On many occasions, I have marveled at the beauty of our campus and the vibrant spirit of our Warrior community, but this fall felt particularly special.

Despite countless challenges and everchanging circumstances, on Oct. 1, Stan State experienced a most welcome occasion: the official repopulation of our campus.

Students — along with many faculty and staff members — had been eager to return to in-person classes and campus life and were able to do so safely. This would not have been possible without the determined planning, sleepless nights and perseverance of many individuals across our campus community who worked painstakingly to help safeguard us all. My gratitude runs deep for everyone’s resolve and patience, and I am deeply proud of our Warrior Spirit!

The pandemic may have changed how we interact with each other, but it did not affect who we are as a campus community.

We learned a lot during the past 20 months, and in many ways, we have grown from these lessons and experiences. We have identified our strengths, overcome difficulties and found innovative ways to stay laser focused on our mission: to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students. We will use the lessons learned during this time to rethink, refashion and improve what we do and chart a new way of being at Stan State.

I truly believe that we are on the cusp of a metamorphosis. We are emerging from a somber period in our collective history and moving into a new existence in terms of how we navigate our daily lives. I am optimistic that our collaborative spirit, passion and pursuit of understanding and learning will continue to define and unite us. May we carry that joyfulness into 2022.

Warmly,

Ellen
