From the President From its beginning in 1842, Cumberland University has grown and advanced its long tradition of excellence to rise, endure, prosper, and illuminate the world. Recognized as one of the fastest-growing liberal arts universities in the state of Tennessee, Cumberland remains committed to evolving and meeting the needs of a diverse and expanding community while providing a transformational higher education experience through more than 100 fully-accredited academic programs of study in three distinct schools.

To ensure our students continue to rise and succeed at Cumberland, we must remain committed to investing in opportunities that enrich our student and campus experience. As a result, Cumberland leadership has launched Ignite the Vision, a major gifts initiative, with a working goal of $1.7 million to enhance, transform, and inspire Cumberland University.

The Opportunity WILL ENHANCE THE CUMBERLAND EXPERIENCE FOR ALL STUDENTS. The student body at Cumberland University continues to grow and thrive. With our enrollment numbers increasing every year, we must actively work to expand and transform our campus to meet the needs of our students. We have the opportunity to enhance the Cumberland experience for all students with Ignite the Vision. Â

This strategic program will focus on four key initiatives: The Phoenix Scholars, The Phoenix Marching Band, The Phillips Dining Hall Expansion, and The Memorial Lawn Enhancements. Each initiative will directly impact our students and ensure Cumberland remains a top competitor in the higher-education market.Â

Phoenix Scholars Outright scholarships awarded to graduates with an associate degree to continue their academic pursuit of a bachelor's degree. $1.7 MILLION MAJOR GIFTS INITIATIVE

$332,500

Phoenix Marching Band Endowed Scholarship Fund of $175,000 to assist in recruitment and growth.

Foundational Investment of $ 215,000 to support a variety of necessities.

$390,000 Phillips Dining Hall Expansion Indoor/outdoor experiential dining expansion that promotes student life and community

$481,500 Memorial Lawn Enhancements Revitalized landscapes, new hardscapes, student life areas, and sidewalk expansions

Jacqueline Cowden Cumberland University Alum, Trustee, Adjunct Professor, and Major Gifts Initiative Chair

Leading the Initiative Philanthropist and former CEO Jackie Cowden is a passionate alum of Cumberland University and Chairman of Ignite the Vision. Ms. Cowden has been an exemplary leader in the community and has served on many boards. She was named Cumberland University "Alumnus of the Year", and she shares her enthusiasm and experience in leadership with Cumberland students as an adjunct professor. Ms. Cowden is proud to stand with Cumberland and lead this initiative.

Give by check or other means of giving cash.

SECURITIES

Send an endorsed stock certificate in one envelope and a signed stock power form in another envelope. The gift is complete on the postmarked date of the later envelope.

BEQUEST

Include CU in your will for a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a remainder gift after bequests to individuals have been paid.

LIFE INSURANCE

Assign a charitable beneficiary (or owner and beneficiary) of an existing or new policy.
