Small plastic with a big impact

By SSgt Alexandra Longfellow | 21ST SPACE WING PUBLIC AFFAIRS PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — With the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, help is always needed. For one Airman, he chose to use his skills to help the medical community, locally and nationally.

For the last three weeks, Ryan Taft, 21st Contracting Squadron COVID-19 response team member, and his neighbor, Chris Myers, have been producing and donating a piece of plastic that will help ease the tension of surgical masks medical professionals wear for over 12 hours a day.

“I have family members in the medical field,” Taft said. “They expressed how mentally distracting prolonged mask wear can be due to behind-the-ear chaffing, I realized then that this was as a small part I could help with.”

Lt. Col. Scott Schofield, 21 CONS commanders, says Ryan [Taft] is always looking for ways to help people and make things better.

“So, it’s no surprise that he’s been working hard to help our community and improve the lives of healthcare workers serving on the front lines in our local hospitals,” Schofield said.

Taft and Myers found the approved National Institutes of Health clip-strap pattern online to be used with a 3D printer they already had. A second 3D printer was then purchased to double their production.

Social media has been a turning point in their success. Hospitals in Denver, Colorado have contacted them wanting hundreds of these for their employees.

Their audience is reaching globally with individuals from New Zealand and France on their social media site.

“The hard part of all this was finding the printing plastic,” Taft said. “With the pandemic happening, many stores have limited amount of supplies or their shipping times are longer than normal.”

That didn’t stop Taft to find a solution.

He was able to find five rolls of plastic on social media for sale, with each roll producing about 500 straps. The neighbors can now print about 120 a day with each strap costing about $0.10.

“Seeing people outside of my realm impacted by something so small is humbling,” Taft said. “We are all in this together. It doesn’t matter age, race, gender, nationality, rich or poor. We need to work together.”

Taft has been working at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado since July 2019 and this has been the first time working with the Department of Defense.

“I have never experienced such a level of care than I have working with the Air Force,” Taft said. “I have never been called on a Sunday to ask how I am doing and what I need or want. The level of care we

Taft says he hopes mankind can come away from all this with the same caring and consideration that his leadership has given him during this situation.

“His actions are a great example of ‘service

before self’ and we are very proud to have him on our team,” Schofield said.

Undergraduate Space Training evolves to tackle space threats

Tyler Whiting | UNITED STATES SPACE FORCE PUBLIC AFFAIRS PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — The training of new military space operators is evolving to meet the challenges in the space domain. A revamped initial skills training course now gives new space warfighters an early advantage in being ready to meet the unique demands of operating satellites and other space systems in a contested, degraded and operationally limited space domain.

For more than 60 years, U.S. space systems were operated in a largely uncontested environment. Because potential adversaries have introduced man-made threats in, and extending to, an already complex and dynamic environment, United States Space Force partnered with Air Education and Training Command to overhaul Undergraduate Space Training.

In October 2019, “Undergraduate Space Training NEXT” began incorporating Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information in its curriculum at the direction of Gen. Jay Raymond, Chief of Space Operations, U.S. Space Force, and Commander, U.S. Space Command.

“The addition of classified content to UST allows us to train everything in a warfighting context starting with the threat,” said Brig. Gen. DeAnna M. Burt, Director of Operations and Communications, U.S. Space Force. “Some of the concepts can seem pretty abstract, but when students see it applied to a real world scenario, suddenly it sticks. The challenge was to pull together experts from across the community whose experience covered the full range of UST curriculum.”

The revised UST NEXT curriculum now focuses on three core objectives: instilling warfighting context and culture, enhancing foundational rigor, and fostering student engagement and ownership. Previously 76 training days each, the enlisted and officer courses have been expanded to 87 and 110 days, respectively.

“The old UST course worked very well in the environment for which it was developed. But the environment has changed,” said Col. Michael C. Todd, Chief of Training Weapons and Tactics Division, U.S. Space Force. “We no longer operate in a benign domain. People recognize the value that our space systems bring to the joint fight, and that includes adversaries also being aware. Our training needed to change to better prepare space warfighters to operate, innovate and dominate in a contested domain.”

“This new UST course is all about warfighting,” continued Todd. “Students are immersed in hands-on scenarios that begin to cultivate the knowledge and skills they need to combat a thinking and determined adversary. Graduates will arrive at their operations units better prepared to master their weapon systems and dive into the fight. This is what we need for today’s contested space environment.”

Curriculum development was led by the 533rd Training Squadron in coordination with the USSF Training, Weapons & Tactics Division. The year-long undertaking was supported by 154 subject matter experts from

USSF, AETC, Air Combat Command, Air Force Reserve Command, National Reconnaissance Office, and the United States Air Force Academy, who collectively put in more than 10,000 hours.

“We were overwhelmed by the positive response, not only from all the space command units but also outside organizations,” added Burt. “This was definitely a team effort.”

The first officer graduation of the new UST NEXT course occurred on March 26, 2020 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. The first enlisted graduation was held March 13, 2020, also at Vandenberg AFB. Prospective space warfighters report to Vandenberg immediately after completing Basic Military Training or leaving their commissioning source. Both officer and enlisted UST courses provide an introduction to space history, law, policy, orbital mechanics, electromagnetic waves and signals, space environment, space systems, command authorities, and joint space warfighting.

During UST, students are matched to their initial assignments as well as the Space Warfighting Disciplines in which they will specialize: Orbital Warfare, Space Electronic Warfare, Space Battle Management, or Space Access and Sustainment. Following UST, graduates will attend a Space Warfighter follow-on course in Colorado Springs, Colo., for more in-depth training in their area of specialization.

AFIMSC swift action enables Air, Space Force to meet COVID-19 challenges

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas — The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center is leading the effort to keep installations mission ready as the Air and Space Force continue operations while contending with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have 77 installations, eight major commands, two direct reporting units, headquarters of the Air Force and Space Force, including personnel in the Pacific, Europe and Middle East conducting missions who rely on us every day,” said AFIMSC Commander Maj. Gen. Tom Wilcox. “We have to keep the mission going.”

Wilcox said AFIMSC’s response to COVID-19 was swift and necessary to keep the Air and Space Force lethal and ready. The center continues to provide all infrastructure and base support, such as security forces, resourcing, child care and MWR programs, oversight of facility, sustainment and modernization, MILCON projects, and contracting tools.

“We're still performing our mission 100 percent,” he said. “Our mission hasn't stopped or been reduced at all. I would say, in fact, the mission has increased. We’ve had to respond to this in a different way, and our Airmen have to come up with innovative and creative ways to ensure the mission goes on.”

As the Department of Defense rolled out its response to COVID-19, AFIMSC energized its primary subordinate units and detachments to support commanders and installations across the Air and Space Force with guidance, funding solutions and expertise to resolve issues.

For example, the AFIMSC budgeting team that manages the $7 billion installation and mission support portfolio worked a nearly $2 billion funding request for COVID-19-related costs and potential infrastructure stimulus support, said Lt. Col. Laurie Lanpher of the Resources Directorate.

“The first part of the request covered costs associated with installations’ COVID-19 response and the other part asked for a list of unfunded requirements, that if funded, could help stimulate the economy,” she said. “The infrastructure of our installations is important to maintain readiness no matter what challenges we face.

That infrastructure is also a good investment for the American taxpayer.”

The day-to-day mission in AFIMSC’s Financial Operations Division remains largely unchanged; however, the volume and scope has increased tremendously, according to Kurt Schmidbauer, financial operations supervisor. The division coordinates, interprets and distributes travel, military and civilian pay, and banking and disbursing guidance on behalf of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller.

“Our team is working nearly 24 hours a day to ensure guidance is validated and released to the field as quickly as possible,” Schmidbauer said.

The civilian pay team also provides support to civilian pay operations for installations that have closed or reduce operations. Team members coordinated with the Air Force Accounting and

Finance Office on a policy to open current plus two future weeks of time periods in the Automated Time Attendance and Production System, or ATAAPS. The modified policy gives commanders and civilian employees flexibility to ensure payments without delay.

The Air Force Installation Contracting Center, one of AFIMSC’s primary subordinate units, immediately engaged all commands to ensure they had the latest operational acquisition and contracting guidance.

“We made it possible for contracting officers to have emergency acquisition authorities at their disposal to meet mission needs, while also taking measures to protect our workforce,” said AFICC Commander Brig. Gen. Alice Trevino. “These special authorities include, but are not limited to, increases in the micro-purchase and simplified acquisition thresholds, exceptions to full and open competition due to unusual and compelling urgency, and exceptions to administrative requirements.”

Trevino added that contracting officers now have the authority to maximize telework and adjust payments for contractors. For example, the AFIMSC Installation Support Directorate responded by providing commanders the flexibility to modify custodial contracts to fight the spread of COVID-19.

“It was apparent that the current frequency of cleaning in a portion of facilities may not be sufficient to effectively minimize the possibility of transmitting the virus,” said Lt. Col. Jon Jones, facility operations deputy branch chief. “The ma-

jority of installation facilities on Air Force bases are cleaned at a frequency of two or three times a week. We addressed this gap by offering leadership, on a temporary basis, the latitude to decide if increased custodial cleaning frequencies are needed in their facilities.”

Installation Support Directorate leadership also began using the Defense Collaboration Services platform to conduct COVID-19 teleconferences with mission support group leaders across the force. The four sessions to date provided current installation and mission support portfolio information with experts on hand to answer questions, discuss solutions and offer AFIMSC support.

“AFIMSC is standing by to answer questions, and we’re ready to provide assistance to installations," said Col. Seth Frank, deputy director of the Installation Support Directorate. "We recommend bases work through their respective AFIMSC detachments with any requests or questions. That will ensure AFIMSC leadership is aware of the challenges facing bases and can provide the right amount of resources and tools to best support and resolve issues.”

Across the AFIMSC enterprise, the team is modifying, adapting and ensuring installations have everything they need to keep the Air and Space Force mission ready.

“We are figuring out how to do this,” Wilcox said. “AFIMSC Airmen are staying ahead of installation needs and successfully navigating around the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

By U.S. Space Command Public Affairs PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — U.S. Space Command is aware and tracking Russia’s direct-ascent anti-satellite (DA-ASAT) missile test April 15.

“Russia’s DA-ASAT test provides yet another example that the threats to U.S. and allied space systems are real, serious and growing,” said Gen. John W. “Jay” Raymond, USSPACECOM commander and U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations. “The United States is ready and committed to deterring aggression and defending the Nation, our allies and U.S. interests from hostile acts in space.”

Russia’s missile system is capable of destroying satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and comes on the heels of Russia’s on-orbit testing the U.S. highlighted in February, namely COSMOS 2542 and COSMOS 2543. These satellites, which behaved similar to previous Russian satellites that exhibited characteristics of a space weapon, conducted maneuvers near a U.S. Government satellite that would be interpreted as ir-

responsible and potentially threatening in any other domain.

“This test is further proof of Russia’s hypocritical advocacy of outer space arms control proposals designed to restrict the capabilities of the United States while clearly having no intention of halting their counterspace weapons programs,” Raymond said. “Space is critical to all nations and our way of life. The demands on space systems continue in this time of crisis where global logistics, transportation and communication are key to defeating the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is a shared interest and responsibility of all spacefaring nations to create safe, stable and operationally sustainable conditions for space activities, including commercial, civil and national security activities,” Raymond concluded.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AFNS) — Eighty-six graduates from the United States Air Force Academy celebrated receiving their diplomas April 18 and moved directly into the U.S. Space Force, marking the first infusion of commissioned personnel into the new service since its creation last year.

Vice President Mike Pence was in attendance at the event and congratulated the entire graduating class.

“Two years ago, President Trump laid out a bold vision for American leadership in space,” said Pence. “Last December, the president made that vision a reality when he put his signature on a historic law that created the six branch of our armed forces, the United States Space Force.

I am proud to stand here today as 86 members of the Air Force Academy’s class of 2020 will commission as the first company grade officers of the Space Force.”

Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett commented on the vital role these new officers will play in defense of the nation and in the newest branch of the U.S. military.

“As our nation’s first Space Force lieutenants, these leaders will defend democracy and protect the ultimate high ground of space,” said Barrett. “As they depart the Academy today, they will join the ranks of air and space power pioneers. They will be instrumental in building a lean, agile and forward-looking Space Force defending our nation, our allies and our American interests in space.”

While approximately 16,000 military and civilians from the former Air Force Space Command are now assigned to the Space Force, the arrival of these newest officers signals that the new service is taking a significant step toward filling its ranks.

The Space Force leadership team Gen. Jay Raymond, chief of space operations, and Chief Master Sgt. Roger Towberman, senior enlisted advisor, welcomed the new space professionals with excitement.

“The class of 2020 will go down in history as the very first class to commission officers directly into the U.S. Space Force,” said Raymond. “I couldn’t be more excited for you and for us. Although we have 16,000 Active Duty Airmen and civilians assigned to the Space Force officially on the Space Force scrolls, you are numbers 3 through 88.”

“You are our future, and I need you to be bold as you will build this service from the ground up,” said Raymond as he specifically addressed the new lieutenants. “You will help define our warfighting culture, build the Space Force as the first digital service, and lay the foundation of a service that is innovative and can go fast in order to stay ahead of a significant and growing threat,” he added.

The 86 newest members of the Space Force will fill a variety of roles, the majority of whom are assigned to the space operations career field and will be moving to Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, to begin undergraduate space training. The remaining members are assigned to a variety of career fields, such as cyberspace operations, intelligence, developmental engineer and acquisitions manager, and will go to their respective initial skills training locations across the country. Upon completion of training, all 86 will be assigned to a Space Force unit.

"For me, commissioning into the Space Force is going to be an amazing opportunity to not only help establish a new branch of the military, but also to learn about and fight in arguably the most important war fighting domain,” said Cadet First Class Justin Bishop, prior to the ceremony today. “When I enlisted in the Air Force seven years ago, commissioning as an officer or having a career in Space Ops were not options I envisioned for myself, but now I’m doing just that. I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity and the experiences that are going to come from being an officer in the Space Force."

Bishop is a prior enlisted aircrew flight equipment journeyman who first attended the USAFA preparatory school and then the academy through the leaders encouraging airman development commissioning program. As a new space operations officer, he will head to VAFB for training when approved to travel amidst the COVID-19 restrictions.

Created by an act of Congress, the Space Force came into existence Dec. 20, 2019, with a mandate to organize, train and equip a force that protects U.S. and allied interests in space. It must also be able to provide space capabilities to the joint force through the combatant commands.

Over the next 18 months it will define its organizational structure and move personnel into the service through military transfers and accessions, and civilian new hires and assignments. As military transfers are complete, there will be roughly 6,500 military personnel in the Space Force while approximately 3,500 civilians will remain Department of Air Force civilians assigned to the new service. In addition, there will be around 6,000 Air Force personnel, military and civilian, assigned to the Space Force to provide the base operational support functions such as medical, logistics, personnel, finance, and security forces.

The next step in personnel planning begins May 1, when currently serving active-duty Airmen eligible to transfer to the Space Force will be able to volunteer to do so, with transfers expected to begin around Sept. 1.

Air Force expedites N95 mask production contract awards

By Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) -- The Department of the Air Force rapidly executed three contract awards worth $133 million with 3M, Honeywell and O&M Halyard to increase domestic N95 production dedicating long-term mask capacity for national demand. These are the first Department of Defense funded awards utilizing Defense Production Act Title 3 authorities in response to COVID-19.

The Department’s Air Force Research Lab DPA Title 3 Executive Program Office, in coordination with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Office for Industrial Policy and Department of the Air Force’s Acquisition COVID-19 Task Force, or DAF-ACT, finalized contracts within five days of White House Task Force approval. 3M received $76 million, O&M Halyard received $29 million and Honeywell received $27.4 million for facility and machinery conversion to boost industrial capability and collectively produce 39 million masks in the next 90 days.

“As the Department of Defense’s Executive Agent for the Defense Production Act, increasing N95 production is priority one,”

said Dr. Will Roper, the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. “This week’s award of $133 million to 3M, Honeywell and O&M Halyard will add around 13 million N95 masks per month to our nation’s supply in the near term. I sincerely thank our program team and each company for closing on this critical deal quickly.”

Collectively, this quick-turn effort is postured to accelerate N95 mask delivery to 141 million in the next six months and increase the total production to 450 million per year.

This kind of rapid acquisition and scaling is possible because of previous acquisition delegation of authority and contracting revamp to match the speed of relevance.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our team — especially the Air Force Research Laboratory contracting officers — who used their expertise to rapidly coordinate and secure these contracts. This is just one example of many critical acquisition efforts that the DAF-ACT is proud to support as part of a whole-of-government response,” said Maj. Gen. Cameron Holt, DAF-ACT director.

The APPTRAC application process requires commanders, supervisors and athletes to create an account to be able to complete submission and approval.

By Zach Huebschman and Kelley Schlitt | U.S. AIR FORCE INTERNATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALISTS FALLS CHURCH, Va. — International Health Specialists from 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) are piloting a new global health engagement model to improve health and readiness for U.S. military forces and partner nations.

Under the Embedded Health Engagement Team model, U.S. medical forces embed in partner nation medical facilities. These teams are made up of small groups of U.S. military medical personnel who work beside partner nation counterparts for extended periods of time. These teams have a low cost, small footprint, and high return on investment, especially for readiness of U.S. military medical staff.

Embedded Health Engagement Teams are different from traditional global health engagement models. Traditional models are often large, one-time events such as humanitarian assistance missions.

Instead, Embedded Health Engagement Teams operate within the host nation medical system over a longer period of time, providing more mutual benefit.

“These engagements can contribute to the host nation’s health system plans and goals while also providing more realistic experience for U.S. military personnel to be trained and ready to operate within foreign environments,” said Col. Edwin Burkett, Defense Institute for Medical Operations director. International Health Specialists.

“The goal is to use many small, synchronized health engagement teams embedded in targeted locations.”

Embedded Health Engagement Teams are multidisciplinary with a mix of medical specializations tailored to meet targeted strategic objectives of both nations. Team members also have geopolitical and cultural competency. This enables teams to better develop trust, foster knowledge exchange, and establish stronger interoperability with their partner nation counterparts.

“This new blueprint could enhance global health engagements as an agile and strategic tool that combatant commanders can leverage to achieve security cooperation goals,” said Burkett.

"We designed the project to obtain quantitative and qualitative measurable data that we could validate and then refine the embedded team concept,” Burkett explained. "We want to document the utility of Embedded Health Engagement Teams to prove their value for full implementation as a premier operational capability.”

Lt. Col. Brian Neese, a student at The Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource at the National Defense University, who worked alongside Burkett in piloting the Embedded Heath Engagement Team concept, sees immense potential with this program.

"We want to see this training platform applied by International Health Specialist teams around the world, enabling training and security cooperation gains that make demonstrable, sustainable impacts in our partner nations.” Neese said.

Update: Medical patients, pharmacy customers at AF Academy asked to arrive with cloth face coverings

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Graduation may have come and gone at the Air Force Academy but safety precautions set in place during the COVID-19 outbreak remain in place today, including wearing cloth face coverings in public on base.

This includes medical patients and pharmacy customers at the 10th Medical group clinic, as masks are required there too.

“Masks are required and you can’t get into the clinic without one,” said Col. Ramon Yambo-Arias, the Academy’s chief of Aerospace Medicine and the installation’s public health emergency officer. “We ask our patients to arrive at their medical appointments wearing a cloth face covering.”

Earlier this month, Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria ordered everyone on base to wear face masks or cloth face coverings in public, and this includes the popular medical clinic and pharmacy. He made this order on the heels of an April 5 decree from Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, who instructed everyone on a federal installation to wear cloth face coverings in public and at work when they can’t keep their social distance.

Esper’s order applies to service members, civilian employees, family members and Defense Department contractors, but not at a service member’s home if they live on base.

“Effective immediately, to the extent practical, all individuals on DoD property, installations, and facilities will wear cloth face coverings when they cannot maintain six feet of social distance in public areas or work areas,” reads Esper’s April 5 memo.

During the commute to the Academy, base police at the South Gate will require drivers and in some cases, passengers, to lower their face coverings for proper identification.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.

“The Department of Defense is committed to taking every precaution to ensure the health and wellbeing of our service members, DoD civilian employees, families, and the nation,” Esper said in the memo.

In an early April press briefing, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis asked everyone in the state to wear face coverings when they leave their homes.

By Pacific Air Forces Public Affairs JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (AFNS) — In lieu of the normal in-person attendance, commanders, command chiefs and directors from across Pacific Air Forces connected virtually for the spring commander’s conference, including a China Symposium, operational plan tabletop exercise and resiliency discussion April 13 – 15.

“While the ongoing pandemic has certainly presented challenges to our ability for physical attendance, it was my determination that the information, discussion and collaboration from both our China Symposium and our semiannual conference, were too important to say it was too hard to execute,” said Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., Pacific Air Forces commander.

As with every conference, Brown’s vision for the event focused on enhancing leadership awareness, challenging our thinking, and driving collaboration and discussion across leadership at all levels.

“All of this is designed to make us think, increase our dialogue and make us better, to include how we might all change our perspective and understanding in a post-COVID world,” he said. “We should take full advantage of the things we’re doing differently now to think differently about how we approach the future.”

The China Symposium portion of the conference brought together experts from academia, think tanks and within the U.S. military to discuss opportunities to bolster understanding, identify ways to support and enable the Joint Force, allies and partners, and collaborate on ways to ensure the command is postured to compete, deter and win.

“This event really helped us gain a better understanding of where we are, where we need to be and where we need to go,” Brown said. “We are committed to our role in promoting long-term peace and prosperity and need to think about how each of us can address actions that threaten or undermine the rules-based international order.”

Discussion included the abundance of disinformation regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the importance of our strong network of allies and partners to counter regional threats.

“We can’t overemphasize the need for transparency, cooperation and trust, not only with our allies and partners, but especially with our Airmen and families,” Brown said.

Transitioning to the broader conference discussion, Brown addressed a number of areas where the command has made progress since the fall gathering, to include an overhaul of Designed Operational Capability, or DOC, statements that define unit wartime capability, a command-wide review of exercise priorities, the Air Force-wide adoption of the Agile Combat Employment concept of operations, and an enhanced focus on initiatives to develop and ensure the resiliency of the force.

The timing also offered the opportunity to discuss how adaptations to preserve readiness and resiliency through COVID-19 should drive us in shaping a “new normal” across PACAF. “We have to be ready to lead in the changes ahead, to include capturing what we’re doing right, where can we improve, and what can be eliminated or needs to be added,”

he said. “And most importantly, how do we stay socially connected?”

A week prior, Brown and Chief Master Sgt. Anthony Johnson, PACAF command chief, released a video focused on just that, the importance of prioritizing social connection despite the physical distancing and travel restrictions in place to ensure health and safety of our Airmen and families.

For many units, their efforts since the fall CSAF-directed Resiliency Tactical Pause have paid dividends in today’s physically-distanced environment, to include the involvement of family and community members. That connection has expanded beyond the local area to many commanders and chiefs intentionally timing their virtual engagements to directly connect with family members around the globe.

“We’re inspired by the initiatives we’re seeing across the command and grateful for the opportunity to share ideas and best practices, and to identify where we need to leverage more resources,” Johnson said.

All in attendance applauded the work across the command from the medical community, chaplains, mental health providers, family life counselors and child care workers. A number of chiefs also highlighted Airmen-led initiatives that have taken hold, from dorm councils developing creative fitness solutions, to using social media to share talents, provide professional development and organize virtual events.

“Our mission hasn’t slowed and the need to care for one another hasn’t changed. They’ve evolved and will continue to evolve going forward,” Brown said. “We’re all in this together.”

The Air Force’s ERP provides for the environmental cleanup of contamination whose release is attributable to the Air Force, including immediate actions taken to remove imminent threats to human health and the environment. Public involvement is a key aspect of the ERP and is the reason for this notice.
