Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad was founded in 1981 and was established in a premise near Gujarat College in 1982. Began by some of the most prominent personalities of Ahmedabad, the idea was always to spread French culture, language and art in the city. It has indeed been a beautiful journey so far. Alliance Francaise de Baroda as an annexe of Ahmedabad was opened in 2003.

The main pillar of our teaching remains our pedagogy. The French courses are divided in 6 levels as per the common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Supporting these levels are our workshops that help students improve and finish their language. And lastly, a rigorous cultural calendar with almost 100 events every year providing a creative environment for the language to grow as a culture.
Now in One year you can master three levels of French with Alliance Française and in almost 1 and a half year get your international diploma!

French author David Diop will be in conversation with his English translator, Anna Moschovakis, on his book Frère d’âme (At Night All Blood Is Black) which won the International Booker Prize 2021. The book will be published in Malayalam by DC Books with the support of the French Institute’s Publication Assistance Programme (PAP Tagore). Date : Friday, 3rd September Time : 6.30 pm onwards The discussion will be moderated by Jaya Bhattacharji Rose, Ace Literary Consulting and Associate Professor, School of Modern Media Studies, UPES. The conversation will be followed by a Q & A with the audience. This event is in collaboration with the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES). An online training programme for French language teachers: This Autumn University offers seven interesting modules suitable to teachers at different levels – junior school, higher secondary school and universities. These modules are conducted by experts with big professional and teaching experience. The current global circumstances encourage us to prepare for hybrid classes dealing with different thematics. The seven thematics offered this year are: Evaluation in a FLE classroom, Online teaching methodologies in FLE, Playful activities in FLE, FLE for kids, Using authentic documents in classroom teaching, Teaching FLE to big groups and
Today’s French culture and civilisation in FLE. These thematics, selected after consultation with teachers and teachers’ associations are very relevant and pertinent for French teachers, be it for teaching in schools or in universities. Every year, since 2015, an international training programme for French language teachers is organised in India by Institut Français. This university takes place with an outlook towards bringing the best expertise in the field of FLE (French as a foreign language) to the teachers dealing with different themes relevant in today’s teaching. The multiple-choice of topics offered during this Autumn University 2021 allows the teachers from different educational institutions, with different needs, to select the most suitable for their immediate requirements.
