is committed to changing that reality by increasing our surgical volume by 25 percent to become the largest provider of charitable, Christ-centered pediatric surgical care in the world.
1.75 billion of the world’s children lack access to surgical living

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
Expand the Clinical Team
Add 15 physicians and 50 nurses to build strong, mission-minded teams of specialist surgeons and anesthesiologists equipped to treat orthopedic, plastic/reconstructive, and neurosurgical conditions across the network.
Build New Surgical Centers
Open five new surgical centers to significantly increase surgical capacity, provide more complex care, and offer life-saving surgeries to more children.
Train Future Doctors
Establish accredited training programs at all African hospitals to equip the next generation of pediatric surgeons, partnering with international accrediting agencies to build a pipeline of local Christian surgeons who elevate national healthcare systems.
Create a Centralized Procurement System
Build a reliable global supply chain with real-time inventory tracking so every hospital has the medical and pharmaceutical supplies it needs—every day.
Build Solar Power
Install solar systems at three hospitals to provide reliable energy, reduce operational costs, prevent power outages, and deliver uninterrupted healing for the patients we serve.
Upgrade Digital Systems
Roll out the next generation of PULSE, our hospital management system, to streamline care and improve efficiency across the network, reflecting our commitment to modern hospitals with efficient systems that deliver the best possible care.
Standardize Patient Flow
Create a network-wide patient flow model to reduce wait times, improve bed utilization, and ensure timely access to surgical care so that more children receive care without compromising quality or compassion.
maximum care
Ensure Every Child Thrives Before and After Surgery
THE NEED OUR VISION
Healing doesn’t end in the operating room. For thousands of children across Africa and Asia, true healing requires ongoing care to address nutritional needs, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, and prosthetics and orthotics support. Yet these critical services are often unavailable or out of reach.
CURE is expanding programs, services, and staff to ensure every child receives the world-class preoperative and postsurgical care they need to fully heal—so they can return to school, play with friends, live free from pain and limitation, and grow up filled with hope in Christ.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
Expand Cleft Care
Launch five new comprehensive cleft programs to provide ongoing care to address speech, nutrition, and dental needs. This model builds on proven success at CURE’s hospital in Zambia and the Philippines to address one of the most common congenital conditions.
Grow Rehabilitation Services
Recruit 20+ pediatric physiotherapists and occupational therapists and establish child-friendly, modern therapy centers to improve outcomes and help every child participate fully at home, at school, and within their community.
Build Prosthetics & Orthotics Workshops
Build and staff brand-new workshops in Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Niger—and upgrade existing workshops in Kenya and Ethiopia—to provide custom-fitted mobility devices to help kids with limb conditions regain their independence.
Strengthen Health and Nutrition
Add pediatricians and clinical nutritionists at every CURE hospital to ensure all patients, especially those who are medically fragile or undernourished, are physically prepared for surgery and supported through every stage of healing.
Standardize Clinical Support
Add a global Director of Clinical Support and local support staff to standardize clinical functions—such as pharmacy, sterilization, and biomedical support—to ensure safer surgeries and better outcomes for children.
Provide Postoperative Care
Expand recovery for high-risk children by upgrading monitoring protocols, training nurses in critical care, improving oxygen and pain management systems, and ensuring access to essential medications and equipment.
Optimize Outcomes for Impact
Create a centralized team to drive data-informed improvements by developing tools and tracking long-term physical and spiritual outcomes for patients.
Provide Patient Transportation
Launch transportation programs at every CURE hospital to ensure children can access surgery and return for critical follow-up care—regardless of where they live.
maximum ministry
Create Joyful Environments for Ministry
THE NEED
In low-resource regions, many hospitals lack spaces where kids can play, reflect, recover, and receive the spiritual encouragement that brings true healing.
A Look Inside: Hope House Plans
OUR VISION
We aim to transform every hospital into a joyful place where children experience Christ’s love throughout their recovery. By creating vibrant, welcoming spaces filled with worship and care, we support healing of both body and spirit.

Open seven long-stay homes across the network to provide children and families with comfortable spaces for rest and recovery, fellowship, biblical counseling, and vocational skills training.
Design Joyful Spaces
Create child-friendly, accessible environments with playgrounds, interactive playrooms, colorful signage, and peaceful gardens— bringing joy, creativity, and gospel-centered care to every hospital campus.
Build Chapels
Construct permanent chapels in Niger and Zimbabwe, completing CURE’s global chapel network to provide spaces for worship, prayer, counseling, and training—making Christ’s presence visible at every hospital.
maximum reach
Build the Next CURE Hospital to Expand Our Reach
THE NEED OUR VISION
Millions of children across Africa and beyond live with untreated, surgically correctable conditions—simply because there’s no pediatric surgical care where they live. Without intervention, these children face a lifetime of preventable pain, isolation, and lost potential.
By 2030, CURE will open our ninth children’s hospital in a region with profound need— bringing world-class care and the love of Christ to thousands more children each year. The new hospital will serve as a regional hub, providing children across multiple countries with access to care that was once out of reach.
