FROM THE DEAN OF STUDENTS Dear Students,

@CSCDean

I want to personally welcome you to the Culver-Stockton community. We are eagerly awaiting your arrival to "the Hill" in August. Are you ready to become a Wildcat? This might seem like a simple question, but the answer requires action from you. Student Life is ready to support you, but it is up to you to make something of your C-SC journey. I hope you are excited, we have been planning for your arrival for over a year. The 2017-18 academic year is going to be an exciting one! As you can see on the Wildcat Welcome schedule, we have planned important and informative events critical to your success. We have made sure there is plenty of time to relax, get settled into your new room, have fun and make new friends. Due to the important issues we will discuss, Wildcat Welcome is a required event for new students, including transfer and non-residential students. You get credit for First Year Experience (FYE) courses by attending these events. So make sure that Aug. 18-20 is on your calendar!

EARLY MOVE-IN AUG. 7 Summer Bridge students and some Fall athletes, including varsity women's volleyball, men's & women's soccer and football will move in on Monday, August 7.

4

There are more than 50 clubs and organizations, intramurals and Greek life opportunities that you can get involved with on our campus! You can “jump right in" and take a leadership role within these groups. In addition, if there is a club or organization you would like to start, we can help you begin the process. I hope you enjoy a great end to your summer, and I look forward to seeing you at Wildcat Welcome. If you or your parents have any questions, please contact me. I look forward to watching you succeed at C-SC! Go Wildcats! (Clap, Clap) D. Christopher Gill, Ph.D. Dean of Student Life cgill@culver.edu 573-288-6334

FRATERNITY & SORORITY LIFE GREETINGS! On behalf of the Office of Greek Life I would like to welcome you to Culver-Stockton College! You have made an excellent choice by deciding to attend C-SC! We look forward to your success and part of your success is campus involvement. Research shows that students who are involved on campus graduate at higher rates than those who are not. Almost 40% of our students are a member of a fraternity or sorority. Greek Life is a great way for incoming students to get involved. Becoming part of a fraternity or sorority provides you with unlimited personal, professional, and academic resources. The lifelong brotherhood and sisterhood in conjunction with the continued character, leadership and life skills development are great rewards as well. Sincerely, Ernest Evans Director of Greek Life and Diversity Initiatives eevans@culver.edu

SORORITIES & FRATERNITIES Interfraternity Council (IFC)

The IFC exists where two or more NIC member fraternities exist on a campus. It serves as the governing body for fraternities that are part of the IFC. There are 71 fraternities under the IFC umbrella. At CulverStockton, there are four of those fraternities; including Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Delta Upsilon Fraternity and Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. We welcome you to participate in our Formal Fraternity Recruitment taking place September 6-11, 2016. During recruitment you will be able to learn about all of the fraternities that we offer here at Culver. You will also be afforded the opportunity to join one of our fraternities if you choose to do so.

Panhellenic Council (PHC)

The PHC serves as the governing body of the three national sororities on campus, which include Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity, Sigma Kappa Sorority and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. The council is responsible for coordinating many of the activities that occur between Greek organizations, which include formal and informal recruitment, Greek Week and Homecoming. In addition to providing leadership opportunities, sorority life offers opportunities for members to participate in philanthropic and community service experiences, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Alzheimer Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Robby Page Memorial.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

The NPHC is the home of our historically African American fraternities and sororities. It is comprised of nine organizations that are pillars in the African American community. These organizations have been deemed as the Divine Nine. The nine organizations are Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. Currently we offer for membership Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. We are looking to grow our NPHC to more organizations.

JOIN GREEK LIFE AT C-SC If you are interested in Sorority or Fraternity Life, we invite you to participate in Formal Recruitment in September.

DIVERSITY INITIATIVES Welcome! We are excited for your arrival and thrilled that you have chosen to jump into the world of higher education as a Wildcat. Here at Culver-Stockton we value all students while welcoming and celebrating the differences and diversity that they bring to our campus. As new college students it is important to know that campus and community involvement are crucial to success, more specifically students of color and students that identify as part of marginalized or underrepresented populations. The Office of Diversity Initiatives acknowledges this and works to promote involvement for all students. We have two organizations that students can get involved in: Black Student Union (BSU): The mission of the Black Student Union

is to develop and foster relationships among students of diverse backgrounds through awareness, education, service and social interaction. This organization works to be a space that students can call their own. They work to promote an understanding of social justice, equality, and inclusion. They also work to create a united campus and provide a support system for students. Student Diversity Council (SDC): The Student Diversity Council

works to promote the diversity, equality, and inclusion education to the area community. This group focuses on awareness events and months, including Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, HIV/AIDS Awareness and LGBTQ+ History Month. It is important that students have a space that they can call their own. I dedicate myself to assisting you in finding that space. Sincerely, Ernest Evans Director of Greek Life and Diversity Initiatives eevans@culver.edu 10
