THE COMMUNITY GATHERS

Welcome to worship at Centenary! We are a church for everyone. As you prepare for worship, we invite you to greet your neighbor and share the love of Christ. PRELUDE GREETING

INTROIT

Hymn of Praise — René Clausen

Alleluia. Praise God in His holy temple. Amen, amen, alleluia, amen! (Psalm 150)

†CALL TO WORSHIP

Come, people of God, with hearts ready to cry out. Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us!

When others try to silence your need or your voice— We will cry out even more loudly, for Jesus hears us!

Take heart! Get up! He is calling you.

We rise to meet Him, for He invites us to come near. What do you want Jesus to do for you?

Lord, let us see again. Heal our hearts. Restore our hope. Your faith has made you well. Come now, and follow Him on the way. We come to worship the One who sees us, hears us, and makes us whole!

†HYMN OF PROCESSION

#163 Ask Ye What Great Things I Know — HENDON

†AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

We are not alone, we live in God’s world.

We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the church: to celebrate God’s presence, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God. Amen.

†GLORIA PATRI

#71 Glory Be to the Father — GREATOREX

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (Children, kindergartners through third grade, are invited to exit the Sanctuary for Children’s Worship. Children will return to reserved pews in the Sanctuary at the close of worship.)

CANTICLE

Lay Your Healing Hands Upon Me — Rollo Dilworth Lord, lay Your hands upon me. I need a healing! Oh, Lord, won’t You lay Your healing hands upon me? There was a man who needed healing. He was blind and he could not see. The Lord touched him, and he was healed. Oh, surely the Lord will lay His hands upon me! I know the Lord will lay His hands on me. Surely the Lord will lay His hands upon me!

WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED

SCRIPTURE — Mark 10:46-52

This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.
