I come from a lineage of entrepreneurs. The first man in my family's line to enjoy the freedom of no longer being enslaved owned himself, the land he lived on, the house he lived in, where he bought his groceries and provisions, and even where he worshipped. Once I learned the story of William Reed I knew there was no way I should settle for anything less than owning my own.

PAMELA CONE FOUNDER & CEO My father, William Reed, our great ancestor’s namesake, would consistently tell me, "One day baby, you're going to have your own.” My father was a truck driver by trade, a community grocery store owner, as well as a property owner and landowner. He didn't die in debt. He was a lender, not a borrower. He was hardworking! He was strong and determined. He passed the baton of faith, family, hard work and entrepreneurship.
The concept of owning yourself resonated with my soul when I heard that Oprah made a decision to bet on herself and forgo a years' salary to OWN herself. We all know how that decision PAID off!
Go Get Your Shoes & Come On! In My Fred Hammond Voice Excited is an understatement when it comes to expressing how I feel about the direction in which Curated Spaces is headed! I started Curated Spaces in 2019 with just the name! I had no idea what it would ultimately blossom to be (and I still don’t fully know). However, when the words came to me, I immediately moved forward to secure it. It was almost a year later when the idea for Curated Christian Journals came to me. I launched with two journals and no idea of what God wanted me to do with them. I knew I had a heart for ministry and a desire for spiritual growth. The fire for owning my own business is always burning, so that wasn’t anything new. Fast forward to September 2023, and here we are with products and services for

REMAIN TIMELESS INTRODUCING OUR UPCOMING SKIN CARE LINE & A FEW WISDOM GEMS
Honestly, things come to me at the weirdest times. I was traveling to see my mother when the words “Remaining Timeless” came to me. This tends to happen whenever I go for a visit. As with a lot of women, aging gracefully aka aging while still looking flawless is important to me. When these words came to me, I had already committed to doing the skin care line, so I immediately thought this would be a nice tagline. Well, that was not all the Holy Spirit meant by this. Between my flights there and back I had received an outline of thoughts on the subject of Remaining Timeless. Time is a concept that is hard to capture. Man started counting time with the sun dial. Many things in our lives — when we rise, eat, work, lay down — are governed by time. We

Taking care of my skin is important as well. As it shows signs of the inevitable, I need to give it the attention it needs to age graciously. Our skin care line will concentrate on protecting the skin from sun damage, discoloration, and support the aging process. Can’t Wait! Stay Tuned!

A TIME TO HEAL HEALTH KINDNESS POWER
At the beginning of the year the Holy Spirit gave me these three words. I thought health was a no-brainer. I would need to be more health conscious. I figured I would need to be more kind. And I imagined power to be about having more control of my life. I expected there to be small tests for each. Boy, was I wrong!
A TIME TO HEAL I’M BLESSED TO STILL BE HERE!
BY: PAMELA CONE
ADULT COLORING THERAPY
I’m grateful to God for LIFE! This birthday is extra special because I’m blessed to be alive! Some time in late February, I suffered an ischemic stroke. I had no idea when it occurred. The first symptom I noticed was that my left leg was slightly swollen. I made an appointment with my primary care doctor, and he sent me to the E.R. They ran a series of tests, however, the results did not denote a stroke. The next day I followed up with my physician. After he examined me he ordered a series of tests. He was searching for the ‘big scary things’. I was concerned because the ‘big scary things’ had crossed my mind as well. The initial MRI, CAT Scan, ultrasound, and blood test came back clean. When he gave me the news, my first response was HALLELUJAH! But I knew something wasn’t right. Being in tune with my body and the Holy Spirit, I was prompted to advocate for myself. My doctor looked at me and said, “But something is going on.” I said, “Yes sir.” I explained the new developing symptoms I was experiencing, headaches and eye sensitivity. He immediately went to the Neurology Clinic. The neurologist he spoke with about my case reviewed my MRI. He noted a blood vessel had burst above my thalamus. This is the worst place to have a stroke. NOMADIC | 24
ECCLESIASTES 3:3 Ecclesiastes 3:3 tells us there is a time to heal. When I received the diagnosis, I was literally speechless. I looked at the screen and viewed my blood vessel flattened like a flat tire on a car parked on the side of the road. That’s exactly what I would have to be, parked in order to take time to heal. I am a miracle! There was no blood on my brain! No aneurysm! No blood clots! Glory to God! I had to commit to therapy. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral therapy all became a part of my new ischemic stroke lexicon. My symptoms began to come in within a week of my diagnosis. My oldest daughter, LaJoya, flew in from Hawaii. When she called the evening I received the news, I told her she didn’t need to come. Again, I was wrong! I hadn’t fully digested the significance of the stroke. My husband, Steven, asked the neurologist was I susceptible to having another stroke? I recall thinking to myself, “Why is he asking this? I’m not in that bad of a condition. This isn’t that serious.” But he was correct in his assumption. I am more prone to have another stroke, and it would more than likely be worse than this one.
CURATED - PAGE 35
I had to educate myself about my condition. I had to share this with my family and those I’m connected with. Everyone noted that I didn’t look like I’d had a stroke. The general consensus was, “You look good!” My response, “Thank you! God is good!” Yet and still, I’d had a stroke, and I needed to heal. The amount of pain, fatigue, and cognitive neurological disturbance I was experiencing was hard to convey. I had to know how to listen to my body and understand for myself what this meant for me, my health and well-being.
ECCLESIASTES 3:3 I refused to be disingenuous and respond with jargon or the expected answer when people asked me how I was doing. I told the truth! Some people responded with Scripture and to have faith and trust God. I’m grateful to those who prayed for me and with me. I journaled the scriptures that my family, church members, friends, and community shared. I also needed someone to acknowledge what I was going through. So, I would send text messages to the people in my life who would allow me to say, “I’m not okay! It’s not a good day!” Healing and acknowledging pain are what I call “both and”. I can both be in a state of healing and acknowledge my pain. They can co-exist. It doesn’t have to be “eitheror”. I have faith in God. I know Him as my healer. I have received many miracles and blessings. And I asked for prayers for healing, for the room to stop spinning, and for my face not to droop.
I have a way to go, but I’m not where I was before. The vertigo has decreased, my eye sensitivity has declined, but most importantly, I’m HERE. I learned in therapy I could poke the bear, but not push the bear. So, when I become overly stimulated I know it’s time to stop.
CURATED - PAGE 36
I learned a new way of how to minister to the sick — ministering to the sick without being judgmental! When you are sick it is hard to pray for yourself. That is why James teaches us to call the elders of the church to pray a prayer of faith (James 5:14-15). Reaching out to my community for prayer and asking them to share Scripture has been an integral part of my healing. Their faith in God coupled with mine has lifted me.
I am a miracle! There was no blood on my brain! No aneurysm! No blood clots! Glory to God! There were remaining lingering effects from the stroke. One was anxiety. To handle this, I started adult coloring. I had colored some at the onset of the pandemic and enjoyed it. I never thought of it as therapy. However, the creative side of me and the interior designer in me enjoyed creating. But I couldn’t calm down enough to enjoy it, at first. I look back at the initial drawings and can see I was frustrated. I would have to tell myself to breathe, relax, have fun, this is not a chore. The coloring became one of my greatest therapies. It was a huge part of my healing journey. I began posting them on my social media platforms, and people started asking me if I wanted to sell them. I wanted to say, “Guys, I’m trying to heal over here!” But I hadn’t publicly shared my condition.
The other therapies my doctor advised were challenging and beneficial. I was proud of myself for committing to the process.
In my mind, I thought the behavioral therapy was the least needed. Again, I was wrong! All of therapies worked together. When I committed to being open and honest, and requested a space to be vulnerable and transparent, I gained what I needed from this portion of my recovery. What I realized was that the source of my angst and deficiency wasn’t medical. It was emotional and mental stress. I learned how to unpack and be truthful with myself. I learned how to identify and acknowledge my hurt and admit my part in what I had allowed. I learned a better way of communicating my feelings, and how to express my expectations. CURATED - PAGE 37
The coloring became calming to me. I could go lay down and take a nap and my mind would be relaxed. I felt peaceful! I soon looked forward to my time coloring.
My main concern was my mind! The cognitive therapy I received under Speech Therapy opened my eyes to how much I had been mentally affected. It’s going to take time for me to heal cognitively. This has been the most challenging part of my healing process. It has emphasized that I need to take time to heal.
Health, Kindess and Power looked totally different on the other side of the stroke. It is amazing to me how God allowed a stroke to bring the lessons and manifestation of these three words into my life.
I am GRATEFUL for my body and all that it does for ME! I am GRATEFUL for the SUPPORT, PRAYERS, ENCOURAGEMENT, and CARE from those around ME! Whatever your part in my healing journey, I THANK YOU!
I don’t take any day I’ve been given for granted. Some may think I’m doing too much. I understand the value of time now more than ever. It is my desire to use every precious moment for the purpose I have been put here to fulfill. But I’ve learned that it doesn’t just happen. As I wrote in my book, Destiny Chaser, you must actively pursue what God has for you. My commitment for my family has intensified. Being a mother has always been front and center of my life, and who I am. Being called is at the core of my being. I want to be here to serve and give to my family. Passing down a legacy of faith, love of family, hard work, and serving God is important to me. I want my family to remember me and have record of who I was and what I believed.
38
It is my desire to spend the next 47 plus years (I pray) honoring the gifts, talents, skills, abilities, power, calling, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and the oil that God has given me. HEALTH - KINDNESS POWER. To get here I had to take TIME TO HEAL!

Statistics state that having a stroke reduces your life span. An ischemic stroke can increase the possibility for Alzheimer’s. I understand the data. My faith in God believes for a long life. Tomorrow is not promised to any man. The decisions I make today for my health — physically and emotionally — to be kind and to accept kindness from others, to maintain a merry heart, and to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, are for my tomorrows.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16
Self-love is like joy. It's more of an action than a feeling. You have joy even when you don't feel happy. It's a blessed assurance!
This is how I'm learning to feel about self-love. I say learning because I had an epiphany aka a talk with Jesus the other morning. One morning last week during my devotional time, the Lord began to speak to me about loving myself. I must admit I'm a romantic! I love, love! Eros love is something I want my life to be filled with. Amazingly to me, the Holy Spirit reminded me of some words I wrote in my journal, a poem, about eros love.
