In 2014, I hiked and rafted 40 miles along the Rogue River, one of the first Wild and Scenic Rivers designated in 1968, Between the rocks and thrashing rapids, are places of pure serenity. The Rogue’s indigenous people fought hard for this landscape in the Rogue River War of 1855-56.. Decades later, Zane Grey later sought refuge, building a cabin on its shores. This piece for brass trio reflects the experiences along the trail. Put this place on your bucket list!
