CU SPORTS MEDICINE FALL SYMPOSIUM
Speakers Sherrie Ballantine-Talmadge, DO Dr. Sherrie Ballantine-Talmadge, DO is a Chicagoland native and former team physician for Northwestern University. As a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician, she enjoys utilizing her broad spectrum of training to care for active individuals and athletes. Her unique combination of osteopathic and sports training allows her to approach patients in a comprehensive manner, including osteopathic manipulation as needed, for the recreational to the Olympic-level athlete. Dr. Ballantine-Talmadge completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship in Toledo, Ohio. She has worked at three Division I universities, and travels as a team physician with US Figure Skating. She has also provided coverage at the Chicago Marathon and at the Kona Ironman Triathlon. She is the current Vice Chair of US Figure Skating’s Sports Science and Medicine Committee as well as the Alternate Team Physician for US Figure Skating for the 2026 Milan Olympics. Dr. Ballantine-Talmadge relocated to Colorado to enjoy hiking as well as skiing, canoeing, horseback riding and many other outdoor activities with her husband and daughters.
Matthew Belton, MD Dr. Matthew Belton is an Orthopedic Hand Surgeon at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He grew up in Southern California before attending the University of Notre Dame for college and the University of Texas for medical school. After completing an orthopedic residency at the University of Colorado and a fellowship at the University of Utah, he began practice in 2021. His practice is largely focused in the Boulder and Longmont region, where he sees patients of all ages for hand, wrist, and elbow injuries. He also works with CU Athletics and its associated club sports. His academic responsibilities include serving as Associate Program Director of the orthopedic residency program, as well as teaching residents, medical students, PA students, and hand fellows. His research interests include patient-reported outcomes and biomechanical evaluations.
Jonathan Bravman, MD Dr. Bravman treats a wide variety of sports, shoulder, knee, and trauma conditions. Fellowshiptrained in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Harvard-Massachusetts General Hospital, his research interests have focused on shoulder instability, clavicle fracture fixation biomechanics of ACL reconstruction, outcomes of shoulder surgery, as well as injuries in skeletally immature athletes, which has resulted in multiple regional, national and international presentations and publications. He has established himself as an orthopaedic innovator and young leader in his field.
Louis W. Catalano III, MD Dr. Catalano is a board certified, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon. After almost 21 years of practice in NYC, in December 2021, he relocated his practice to Denver CO. He currently works both at Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Englewood and at UC Anschutz Medical Center in Aurora. He is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Program Director of the Hand Fellowship. His numerous publications have appeared in many leading surgical publications. He is a consultant reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Journal of Hand Surgery. Dr. Catalano frequently gives national research presentations on hand and upper extremity surgery and is active in several national academic organizations including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Originally from outside Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Catalano currently resides in Castle Rock CO with his family. In addition to fishing and swimming, Dr. Catalano has participated in marathon and triathlon races to raise money for cancer research. He is also a founding member of Team Continuum, which has raised millions of dollars for cancer patients and their families.
Bradley Changstrom, MD Dr. Changstrom is a board-certified internist and fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician with the University of Colorado School of Medicine. A nationally recognized leader in sports medicine education, he serves as Medical Director of Sports Medicine for the American Board of Family Medicine, overseeing sports medicine certification and board examination activities.Dr. Changstrom has extensive experience caring for elite athletes, having served as a team physician for the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rapids, Denver Nuggets, and as Head Team Primary Care Physician for the Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche. He also works closely with University of Colorado student-athletes and local high school athletes. His clinical and research interests include non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, bone stress injuries, tendinopathies, relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), sports performance, injury prevention, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and medical conditions affecting athletes. A Colorado native and former Academic All-American collegiate tennis player, Dr. Changstrom remains passionate about helping athletes of all ages and abilities stay healthy and perform at their best.

Jessica Churchill, MD Dr. Jessica Churchill grew up in Wisconsin with her three younger siblings. She completed her medical training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. Following medical school, Dr. Churchill completed orthopaedic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH, followed by specialized fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. She has extensive experience with shoulder pathology, including complex arthroplasty and revision cases. Dr. Churchill moved to Denver to be closer to family and is loving it. She joined Denver Health in March, 2024. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, long distance running, and hiking.
William Ciccone, MD Dr. Ciccone earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder and graduated with honors from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine. After medical school he completed his internship and residency at the Pennsylvania State University, Hershey Medical Center. He went on the complete fellowship training in arthroscopy and sports medicine at the University of California San Diego.
Jason Dragoo, MD Jason L. Dragoo, MD is a Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs at the University of Colorado. He is the Endowed Chair of Regenerative Medicine and is the Director of the Steadman Hawkins Clinic and Regenerative Medicine Center. He specializes in Sports Medicine and is the Head Team Physician for the Denver Nuggets and an associate Team Physician for the Denver Broncos. He also serves as a consultant team physician for the US Ski Team. Dr. Dragoo currently serves as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of AANA and is the Chair of the AAOS Devices, Biologics and Technology Committee. He was the inaugural President of the Biologics Association, which is a multi-subspecialty national society for Biologics, and is also active member of the AANA Education, Development and Finance Committees. His basic science and clinical research have led to many advances in the use of biologics to augment tissue healing including: 1) investigations on new formulations and applications platelet rich plasma (PRP) and autologous growth factors, 2) cartilage regeneration using adult adiposederived cells, and 3) the development of 2nd generation methods, using autologous blood products, for tissue repair.
Rachel Frank, MD Dr. Rachel Frank is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist who focuses on the surgical and non-surgical management of knee and shoulder injuries. Dr. Frank has specialized training and technical expertise in the areas of advanced knee and shoulder arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, cartilage/meniscus restoration surgery, shoulder instability surgery, and biologic treatments for musculoskeletal pathology. Dr. Frank earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois while playing 4 years of Division I Soccer, and her medical degree (MD) at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She then completed her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the renowned Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL as well as a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center, where she assisted in taking care of the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Fire Soccer Club. Currently, Dr. Frank serves as Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is Director of the Joint Preservation Program at the University of Colorado, is head orthopaedic surgeon for the Colorado Rapids professional soccer team, and is a team physician for US Soccer. Dr. Frank has authored or co-authored over 350 peer-reviewed journal articles, over 50 book chapters, and presents her research both nationally and internationally at orthopaedic meetings every year.
Jeffrey D. Hassebrock, MD Dr. Jeffrey D. Hassebrock is an upper extremity sports surgeon at Mayo Clinic specializing in arthroscopic and open approaches to the upper extremity. Dr. Hassebrock completed two subspecialty orthopedic fellowships. The first, at the University of Colorado for his Sports and Shoulder fellowship where he developed a true love for shoulder pathology and returning patients back to their prior high levels of activity. He then spent a year at the University of Virginia for a Hand/upper extremity fellowship taking care of athletes of all ages with upper extremity problems. Dr. Hassebrock sees the full spectrum of injuries to the shoulder and elbow and in addition treats the athletic and traumatic injuries of the hand and wrist.
Jeffrey D. Hassebrock, MD DArmodios M. Hatzidakis, MD, FAAOS, is an orthopaedic specialist at Western Orthopaedics, P.C., in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Hatzidakis was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated with a BA degree from Grinnell College (Iowa) and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After medical school, he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training at the University of Nebraska and Creighton University combined residency program. He then pursued American and European shoulder and elbow fellowships; spending one year with upper extremity specialists in San Francisco and then eight months at centers of excellence in England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and France. In addition to general orthopaedic and fracture care, Dr. Hatzidakis’ primary expertise is in treatment of the shoulder and elbow, specializing in arthroscopic ("scope") surgery for athletic injuries, rotator cuff, instability and fracture repair, shoulder and elbow replacement, and complex revision/salvage surgery, including reversed shoulder replacement. He is active in teaching other surgeons complex shoulder reconstruction techniques, has co-authored numerous articles and book chapters on shoulder surgery, and is a recipient of the Neer Clinical Science Award for excellence in shoulder and elbow research. Dr. Hatzidakis is Board Certified, a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). Dr. Hatzidakis joined Western Orthopaedics, P.C. in 2003.
Nathan Howell, MD Nathan Howell, MD, is a fellowship-trained pediatric sports medicine physician at Children’s Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado. He specializes in the care of young athletes, with clinical interests in chronic and overuse injuries, concussion management, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and sports-related injuries affecting the knee, foot, ankle, and spine. Dr. Howell earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and completed both his pediatric residency and sports medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado. He is dedicated to providing patient-centered care that helps young athletes return safely and confidently to the activities they love.
John D. Kelly IV, MD John D. Kelly IV, attended Columbia University in New York where he received the Class of ’19 Football cup to the varsity football player with the highest academic average in addition to attaining ‘Delaware All American’ status. He graduated with Honors at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he received the Swain Award for ‘easing the burden of fellow students’, the Pharmacology Prize and the CIBA award for patient communication skills. He serves as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Director of Shoulder Sports Med at Penn and recently received the Neer Award for his research in the throwing athlete. He has a profound interest in physician leadership development, well-being and he lectures and has written extensively on matters of wellness and personal balance. He also is a standup comedian and has appeared on ‘Oprah Radio’ and in Atlantic City. Dr. Kelly has served various leadership positions including President of Penn Ortho Society, President Philadelphia Chapter Lumen Institute, President of Eastern Ortho Assoc., Board of Trustees Arthroscopy Journal, Board of Trustees OREF, President of AANA and Vice Chair of the Council of Delegates of the AOSSM. He has received numerous awards for both teaching and clinical excellence. He serves as adjunct faculty in the McNulty Leadership Program at Wharton. Dr. Kelly has been married to the love of his life, Marie S. Kelly, for 39 years and are the proud parents of twin daughters Mary Boling, MBA and Ann Marie, MD.
Fraser Leversedge, MD Dr. Leversedge is Professor and Chief of the Section of Hand, Wrist, and Elbow Surgery in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Colorado. He is Co-Director of the multispecialty Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury Program. Dr. Leversedge has clinical and research interests in peripheral nerve injury and repair, tendon injury and reconstruction, functional anatomy, and wrist reconstruction. Dr Leversedge was Director of the Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship and Vice-Chair, Education in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University from 20092020 and prior to his move to North Carolina, he was in private practice for 8 years in Denver with Hand Surgery Associates. Dr. Leversedge has served two terms on the Council for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, including as Research Division Director, and has held several leadership positions in the AAOS, AOA, and ASSH. Dr. Leversedge has been an IOC site physician for two Olympic Games: 2004 – Athens (Men’s Basketball) and 2010 – Vancouver (Men’s Ice Hockey), and he has served as a consulting physician for numerous collegiate and professional sports teams including the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Rapids. Dr. Leversedge grew up in Victoria, Canada, and prior to medicine pursued his passion for soccer, playing internationally for Canada and with several European clubs including Norwich City (England), Queen’s Park (Scotland), and KTH Diest (Belgium). He attended Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) and Dartmouth Medical School, before completing his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Emory University and his Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery fellowship at Washington University in St Louis. Recently, he and his wife Kimberly have become “empty nesters”, but now enjoy traveling to keep up with and to visit their three daughters!
Braden Mayer, MD Braden Mayer, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with expertise in treating shoulder, knee, and sports-related injuries. His clinical focus includes minimally invasive shoulder and knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and complex shoulder replacement surgery. In addition to his orthopedic residency and sports medicine fellowship training, Dr. Mayer completed advanced shoulder surgery training in Zurich, Switzerland, under internationally renowned shoulder surgeon Professor Christian Gerber. He has performed hundreds of complex shoulder replacements and resurfacing procedures with excellent outcomes. Dr. Mayer has extensive experience caring for athletes at all levels, having served as a Team Physician for the Denver Broncos for 11 seasons and currently serving as an Associate Team Physician for the Colorado Rockies. He is committed to delivering personalized, evidence-based care that helps patients return to the activities they enjoy.

Eric McCarty, MD Dr. Eric McCarty is a nationally and internationally recognized sports medicine trained orthopedic surgeon and shoulder specialist.He serves as the Chief of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine where he is a full Professor. He also is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado, Boulder.Additionally, Dr. McCarty serves as the head team physician for the University of Colorado athletic teams and the Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club. Dr. McCarty has a long-time interest in sports medicine, athletics and particularly football. His passion for treating the active individual stems from his experience at the University of Colorado, where he excelled and received numerous honors for his exploits in the classroom as well as on the football field as he was an All Big-Eight linebacker and also was an Academic All-American. Dr. McCarty is very active in research, teaching, education, leadership, and writing in the field of sports medicine and knee and shoulder surgery. He has received numerous grants and awards for his research and has more than 300 publications in the field of sports medicine. He is also very active in national and international sports medicine and arthroscopic societies with positions of leadership in those societies including currently serving on the board of directors as the president for the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).
Thomas Noonan, MD Dr. Noonan joined the Steadman Hawkins Clinic Denver in January of 2002 and was instrumental in the process of the Clinic joining the University of Colorado in 2016. He specializes in the treatment of shoulder, elbow, and knee disorders. He is also skilled in the evaluation of general orthopedic problems such as fractures and sprains. He is the Head Team Physician for the Colorado Rockies major league baseball team and a team physician for Valor Christian High School. Dr. Noonan graduated Summa Cum Laude from Princeton University where he majored in Civil Engineering and Operations Research. He was also honored by being selected for induction into Phi Beta Kappa. He played varsity football as well as intramural ice hockey while at Princeton. He then attended the Duke University School of Medicine where he was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He was also presented with the Dean’s recognition award at graduation. He stayed at Duke University for his orthopedic surgery residency training and then performed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association (past President), and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. Dr. Noonan is an expert in baseball medicine and continues to perform research in this area. He is a founding member of the Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) Study group, a select group of international surgeons dedicated to improving the treatment and prevention of UCL injuries. Dr. Noonan is an assistant editor for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and a Senior Clinical Instructor in the Department of Family Medicine He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of Bioengineering in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Denver.
Sourav K. Poddar, MD Sourav K. Poddar, MD is a nationally recognized sports medicine physician, educator, and researcher who serves as Chief of Primary Care Sports Medicine and Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is also Chief Medical Officer for the University of Colorado Buffaloes and has served as a consultant for numerous professional teams and elite athletes during his career. Dr. Poddar completed his undergraduate studies in biochemistry at Rice University, earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and completed both his Family Medicine residency and Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado. A leader in sports medicine for more than two decades, Dr. Poddar has held numerous national leadership roles with the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), NCAA sports medicine committees, and national concussion and athlete-safety task forces. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for AMSSM. His contributions to research, education, and athlete health have earned him multiple honors, including the prestigious Neer Award from the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and an inaugural AOSSM 12th Man Award. Dr. Poddar has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national presentations focused on sports injuries, concussion management, athlete safety, and orthopedic sports medicine. He remains actively involved in clinical care, research, medical education, and advancing the health and performance of athletes at all levels.
Richard Rokos Richard Rokos recently retired after an extraordinary 34-year coaching career at the University of Colorado, including 31 seasons as head coach of the men’s and women’s ski teams (1991–2021). One of the most successful coaches in CU history, he led the Buffaloes to eight NCAA Championships, 14 RMISA titles, and 23 top-three NCAA finishes, while coaching 46 individual NCAA champions and more than 240 All-Americans. A five-time United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association National Coach of the Year, Rokos is widely recognized for building one of the premier collegiate ski programs in the nation. Originally from Brno, Czechoslovakia, Rokos immigrated to the United States with his family in 1980 and has called Colorado home since 1982. In addition to his coaching accomplishments, he is an ordained minister who has officiated nearly 40 weddings, many involving former CU athletes and coaches.
Adam Seidl, MD Dr. Seidl is a fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow surgeon, Fellowship Director of the ASES Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship, Chief of Orthopedics Service Line for UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital, and Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz. He has been trained by and worked with world-renowned shoulder and elbow surgeons in the United States and France. As a Colorado native, Dr. Seidl is an active outdoorsman and enjoys fishing and skiing. Having been an athlete in college, Dr. Seidl has a keen interest in treating athletes, both competitive and recreational. Dr. Seidl’s clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of all shoulder and elbow problems. He has advanced training in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery, joint replacement and fracture care. Dr. Seidl is dedicated to understanding the needs of his patients and determining the safest and most effective treatment for each individual.
Derek Stokes, MD Derek Stokes, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Sports Medicine Physician and Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He also serves as Team Physician for the Colorado Mammoth and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of sports and activityrelated injuries in athletes and active individuals of all ages. Dr. Stokes completed his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia, followed by residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado and a Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Utah. His clinical expertise includes musculoskeletal ultrasound, sports injury prevention and treatment, exertional leg pain, orthobiologics, and comprehensive non-surgical musculoskeletal care. An active researcher and educator, Dr. Stokes has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications focused on sports medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound, tendon pathology, and athlete health. He is a member of both the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). As a former collegiate basketball player, Dr. Stokes brings a unique perspective to patient care, helping athletes and active individuals safely return to the activities they enjoy and perform at their highest level.
Zach Thomas, DPT Zach Thomas is a dual board-certified physical therapist in both Sports and Orthopedics currently working at UCHeatlh Steadman Hawkins Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center in Denver, CO. Prior to joining UCHealth, Thomas attended Ithaca College for both his undergraduate and graduate studies where he received his DPT in 2020. He was the recipient of the Health Science and Human Performance Professional and Graduate Professional Excellence Awards in 2018 and 2020 respectively. Following graduation, he continued to pursue a higher education completing an Orthopedic residency in 2021 at Stanford Health Care in Redwood City, CA as well as a Sports fellowship at ASMI/Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama in 2023 mentoring under Dr. Kevin Wilk. After completing residency and fellowship training, Zach joined Piedmont Healthcare and the University of Georgia in Athens, GA working with athletes in the community as well as directly assisting the medical staff for UGA football on rehabilitation programming. During his career in sports medicine, Zach has worked with numerous patients, in the clinic and training room setting with a variety of orthopedic conditions both nonoperative and postsurgical. He has worked with athletes ranging from the youth athlete to those at the professional level in the NFL, MLB, and NBA. Thomas is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and active in research within the field of sports medicine. He has authored multiple articles and a text chapter as well as presenting at both regional and national sports medicine meetings.

Kevin Wilk, PT, DPT, FAPTA Kevin Wilk, PT, DPT, FAPTA, is one of the world’s leading experts in sports physical therapy and rehabilitation, with more than 43 years of clinical experience. A graduate of Northwestern University Medical School’s Physical Therapy Program and holder of a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Dr. Wilk currently serves as Associate Clinical Director of Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, and National Vice President of Clinical Research and Education. He is also the Director of Rehabilitative Research at the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center (ASMI) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Marquette University’s Physical Therapy Program. For more than three decades, Dr. Wilk has worked alongside renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, helping advance the fields of sports medicine and rehabilitation. His distinguished career includes consulting roles with professional sports organizations such as the Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Rays, and Chicago White Sox. A prolific author and researcher, he has published more than 183 peer-reviewed articles and authored 12 textbooks. Dr. Wilk’s contributions to the profession have earned him numerous honors, including induction into the Sports Physical Therapy Hall of Fame, the Catherine Worthingham Fellowship of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Frank Jobe Award from Major League Baseball Team Physicians, the Ron Peyton Achievement and Education Awards, and the prestigious 2026 “12th Man” Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Despite his extensive accomplishments, Dr. Wilk remains actively involved in patient care, research, and education, lecturing at professional conferences around the world. Throughout his career, he has treated many of the most recognized athletes and entertainers, including Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Drew Brees, Triple H, John Cena, Charles Barkley, Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Mariano Rivera, Scottie Pippen, Vince Carter, Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, and many others.
Michelle Wolcott, MD Michelle Wolcott, MD is an Associate Professor and Sports Medicine fellowship-trained, boardcertified Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her expertise is in the treatment of complex knee, ankle and shoulder problems. Dr. Wolcott serves as team physician for the University of Colorado Athletics-Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball and head team physician for the Colorado Mammoth. She is and active marathon runner and has a special interest in runner’s injuries, pediatric sports medicine and women’s sports medicine. She participates in community education regarding preventions of injuries and proper training techniques. Activity Overview This live activity offers continuous didactic lectures with an opportunity for Q&A sessions and interactive discussions through panels and case studies. Target Audience This symposium is intended for physicians and allied health professionals who are involved in the care of athletes. The objective of this course is to educate participants on the best methods of managing athletes with injuries of the upper extremity. According to the education levels described by the PDC, the following continuing education course is considered to be Advanced Level. This course is led by Eric McCarty, MD, at the CU School of Medicine Department of Orthopedics. Learning Objectives Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to: · Identify indications for surgical and non-operative treatments of rotator cuff tears. · Appy appropriate rehabilitation strategies for the SCK scapula. · Apply imaging and examination techniques to understand the issues that throwing athletes have with the shoulder and elbow and will implement strategies to improve treatment of these athletes.
