WHAT IS OPERATIONS SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT?

the MAJOR

OPERATIONS SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (OSM):

Includes a broad area that covers both manufacturing and service industries, involving the functions of sourcing, materials management, operations planning, distribution, logistics, retail, demand forecasting, order fulfillment and more.

FOR STUDENTS WHO WANT TO SPECIALIZE THERE ARE FOUR POSSIBLE TRACKS: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT / GLOBAL OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT / PROJECT MANAGEMENT / BUSINESS ANALYTICS

The OSM major is designed to provide a strong foundation in all aspects of operations management and supply chain management as well as exposure to the analytical tools used in the field.

SPECIALIZATION TRACKS:

Supply Chain Management: provides an in-depth understanding of activities involved in a supply chain system. This track is ideal for students who are interested in working for logistics manufacturing or service companies with supply chain management functions.

Global Operations Management: prepares students to manage many different aspects of global operations in both service organizations and manufacturing firms.

Why OSM?

Project Management: provides the background in project management and scheduling that will be necessary for students who want to become project managers or project leaders.

Business Analytics: provides a strong background in data analysis, statistics and analytical tools that an analyst needs in many organizations. Students in this track will gain proficiency in SAS, SPSS, Minitab and Excel.

Businesses competing in the global marketplace require competence and expertise in the areas of operations and supply chain management to be successful and sustainable. The field is rapidly growing with improvement in technology leading to an expansion in new career opportunities. A Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Operations And Supply Chain Management (OSM) prepares you for a successful career in business by providing you with insight into the two critical components of organizational success: strategy and tactics.

Alexandra is the Rotary Club of Cleveland’s Excellence in Operations & Supply Chain Management honoree for 2023.

During her time in college she has held many jobs, but most notable were the two internships she completed. The first was at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in their corporate procurement department. During the internship, she led two different projects while simultaneously supporting members of her team. Her second internship was at the J.M. Smucker Company at the plant in Orrville, Ohio. There, she was an active member of their logistics department and was in charge of five projects.
