designer’s touch can make a huge difference in your home and to your family. There is an emotional component to designing someone’s space. As some homeowners have even said-“interior designers are healers”. Designers’ use of color selections, textures, products, and styling help to create a mood that emotionally connects the client to their space. In addition, designers are trained to make great use of floor space and have ability to combine multiple ideas and requests. It is their innate talent that allows designers to consistently become more and more creative, making your space one of a kind. The finish result is a beautiful home that you and family will enjoy.

Making the decision to hire an interior designer can make some people excited while others may feel a little uncomfortable. Uncomfortable, because you don’t know what to expect- and frankly you may not be sure if you’re making the right decision. There is a certain amount of 18

f you are reading this you are probably interested in finding out more about home ownership.

This will just be a very brief overview of the beginning steps to the process. Home ownership is a major accomplishment in life and should be approached with a financially mature mindset.

Begin the process by making sure your credit is healthy. Credit is the ability of a customer to obtain goods or services before payment, based on the trust that payment will be made in the future. Since a lender doesn’t know you personally, your credit report becomes your financial character. Before approaching a lender to apply for a mortgage loan, clean up your credit. Approach them showing that you are responsible, disciplined, and trustworthy.

Know your credit score and everything reported from all 3 major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, Transunion).Take the time to personally invest in managing your credit as it is a direct reflection of you. While some lenders accept a 580 credit score, 620 and above 34

is more desirable. Besides credit score, other influencing factors play a role in credit including, payment history (35%), amounts owed (30%), length of credit history (15%), credit mix (10%), and new credit (10%) Having a more desirable credit score awards you with lower interest rates creating higher affordability.

It definitely pays to make sure your credit is favorable.

VEGETARIAN EGGPLANT CASSEROLE

BY NIKOLA Ingredients: 1 large eggplant or 2 medium,Olive oil, 1 yellow onion, diced, 1 bell pepper, diced, ½ hot pepper (jalapeño or serrano, optional), 2 garlic cloves, minced, 1 ½ cups cheese (I split mine with ½ cheddar & ½ mozzarella), 2 large eggs, beaten, 1T butter, melted, salt & pepper to taste.

Preheat oven to 350° Butter a 2 quart baking dish.Peel & dice the eggplant. Put it in a colander & sprinkle liberally with salt to drain. Meanwhile, in a large highsided pan, sauté the onions in olive oil until translucent. Add the bell pepper & optional jalapeño or serrano pepper. Sauté until slightly tender.

Boil the drained eggplant for 5-10 minutes, and then add the garlic, salt & pepper to taste. Add the onion & pepper mixture to the eggplant, stir to combine. To the eggplant mixture, add the eggs, ½ cup of breadcrumbs, & ½ of the cheese. Mix well. Spoon evenly into baking dish.

Top with the remaining cheese.Mix remaining ½ cup of breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the top of the cheese.Bake for 30 minutes. Let cool slightly before serving. Casserole should be firm & hold together when cut.

This will set the mood of the event without adding to your budget and it will aid you with ideas for food, drinks, and décor.

Your theme can be discreet, such as a flavor, color or cocktail that is represented throughout the evening. I have created a few guidelines to make your next cocktail party experience easy and stress-free.

PLANNING

Cocktail party planning starts with sending invitations. They may be formal or informal, but what is important is that they convey proper information regarding the time and the place of the party. Save time and money and send an invite from Evite. com.

THE MENU & BAR

The traditional cocktail party food is hors d’oeuvres—small, savory finger foods that can be eaten in one or two bites. Typically, hors-d’oeuvres are served before a meal and are not meant to be a substitute for a meal.

Set up drinks and hors-d’oeuvres a good distance from each other or at opposite ends of the room, to cut down on traffic around them. Decorate with table linens, candles, and simple floral arrangements. Lighting helps establish the mood of a party.

The most hassle-free way to deal with music is to create a playlist for the party so the music is taken care of for the entire evening..
