WELCOME TO CHESTER RUFC

Chester Rugby Club is the largest recreational member’s club in the Chester area.

We were founded in 1925 and first played our matches on temporary pitches on the Roodee. We moved to our present ground at Hare Lane in 1961. The ‘new’ clubhouse was built in 1994 and we began hosting the RFU funded Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) in 2017.

We have nearly 2,000 individual members, including 850 active players in over 35 teams from under 5’s right up to our veterans and walking rugby players. Our 1st team plays in the higher leagues of English rugby and we have one of the largest and fastest growing women & girl’s sections in the country. We have a large contingent of social members, spectators, coaches and supportive parents of our junior team members.

Our facilities are second to none and are the envy of many of our visiting teams. In addition to the AGP, we have 8 grass pitches, 3 squash courts and a fabulous club house which has a 2,500 square feet function area, a café, an award-winning caterer and 3 bars –a great place to host our many social events.

We are a friendly bunch at Chester Rugby Club. Our mission is to provide a positive and welcoming environment for all our members and visitors by maintaining our family culture, continually improving our facilities, fostering rugby in all its formats and providing tangible opportunities for all, whether it is progression to senior rugby or maintaining an enjoyable involvement in the game such as supporting our teams and joining in with social events.

Maintaining our fantastic facilities does not come cheap though and we are so lucky to have the support and sponsorship of many generous local firms such as Cullimore

Dutton. Sponsorship provides so many benefits, not least the opportunity for significant brand awareness around the ground to the many thousands of visitors we have each year.
