Reiki 2 Hilary Rudenauer, RMT, CYT In this Level 2 training, participants will expand upon the skills they learned in Reiki 1 and acquire new ways to work with Reiki energy. We will explore distance and emotional healing techniques, Reiki for animals, using Reiki to manifest goals, scanning methods that can be used to determine where Reiki is needed, and more. Students will receive another attunement, learn Reiki symbols, and have the opportunity to practice giving Reiki to others using their new symbols and techniques. Throughout the training we will discuss how the content applies to the mental health profession. In addition, guest speakers who work within different mental health settings will share their experiences integrating Reiki into their work. Upon completion of this course, participants will be certified Reiki 2 practitioners.

Psychopharmacology: The Basics and Beyond Part 1 Peter Tolinsano, PsyD, ABPP Part 1: This course includes an overview presentation to help participants better understand the usages of psychotropic medications. Herbal Harm Reduction: An Herbalist’s Approach to Recovery Nora Toomey This full-day training explores foundational approaches to supporting people who use drugs (PWUD), regardless of where they are in their substance use or recovery journey. This course is designed not only for practitioners and recovery coaches, but also for individuals who want to support themselves, their loved ones, or their clients through substance use and addiction. The training will focus primarily on opioid and alcohol use. Through lecture and live demonstrations, participants will explore how plant-based protocols can support both the physical and emotional body. Using a harm reduction framework, we will outline herbal approaches that may support pain management, withdrawal symptoms, wound care, immune resilience, and nervous system regulation. Participants will also explore the critical role of grief and trauma in addiction and recovery. We will discuss practical, body-centered ways to support emotional processing, explore traditional and contemporary perspectives on how grief is stored in the body, and examine plants and flower essences commonly used to support grief and trauma integration.

This will be one of four programs in which each DBT skills module is presented in more detail than an introductory DBT training program. Re-Humanizing Harm: Moving Beyond Cancel Culture Toward Trauma-Informed, Restorative Responses Marlee Liss In a time of rising polarization, burnout, and public call-outs, service providers and victim advocates are increasingly navigating complex harm, conflict, and accountability in both their professional and personal lives. In this powerful and practical training, restorative justice advocate Marlee Liss invites participants to critically examine the impacts of “cancel culture” and punitive approaches, while offering trauma-informed, non-carceral alternatives that center healing, accountability, and community care. Through victim-centered storytelling, pop culture case studies, and interactive reflection, participants will explore how shamebased responses to harm can perpetuate cycles of violence, disconnection, and mental health challenges. Grounded in restorative justice principles, this session equips attendees with tools to re-humanize themselves and others, transforming conflict into opportunities for growth, repair, and deeper understanding. Participants will learn how to hold nuance, navigate difficult conversations with empathy, and foster environments rooted in psychological safety and belonging. Addressing Racing or Problematic Thoughts with Chanting and Meditation Christine Saari MA, E-RYT 200, C-BDYT Sara Merrick-Albano, E-RYT 500, C-BDYT Racing thoughts, rumination, and persistent worry are common in behavioral health care and can interfere with sleep, concentration, emotional regulation, and present-moment awareness, often persisting even when clients recognize their thoughts as unhelpful. Trauma Healing Can Be Fun: Somatic Experiencing® Sensorimotor Activities for Self-Regulation Beth Robins-Roth, APRN, SEP The chronic dysregulation of unresolved trauma/PTSD is responsible for personal suffering, relationship havoc, and dysfunction in community and society. In this highly active Somatic Experiencing Trauma Healing workshop we will explore a variety of brief sensorimotor activities using readily available “props” for somatic awareness and physiologic self-regulation. These “props” may include, but are not limited to: small trampoline, bean bag recliner chair, Smovey Rings, stuffed animals, weighted blankets, ankle weights, rope, Pilates ball, hand therapy rings, body blade, velcro mitts, magic wands, rocking chair, TV remote control, and Tibetan singing bowl. Presentation of each activity will include demonstration, role-play, and physiologic information about how the activity promotes regulation and resilience in the nervous system.

Working in pairs and small groups, participants will have an opportunity to try out some of these experiential activities, discuss how each activity is grounded in neuroscience, and consider how each activity might be integrated into their work with patients and clients.

Trauma-Informed Mindfulness: Practices for Regulation and Resilience Vamsi Koneru, Ph.D. Trauma is an event or series of events that is highly stressful, profoundly difficult to integrate and can leave us feeling overwhelmed, helpless, and profoundly unsafe. It has been said that trauma “leaves traces on our minds and emotions, our capacity for joy and intimacy, and even our biology and immune system” (van der Kolk). Individuals who have endured trauma can experience significant psychological distress marked by intrusive memories and flashbacks, tendencies to avoid reminders of their trauma, and physical hyperarousal as well as intense feelings of shame, self-blame, and guilt. Offering mindfulness practices to individuals who have experienced trauma can be a highly effective approach to support well-being and recovery. However, asking individuals to pay focused, sustained attention to their experience can be challenging and potentially dysregulating, thus, it is important to offer mindfulness meditation in a trauma-informed manner. In this workshop, we will explore the theory of trauma-informed mindfulness, engage in various individual and group practices as well as develop skills to effectively and safely support survivors of trauma.

These symptoms may include racing thoughts, physical tension, sleep disturbance, panic attacks, difficulty concentrating, nervous stomach, unexplained chest tightness, inability to relax, and persistent physiological arousal despite standard treatments such as psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and behavioral interventions. The training introduces clinically appropriate applications of yoga therapy-informed frameworks that address autonomic nervous system dysregulation and physiological stress responses associated with anxiety. Reiki 3 Hilary Rudenauer, RMT, CYT In this Level 3, or Reiki Master Practitioner training, participants will expand upon the skills they learned in previous levels and acquire new ways to work with Reiki energy. Students will learn the Reiki moving meditation, aura clearing techniques, and how to use single crystals and crystal grids for healing. In addition, participants will experience meditation to meet their highest Reiki guide, receive another attunement and be given the Usui Master symbol.

Time will be spent discussing emotional regulation within the context of a Reiki session and how therapeutic techniques can be integrated into healing work. There will be plenty of time for practice, questions, and integration. Upon completion of this course, participants will be certified Reiki Master Practitioners.

Attachment and Trauma Edwin Renaud, LCSW, Ph.D Attachment theory can inform clinical work with people suffering from traumatic stress, especially for those whose trauma is rooted in the actions of other people. Attachment dynamics play an important role in social perception and the capacity to manage intense emotions. This in turn impacts one’s ability to cope with acute and chronic stress. This presentation will review the basic concepts of attachment theory, its two most common classification schemes, and leading contemporary ideas on how attachment contributes to our capacities to interpret the social environment and regulate feelings. Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Beth Robins-Roth, APRN, SEP Medical, mental health, and social service providers and educators are increasingly teaching breath awareness and other mindfulness practices to their patients, clients, and students. It is important for professionals to understand the risks, obstacles, and pitfalls of a one-size fits all approach to mindfulness instruction and practice. Research and clinical work in mindfulness, trauma, and somatic approaches to trauma resolution have provided guidance for presenting mindfulness concepts and meditation practices to people living with unresolved trauma/ PTSD in ways that are most likely to be experienced as safe, effective, and enjoyable. This training will use lecture, discussion, experiential practices, demonstration and role-play to define mindfulness, review numerous mindfulness practices, and explore the distinguishing characteristics of trauma-sensitive mindfulness instruction and practice. Re-Imagining Justice for Sexual Harm: Trauma-Informed & Restorative Justice Approaches Marlee Liss In this powerful survivor-led training, restorative justice advocate Marlee Liss shares her lived experience navigating one of the first sexual assault cases in North America to conclude with restorative justice through the court system. Instead of pursuing a traditional criminal trial, Marlee chose a healing-centered process focused on accountability, consent, and survivor empowerment, culminating in an eight-hour restorative circle with the person who harmed her. Through storytelling, education, and reflection, participants will explore the limitations of punitive responses to sexual harm and examine restorative justice as a traumainformed alternative rooted in dignity, agency, and transformation. Jamie Arber, MA, LPC, CBIST, CCH, is the Executive Director of The Supported Living Group (SLG) and a recognized leader in brain injury rehabilitation. Since joining SLG in 2017 and becoming Executive Director in 2021, he has transformed community-based care for Acquired and Traumatic Brain Injury survivors across Connecticut. Under his leadership, SLG became the state’s top-ranked provider within three years, delivering over 15,000 hours of weekly person-centered support. Jamie has pioneered innovative vocational and arts-based rehabilitation programs and built strong partnerships with hospitals, state agencies, and advocacy organizations. A Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Brain Injury Specialist, he integrates evidence-based approaches such as EMDR and hypnosis to enhance trauma recovery.

His visionary leadership continues to redefine excellence in brain injury rehabilitation and inspire systemic change statewide.

Dr. Laura Baird is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Middletown, CT, who conducts individual psychotherapy with adults. Her primary modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. Dr. Baird has participated in Level 1 and Level 2 IFS Trainings as well as participated as a Program Assistant in Level 1 IFS Training. She has a special interest in working with the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and helping HSP’s to understand themselves better and befriend their parts.

A Biblical Adjunct Professor, award-winning community healer, and national presenter, Rev. O blends scholarly rigor with lived wisdom to disrupt stigma and cultivate resilient, emotionally well communities.

Dr. Kim Daniels is a Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in Hartford, CT. She is a Certified, Level 2 trained IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapist, an approved clinical consultant, and a Certified Intuitive Eating counselor. Dr. Daniels works with clients struggling with a variety of issues and specializes in working with women experiencing food and body concerns. Julia Evans, AM, LCSW, CADC, received her Master’s in Social Work at The University of Chicago with a specialty in addiction counseling, and is the founder and owner of Soundview Therapy Group in Guilford, CT where she provides individual therapy to clients struggling with anxiety, life transitions, perfectionism and substance use disorders. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and has provided MI training in schools; hospital settings; managed care settings; workforce development organizations; and residential behavioral health organizations. She specializes in holistic stress management which compliments her 25+ years of experience as a clinical social worker in the behavioral health field. She enjoys working with people to help them develop a mastery over their well-being utilizing empathy, empowerment and mind-body-spirit connection as cornerstones of her approach. Dr. Rachel Gilbert, Psy.D. is a licensed health psychologist with experience in integrated care and community mental health settings.

Dr. Jozlyn Hall is a mitigation specialist, educator, and program developer with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of mental health, trauma, and the criminal legal system. As founder of J. Hall, Ph.D & Associates, she conducts psychosocial and mitigation evaluations to inform sentencing, diversion, and reentry planning. She also created the Inner Change, Outer Impact program, a trauma-informed curriculum focused on emotional regulation, accountability, and personal transformation during incarceration. Vamsi Koneru, PhD, is a clinical psychologist in private practice at Koneru Psychotherapy, LLC. His work focuses on the intersection of trauma and mindfulness, and he specializes in providing compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy for adolescents, adults and families. He is a certified mindfulness teacher with the Engaged Mindfulness Institute, an institute dedicated to supporting individuals in at-risk situations and communities that have been marginalized and underserved.

Marlee Liss is a somatic educator, author, and RSW known for her advocacy in trauma healing and justice reform. Her sexual assault case set a North American legal precedent through a Restorative Justice outcome, leading her to found the global coalition Survivors 4 Justice Reform. She has supported thousands in healing trauma and promoting empathetic leadership, with her work featured in major media outlets and conferences. Marlee’s story is highlighted in the documentary *The Limits of Forgiveness*, and her upcoming book on reimagining justice will be published by Penguin Random House in Spring 2027.

Sara Merrick-Albano C-IAYT, is a yoga therapist who specializes in using yoga to address physical and mental health conditions, including complex trauma, PTSD, and chronic pain. Her approach is tailored to each individual client and draws from traditional yoga practices infused with insights from contemporary neuroscience. Sara is a co-founder of Yoga Therapy Associates, a Connecticut-based yoga therapy private practice that provides yoga therapy for individuals, as well as offers specialized training for mental health clinicians to integrate yoga therapy techniques into talk therapy. Yoga Therapy Associates partners with mental health practices nationwide to provide integrative and holistic mental health care.

Amy B. Otzel, LPC, LMHC, is a retired U.S. Army Behavioral Health Sergeant and Iraq War Veteran who continues the mission in service to military members, Veterans, and their families as a licensed psychotherapist, educator, and advocate. With experience in the Department of Veterans Affairs, community-based care, and private practice, she brings a grounded, strengths-based perspective to understanding military culture and human responses to stress and trauma. As a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coachand Certified Personal Trainer, Roxanne combines evidence-informed movement, nutrition, stress management, and self-care strategies into highly interactive trainings that participants can immediately apply in daily life. Beth Robins Roth, APRN, SEP, is a bilingual Family Nurse Practitioner and Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. In 1993, she founded the MindfulnessBased Stress Reduction Program at the Community Health Center of Meriden, teaching meditation in English and Spanish for 21 years. In 2016, she launched Hummingbird Trauma Resolution, specializing in mindbody approaches to trauma, PTSD, chronic pain, and stress. Shalyn Rose is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with expertise in behavioral health, specializing in clinical documentation, compliance, and quality care. She focuses on helping clinicians create clear, effective documentation that reflects client progress and supports medical necessity. Shalyn emphasizes balancing clinical integrity with efficiency to keep documentation meaningful and manageable. She also supports teams in improving workflows, collaboration, and overall standards of care.

Hilary Rudenauer is a Reiki Master Teacher Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in training, 500-Hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Certified Postpartum Doula, and owner of Resonance Healing Arts. She has worked at the intersection of mental health and holistic healing for over a decade, highlighting alternative pathways to recovery and inspiring curiosity around our understanding of human suffering. Hilary combines her lived experience as a trauma-survivor with her professional training and expertise to inform and enrich her sessions, classes, and trainings.

Christine Saari (C-IAYT), is a yoga therapist and co-founder of Yoga Therapy Associates. Navigating her own path through anxiety and trauma has instilled in Christine a deep-seated passion for helping others find their way. Christine specializes in aiding those with anxiety and trauma, emphasizing practices that are both empowering and approachable. Her strength lies in her ability to listen and adapt, individualizing yoga therapy to resonate with each person’s unique needs and preferences. Dr. Peter Tolisano is a board-certified clinical psychologist. He has been the statewide Director of Psychological Services, Office of the Commissioner, for the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, since 2013. His various responsibilities include overseeing the mental health and behavioral needs of individuals served by his agency.

He interfaces with national entities and other state agencies (i.e., DCF, DMHAS, SDE, DSS, and OCA) in his consultations, which often relate to positive behavioral supports. Dr. Tolisano also maintains a private practice in the Greater Hartford area that focuses on the provision of psychodynamic psychotherapy and EMDR for trauma recovery.

Nora Toomey is a clinical herbalist, educator, and poet. She has an MFA in poetry from California College of the Arts, and a Clinical Herbalist Certification from the Berkeley Herbal Center. In 2020, Nora co-founded the plant and sound wellness company, Flower & Frequency while developing her private practice and herbal product line, True Bloom. She has enjoyed volunteering with the People’s Medicine Project, working at the Berkeley Herbal Center’s Community Clinic, writing for the Herbal Academy, and developing herbal programming for public libraries and senior centers across New England.

Between 5 and 7 business days after the training (this may be longer for offsite events and conferences), you will receive an email with instructions to access the online survey and certificate. What are your attendance policies?

By accreditation standards, continuing education credits (CECs) are only given to those individuals who have completed the entire training; partial credit cannot be given. If you arrive more than 30 minutes after the start of the event or leave early for any reason you will not receive CECs. For on-site events, you must sign-in/out on the designated attendance sheets provided by staff. If you are not sure where the attendance sheets are, please ask a staff member for assistance. For virtual events, you must log into Zoom with your first and last name, matching your Consortium account. Zoom automatically tracks your attendance, including any breakout sessions. Please note that participation in breakout sessions is an important part of the training experience and counts towards your total attendance for all virtual trainings.

If you miss more than one breakout session, The Consortium staff members will provide you with a written and verbal warning. If you do not join the breakout session or contact The Consortium staff as directed in the written and verbal outreach, you will be removed from the training. Please note that our attendance policies are based on state statute and requirements from our accrediting body.

EMERGENCIES & CANCELLATIONS If you cannot attend a workshop As of January 1st, 2020, The Connecticut Women’s Consortium will no longer offer credit on account for training cancellations. You must cancel your registration a minimum of 2 business days before the training start date in order to receive a refund minus a 25% administration fee. Social Workers, Therapists, Counselors, and Psychologists National Association of Social Workers Connecticut Chapter (CECs) are accepted in the states of MA, RI, and VT. Check with your state board to see if they offer reciprocity. These credits are applicable to Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), and Licensed Clinical Psychologists.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors Connecticut Certification Board CECs are applicable to Licensed Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors (LADC) & Certified Addiction Counselors (CAC).The Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) & National International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) are covered under CCB-CT Credits.
