Bonjour India, Bonjour Ahmedabad,

Bonjour India, Bonjour Ahmedabad,

It was a immense pleasure for Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad team to welcome back the people of Ahmedabad to our cultural events. Launched at the end of March by 3 events in presence of the Consul General of France Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet and the culture attaché Diane Josse, the highlight was the exhibition Convergence at Amdavad ni Gufa followed by the exhibition of our former President of AF, the famous photographer P.M Dalwadi and a Dance performance in Natarani inaugurating at the same time the reopening of this famous theater. All themes and arts were covered, for example with Café Cinéma combining tasting of French dishes prepared by our French chefs Flavien and Brahim and the screening of the moving and instructive film "Délicieux", or even this "City for All" survey with all the communities of Ahmedabad to learn about their lifestyle followed by an exhibition and a party on the roof terraces of the Pols in the old city.

Classes have resumed in the AF, the media library is open and our exams have continued to take place regularly in our premises.

Come back to see us, your French house is fully open and eager to see you again. Coming these 2 months, literary meetings with the cartoonist JUL for example, or the Fête de la Musique on June 21 and of course our intensive summer courses.

Testimonials

I have been a part of Alliance Française Baroda for both, offline as well as online sessions. I have to say, both have been equally well-detailed and super fun. There have been no glitches when it came to online classes. The best part about the curriculum is that it is organized in the most comprehensive way which helps students not only learn but also revise the concepts. The faculties are extremely passionate, friendly and up-to-date making it easy for the students to constantly stay motivated and enthusiastic. The best part about my lectures were the discussions and debates which helped all the learners to come across various ideas and expressions. Alliance Française Baroda also gives equal importance to co-curricular activities as it does to academics. This enables students to meet and interact with natives and experts of the language. Overall, I am so glad and proud that I am a part of Alliance Française Baroda. I would surely recommend it as the best place to learn French.

He has worked in Mumbai and Delhi for a decade, in the areas of e-learning, broadcast and motion graphics, and visual effects. He has been teaching for the last thirteen years in the Animation Film Design department (at both BDes and MDes levels) of which he has been the Discipline Lead for the last eight years. He is also the co-head of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at NID, Ahmedabad. During his time as Discipline Lead, Dhiman has been instrumental in shaping an industry-relevant curriculum with a strong focus on storytelling and creating original content. Apart from mentoring animation students in their films, Dhiman also teaches courses like Storyboarding, Storytelling, Sequential and Graphic Narratives (Comic Book), Time & Image, Sound Design, Music Appreciation for the Animation and Film Departments and Geometric Construction and for the Design Foundation Programme. Dhiman is also an artist, he loves drawing from life, his favourite subjects are people, animals, spaces, nature and architecture especially that which has historical relevance and stories embedded within; his sketchbook is his constant companion, pen and ink is his favourite medium to work in. The fluid and high contrast medium of ink allows him to work fast and include a level of abstraction in an otherwise representational style that he follows. In his artwork, Dhiman is continuously experimenting with composition and framing, movement in stillness, the balance of light and shadow and the use of negative space.

Dhiman’s artwork can be found on his Instagram page under the handle @ dhiman.sengupta and on his website www.dhimansengupta. com
