The best college education is an active one. You’ll learn most where classroom content is energized by lively discussions and debates and then enhanced by hands-on, professional learning opportunities outside the classroom.
At CSU, our professors are more than just classroom teachers. With workplace expertise and a passion for student success, they serve as mentors for students. Learning happens inside the classroom and in real-world settings, too.
Charleston Southern’s Experiential Learning Requirement gives every student the opportunity to participate in an internship, service learning project, or applied learning course prior to graduation. This leads to higher job placement rates, better understanding of course materials, and the development of professional skills for the postgraduate environment.
INTERNSHIPS
Test the waters in your field while building new skills, professional contacts, and your resume.
Apply course content to community-based activities to enrich learning and to serve others.
Collaborate with your professors in highlevel research and present your findings at professional conferences.
EXPERIENCES
Study and serve in another country where you’ll gain global understanding along with confidence in navigating a new environment.
Location is a big part of your college experience. You’ll want to be in a place with plenty of options for entertainment and recreation, plus, opportunities for learning outside the classroom—such as internships and part-time jobs.
Regularly named the No. 1 City in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure magazine, Charleston is a great city in which to attend college.
