Pour les français, le 21 juin est une date à part. C’est le début officiel de l’été - la saison préférée de la plupart d’entre nous - c’est le jour le plus long de l’année et, depuis plus de 40 ans, c’est aussi La Fête de la Musique. Depuis sa création en 1982, cette célébration a rapidement conquis le monde entier, preuve manifeste de la dimension universelle de la musique.

Fêter la musique, c’est fêter un langage mondial et millénaire, qui transcende les barrières culturelles et linguistiques. La musique a indéniablement une valeur sociale forte et ce pouvoir unique : celui de rassembler les gens, quels que soient leurs origines et d’engendrer un sens immédiat de communauté et d’unité.

Jouer ou écouter de la musique, c’est laisser libre cours à ses émotions, exprimer ou ressentir ce que les mots seuls ne parviennent pas à dire.

En juin, pendant trois jours, que nous soyons musiciens ou chanteurs, amateurs ou professionnels, ou tout simplement mélomanes, c’est toutes ces valeurs que nous célébrerons, à travers concerts et ateliers, pour le plaisir d’être ensemble et de partager ce qui nous unit.

Dear friends of Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad,,

The 21st of June is a special day for French people. It is the official start of summer - the favourite season for most - it is the longest day of the year, and, for over 40 years, it has also been La Fête de la Musique, Music Day. Since its creation in 1982, this celebration has quickly conquered the whole world, a firm proof of the universal scope of music.

Celebrating music is celebrating a thousand-year-old global language, that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. Music has a strong, undeniable, social value. It has the unique power to bring people of all background together, fostering a sense of community and unity.

Playing or listening to music entails giving free rein to emotions, expressing, or feeling what words alone cannot say.

In June, for three days, whether we are musicians or singers, amateurs or professionals, or simply music-lovers, we will celebrate all these values, with concerts and workshops, for the pleasure of being together and sharing what unites us.

THE FRENCH DOCTORAL SCHOOLS

The Doctorate is organised by "Doctoral schools". There are 270 Doctoral schools attached to 2,500 public research laboratories throughout the entire country. Each Doctoral School has several research laboratories. The Doctoral Schools organise and supervise the doctoral students with additional classes in methodology, communication, writing scientific papers, starting a company, intellectual property, etc.

Nearly 15,000 Doctorates are conferred in France each year: 46% in science and technology, 20% in Biology-Medicine, 20% in the humanities and 14% in the social sciences.
