WELCOME TO JUNE’S CLIENT NEWSLETTER
An exciting summer of culture awaits.
This month, we meet new recruit Ajith Prasad (who recently joined our Litigation team as a Solicitor), we get to know Ajith a little better with a Q&A. We also hear about seven fantastic fund-raisers from our team who took on Cancer Research’s Race for Life at Delamere Forest in May.
We preview the cultural feast which awaits Chester this summer with the return of Storyhouse’s Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre (1 July – 27 August). This summer features performances of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. The open air entertainment continues across the region as Storyhouse’s Moonlight Flicks also returns for a summer run.
The cultural delights continue as we welcome back the world-famous Chester Mystery Plays (28 June – 15 July), making a return this summer after a five-year hiatus.
We hope you have a great summer!

Q&A WITH AJITH PRASAD
We are delighted to introduce Ajith Prasad who recently joined our Litigation team as a Solicitor. Here we get to know our newest recruit a little better.
When did you know you wanted a legal career and what was your journey to this point?
I studied law at university but was not sure if I wanted to pursue a legal career. During my second year I secured a mini-pupillage with a barrister and shadowed him as he sat as a part-time judge which I enjoyed. I also obtained work experience at a firm in Chester which solidified my interest in a legal career.
What motivated you to apply for a position at Cullimore Dutton?
I grew up n Chester and was aware of Cullimore Dutton, knowing them as a wellrespected and established firm, so when a position came up I made sure to apply. After meeting with Andrew Wright the Managing Director and hearing his plans for the future I was eager to join the firm and begin a new chapter in my career.

What do you enjoy most about being a solicitor?
I enjoy the constant challenges the job brings, with no two days the same. Lawyers, especially in litigation, often have to analyse evidence and cases in order to create strategies and resolve issues for their clients and this fits in with my skill set.
What is one thing that not many people know about you?
I was once featured on ITV’s ‘You’ve been Framed’.
Tells us more…
As a young child I was filmed climbing up a small slide, however upon reaching the top, rather than sliding down it I toppled off! I never saw any of that £250!
Is there anyone who has had a significant influence on your life, and what impact have they had?
Probably my first supervising partner. He had a great work ethic and was a real enthusiast of the law. He was diligent, meticulous, and always made the time to talk through any questions I had. I aspire to work to the same high standards & hope to inspire junior colleagues when they begin their careers.
Tell us about what you like to do outside of work.
I play cricket, football, and badminton for local clubs in Chester and Liverpool. To relax I enjoy reading historical non-fiction and making use of my National Trust membership visiting interesting and historic places around the UK with my family.

OUR TEAM OF RUNNERS TAKE ON THE RACE FOR LIFE
A team of seven intrepid Cullimore Dutton runners took part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at Delamere Forest on the 21 May
Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s biggest series of fundraising events. Taking place across the UK, the events include 3k, 5k and 10k routes.
Race for Life started 30 years ago as a womenonly event. The first event was held in Battersea, in 1994, where 750 participants raised £48,000. Since that point, Race for Life has grown into a series of hundreds of events across the country, raising over £940 million towards beating cancer over the last quarter of a century.
In 2019, for the first time, the Race for Life opened its doors to men to participate too, making it a truly inclusive event, giving people the chance to come together with their family and friends, and join the movement to help beat cancer.
Delamere Forest’s scenic Race for Life course featured a mixture of terrain such as winding trails and undulating stone paths all through the charming Cheshire woodland.
Seven members of our team took part in the 5k race including Legal Assistant Daisy Burton, Trainee Solicitors Francesca Crank and Isabella Martindale. Senior Paralegal, Sarah Gill, Solicitor and Associate Director, Louise Holmes, Solicitor Kainat Jones and Legal Secretary Rhodri Roberts.
Rhodri said: “The Race for Life is not only a good opportunity for me to dress up in a dodgy Hawaiian shirt and to be outrun by the others, but is also a great opportunity for us to raise money for a good cause.
“Supporting any charity/good cause is often a deeply personal matter revolving around loved ones, challenges in our own lives or simply to play a part in defeating a particular condition.”
Rhodri has a Go Fund me page and would welcome and donations no mater how great or small. Anyone wishing to donate can do so by clicking here.
