Visionaries | With Gratitude: A Special Thank You to Our University Supporters

Dear Friends and Supporters of CSUMB,

As we move our annual report to publication, our team is working remotely. Homebound by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are all establishing our new normals. Looking back this past year we began with the celebration of our 25th anniversary and through the academic year, up until mid March, we continued to celebrate with community and campus events. We will be ending the academic year on a more somber note with the annual May Commencment postponed and the accompanying public celebrations and recognition of our students accomplishments sidelined by the global pandemic.

Yet this magazine carries stories of hope, vision and trust in our campus community that helps unite us going forward. These are stories of individuals and their own vision and belief in California State University, Monterey Bay reaching back to our founding.

Bertie Bialek Elliott, Julie Packard and Robert Darwin are philanthropists that place their confidence and trust in our university as a center of learning, transformation and innovation to allow us to change the trajectory of our students, faculty, campus buildings and programs with incredible gifts of generosity. We are extremely grateful to all of our donors and friends who have supported CSUMB this past year with your pledges, current use gifts and legacy gift commitments. These gifts allow our campus community to reach beyond the state budget toward opportunities that otherwise would not have been achieved.

Thank you all for your confidence in us, and together we will continue this success into our next 25 years!

All the best,

Barbara Zappas

Vice President of University Advancement Chief Executive Officer, Foundation of CSUMB
