Overview What is CS Ed Week? Computer Science Education Week is a yearly event during the first full week of December to inspire K12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners to the field.
This year, the CSEdWeek theme (CSEverywhere) highlights the impact that computer science is making everywhere and the relationship that computer science has to different subjects, industries, career paths, and our everyday lives. In 2013, Code.org introduced The Hour of Code, which expanded CSEdWeek to reach tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.
For more information on the national initiative please visit 2 www.csedweek.org
Overview Why CS Ed Week? During the week of December 6th, we would like you to plan an activity for your students and/or the school community. WHY? It’s FUN, and it sparks student interest! Fosters students’ critical thinking and problemsolving skills. Now more than ever students need computer science! Why Host a CSEdWeek Event? IT IS FUN! Hosting an event can spark student interest in computer science, demonstrate how engaging the content can be, and help schools determine how to make computer science a part of students’ education.
