Our Phoenix Promise

YOUR FUTURE SHOULD NOT BE LIMITED BY THE COST OF YOUR EDUCATION Helping you rise to a debt-free degree

WE BELIEVE EVERY STUDENT DESERVES ACCESS TO

HIGHER EDUCATION, WHICH IS WHY WE'RE REMOVING SOME OF THE

FINANCIAL BARRIERS FROM EARNING A FOUR-YEAR DEGREE

Cumberland has been a proud partner of the Tennessee Promise program since its inception, now we're adding the Phoenix Promise to help students complete their bachelor's degree. In addition to the TN Promise program, which allows eligible students to earn an associate degree tuition free, Cumberland is implementing the Phoenix Promise, allowing eligible students to complete their bachelor's degree for the same out-of-pocket costs as they were on the TN Promise program. Using the Phoenix Promise scholarship, eligible students can attend years 2, 3 and 4 of their bachelor's program at the same cost level as their freshman year on the TN Promise program. This scholarship allows eligible TN Promise students and transfer students to finish their degree at Cumberland, without adding any additional tuition costs. We believe that access to a college degree should not be limited by financial restrictions, and we're doing what we can to ensure our students are graduating without formidable student loan debt to prepare for successful futures.

Phoenix Promise Scholarship How does it work? The Phoenix Promise is a last-dollar scholarship, which means that after considering all funding and grants a student is eligible for, the Phoenix Promise covers the remaining balance of tuition and access fees. This means eligible Phoenix Promise students will pay little or no costs outof-pocket for tuition and access fees.

What are the eligibility requirements? While the Phoenix Promise is only available to eligible students beginning at the sophomore level, incoming freshmen students are encouraged to consider this option when planning out their degree and financial aid options. A valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with an expected family contribution (EFC) of 3500 and below - this information is available on your Student Aid Report (SAR) after you fill out your FAFSA Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA, on all college level work, at the 24 and 48 attempted credit hour benchmarks Rising sophomore or junior level student (current CU student or transfer student) Must be a Tennessee resident
