Editorial
Chers amis de l’Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad,
Dear friends of Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad,
Le Phénix
The Phoenix
The Phoenix-like Ahmedabad AF rises from its ashes after a hard year for all of us due to the exceptional global crisis which has hit morale and human contact, slowed down education and cultural activities. But finally, the pandemic is abating and we are starting to resume activities with a TEF and DELF session in September, the first in India and a new session or French language exams plannedg in November & December. We are waiting for the green light to resume classes at AF and reopen it to all lovers of the French language. All this while respecting health security of course. Culture is also reborn with a month of digital art, a special edition of “Novembre Numérique” where the Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad offers exhibitions, round tables and exchanges with artists and curators from 5 countries of South Asia and France. A first that promises to be exciting. Stay glued to the deconfine.org site created for the occasion. See you soon then, in a world that is becoming more and more real.

Petit Pays (Small Country) Exclusive Screening and Discussion 26th November2020 | 6:30 pm
To celebrate the publication of
Gaël Faye’s acclaimed novel Petit Pays (Small Country) in Hindi, The French Institute is pleased to organize an exclusive screening of the film Petit Pays (Small Country) by Eric Barbier. The story takes you through a touching childhood, set during the ethnic conflict in Rwanda. The drama follows the journey of Gabriel, aged 10, who lives in a comfortable expat neighborhood in Burundi, his “small country”. Gabriel is a normal kid, happy and carefree, who enjoys adventures with his friends and little sister. Then in 1993,
tensions in neighboring Rwanda spillover, threatening his family and his innocence. The movie will be screened by Institut Français Paris, in collaboration with the Alliances Françaises in India. and the Indian Association of Teachers of French (IATF) as part of the IATF annual congress. Indeed the event coincides with the International French Teacher’s Day (26 November). The screening will be followed by a conversation with Gaël Faye, the writer. Découvrir | Nov-Dec 2020 | 25
