WE GO AS GOD’S PEOPLE INTO THE WORLD

SERMON — “The Price of Following”

WE RENEW OUR COMMITMENT OFFERTORY My Jesus, I Love Thee — arr. Paul Sjolund My Jesus, I love thee, I know thou art mine; for thee all the follies of sin I resign. My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now. I love thee because thou hast first loved me, and purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree. I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow; if ever I loved thee, my Jesus ‘tis now.

PRELUDE GREETING INTROIT

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross — arr. Gilbert M. Martin Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small. Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

CALL TO WORSHIP Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we are to pray and to give more than either we desire, or deserve: Pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask save through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

HYMN OF PROCESSION #89 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee — HYMN TO JOY

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
