The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a seismic shift in the way the world interacts, especially when it comes to education.

Following shutdowns in March, educators scrambled to develop methods to remotely teach students. Teachers managed to provide classwork while administrators created graduations on the fly. Some students even thrived.

“By the time spring break came, we had 100 percent of the Class [of 2020] accepted to college or on a post-secondary plan,” said Christine Braun, Sierra High School lead counselor. “...We had no idea what COVID would become. It became about finalizing [student] plans and getting them signed up.”

While seniors completed their post-graduation to-do lists, Braun said that was just a portion of the process.

To curb discouragement caused by COVID-19 and “senioritis,” Braun said Harrison School District 2 began a mentorship program in May to help keep upperclassmen and soon-to-be college freshmen on track.

“In the past, we’ve seen so many kids who

have this dream school, but come back to visit the next semester and they’re like, ‘Yeah, that didn’t happen,’” Braun said. “We’re looking at any obstacles [students] will face that could stop them from reaching their goal after they graduate and figuring out what we can do.”

tion to claim a Chromebook — and that’s for all incoming freshmen and transfer students,” Verner said. “Whether we’re remote or not, every student will have a Chromebook to do all the things they do at school. That’s something that’s unique that we’re launching this fall and we’re excited to do that. “…With the Chromebooks, they’re not charged more for that. We’re doing our best to keep costs under control, not only for coronavirus, but college in general.”

There were also concerns involving SAT and ACT college admission tests. The pandemic prevented seniors from retaking the tests, as well as those who are going into their senior year.

Braun said many students enter high school believing the ACT and SAT scores “make or break” their chances of college acceptance. Braun said that isn’t the case.

“It does have an impact, but there are other paths to get to a college or your postsecondary school option if you don’t get the scores you want,” she said. “We have to do more educating and highlight other options.

It’s not make-or-break based on this test.”

Verner echoed those sentiments.

of the application process, they aren’t the application process,” Verner said.

“If you have a high [grade-point average] but don’t test well, it won’t sink your chances to get in, and vice versa. You can have an awesome SAT or ACT, but if you don’t have the grades, it’s not the end. [The SAT and ACT] are part of the application process — they’re not the end-all, be-all.”

Some colleges in Colorado removed the requirement for the exams. In August 2019, Colorado College moved to a testoptional admission policy for the SAT and ACT. The policy begins this fall with firstyear and transfer students. Kevin Holmes, Colorado College assistant professor of psychology, said on the college’s website, “Standardized test scores do not always reflect the academic potential of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The new test-optional policy removes a barrier to admission for these students.”

To further assist, state lawmakers introduced House Bill 20-1407 on June 6 to curb the necessity for Colorado colleges to require the tests as part of the admissions process.

The bill’s summary states, “The governing board of an institution of higher education may, but is not required to, require a national assessment test score as an eligibility criterion for admission for first-time freshman students who graduate from high school in 2021.”

Application deadlines have been relaxed at UCCS to help students during the coronavirus pandemic.

Also to alleviate stress, Verner said UCCS’s application deadlines remain relaxed to assist students during the pandemic.

“We encourage people to apply early because as we start disbursing financial aid, they get the best chance of getting that on the front end,” he said, “but we don’t have those hard deadlines in spring that other schools do — we don’t need to know until August.”

Despite the additional help, Braun understands next year will be a unique

situation for seniors due to uncertainty surrounding classes during the pandemic. “The key word for next year is ‘mental,’” Braun said. “We’ll have to work on that whether we’re in school in person or online. The stress seniors went through, even if it wasn’t schoolrelated, was tough to watch. We’ll have to provide more support from a counseling perspective.”

Fatima Munoz Palos, currently a senior at Sierra High School, “felt very sad” when COVID-19 stole a portion of

her junior year and high school tennis career. “I was preparing for the season and changing my availability for work and that’s when everything happened,” Palos said. “It bummed me out because I didn’t have anything I was looking forward to since everything was canceled.”

However, Palos, who is currently academically ranked fifth out of 171 in her class (she has a 4.38 GPA), feels prepared for her senior year and college.

Colorado College makes it optional for students to have the ACT or SAT scores as part of the application process.

Palos enrolled in classes at Pikes Peak Community College via the Guaranteed Transferred Duty Pathways program.

Palos felt the program provided her with ample education for the fall 2021 when she heads to Colorado State UniversityFort Collins. Palos also acquired college credits in the process.

“I’m grateful for the program and now I’m going to come back to Sierra and help with that program,” she said. “It was amazing and I feel like more students should be involved because it’s a real eye opener for students who need help with college.”

Palos also obtained enough financial aid and scholarships to eliminate college costs. The accomplishments won’t strip her drive to have a successful senior year.

“I’ll be a first-generation college student,” Palos said. “That’s my motivation.”

Each student’s situation, though, varies. Schools continue to provide avenues to guide students to their goals.

Harrison School District 2 has the Dakota Promise program, which grants a student who has a 2.5 GPA during their junior and senior years a free ride at Pikes Peak Community College.

Academy District 20 has the

Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment program, which allows eligible seniors to remain enrolled at their high school for a fifth year while taking college classes from Pikes Peak Community College, according to the district’s website.

UCCS benefited from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act and received $4 million in April to provide students additional financial aid.

UCCS also has measures in place should a student contract COVID-19.

“We’re holding back several of our single-occupancy rooms so if a student tests positive, whether international or from the United States, and they’re in the residence hall, we can move them in their own single unit with a private bedroom and bathroom with meal service,” Verner said. “They could self-isolate but still continue their classes.”

While COVID-19 remains problematic, high schools and universities continue to adapt to provide for students.

“We’re excited to create an environment that we hope will bring people back in the fall,” Verner said. “If things change drastically and we go back to remote we’re ready. We’ve done it before and we can do it again.”

is an accredited coeducational private Christian school for children ages two years old through 12th grade. High School core classes include science, math, English, social studies, and Bible.

The student’s schedule may also include physical education, health, speech, and foreign language. In addition to core classes, electives such as drama, art, band, journalism, and computers will complete the student’s daily schedule. Honors courses and Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered to qualifying students. Along with Bible, daily chapel is part of each student’s spiritual experience. Students may also choose from a variety of varsity and junior varsity after-school sports programs including cross country, track, basketball, volleyball, football, baseball, and cheerleading.

Career Pathways, located at the Roy J. Wasson Academic Campus, offers students the opportunity to enrich their high school experience with career and technical education training in the areas of automotive technology, agriculture, business and marketing, cyber security, education, hospitality, and multi-media graphic arts design.

Students throughout D11 may access the Career Pathways program, as the courses are designed to fit within each of the four main high schools’ students’ schedules. Transportation is provided to and from each of the four high schools throughout the day, so that students may easily access the Career Pathways programs. Students are taught by certified educators who instruct in the subject in the fields of their expertise. The Career Pathways program prepares young adults to be occupationally effective, socially responsible, and functionally independent. In addition to teaching students specific occupational skills, our programs provide access to a real work environment, where students can apply those skills. Career Pathways offers on-the-job training, job-shadow internships (paid and unpaid), and field trips to the workplace. Each program is articulated with a local college or university, which allows students to receive college credit (with a B or better in their class) while still in high school—at

NO COST to families. It is possible for students to earn numerous occupational certifications by the time they graduate from high school. Upon graduation, our programs qualify students for entry-level positions and prepare students for post-secondary education, should they choose to attend a college or university.

Teaching profession a solid fit for transitioning service members

American service members may not realize it, but the skills and knowledge gained through their military experience translates well into the teaching profession. On the other side of the equa-

tion, young students in local school districts stand to benefit from strong role models in the classroom.

Bringing the two together is the goal of efforts like Troops to Teachers.

Initiated by the Department of Defense in 1994, Troops to Teachers is managed

by the office of the Secretary of Defense in an effort to assist public schools in finding K-12 educators.

Fort Carson hosts the Colorado Troops to Teachers Colorado office and its tasked with helping former service members lead the next generation of Americans.

Korey Brown, a retired Army officer and special education teacher, runs the program and John Scheuer, a retired Naval NCO and social studies teacher, manages candidates and the “Education Track” of the Career Skills Program at Fort Carson.

The program performs three main functions: recruiting military and former military members, advising and counseling them, and placing them as teachers and educators in public schools.

Anyone who is serving honorably or has served honorably is eligible for Troops to Teachers. That’s regardless of education level. The program’s advising and counseling service also helps service members earn their teacher’s license or certification at many different educational institutions.

“When Soldiers are transitioning and looking for their next career, they may think that teaching could be a viable option, so having someone to reach out to is most beneficial,” said Brett Smith, a special forces veteran and now the principal at Timberview Middle School in Academy School District 20. “Just having a knowledgeable person to talk to and ask questions makes the career research and transition much less difficult.”

Joel Hamilton, a former Army colonel and Fort Carson garrison commander, is now executive director of human resources for Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8. He describes Troops to Teachers as a formal pathway for transitioning service members.

CSU Pueblo Offers Support and New Options for Military Active Duty, Veterans and Their Families

Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) has been serving military active duty, veterans and their families in Southern Colorado for over 50 years. Since it opened its doors in 1933 as a three-room junior college, it has grown into the regional comprehensive university it is today offering 29 baccalaureate and six master’s degree programs, serving roughly 4,000 students from all 50 states and 23 countries. During the entire time, the university has remained committed to serving the surrounding military communities and the men and women it serves. Even in today’s unpredictable times, CSU Pueblo is committed to offering a safe and rewarding educational experience through online, inperson and hybrid classes.

In 2018, CSU Pueblo was the first university in Colorado to be designated a Purple Heart institution – an honor recently renewed for another two years by The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH.) Our Military and Veteran Success Center (MVSC) staff and partners across the campus community implemented a training program to help faculty and staff understand the unique experiences and educational needs of our wounded veterans, as well as a range of

support programs to help veterans enter higher education and succeed. MVSC Director Dana Rocha also recently received the MOPH Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor given by the MOPH Department of Colorado, in recognition of her advocacy for veterans in higher education.

Most recently, CSU Pueblo became one of the first colleges and universities to partner with the United States Army to specialize in credentialing certificates for active duty service members and Army National Guard.

The U.S. Army has begun a new program to assist active soldiers in pursuing credentials/licensures/certifications called The Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) Program. The CA program provides additional economic support for an individual to pursue additional academic credential/licensure/certification, books, fees and exams, as well as recertification of active duty soldiers, which can lead to additional employment opportunities for active duty service members.

A soldier who applies for the CA program can also apply for the Tuition Assistance program (TA) or viceversa with a combined limit of $4000 per fiscal year.

“We are thrilled that CSU Pueblo has been selected as an institution that can provide service members additional educational opportunities through the CA program. Being a designated military friendly institution, this new program furthers our opportunity to be a university of choice for service members,” said Kristyn White Davis, CSU Pueblo Dean of Extended Studies.

Much like the Army’s TA funding provided to eligible soldiers working towards an academic degree, CA was created to allow soldiers to pursue credentials. CA is a voluntary, off-duty training program that directly contributes to improving total U.S. Army readiness, supporting soldiers’ professional development, retaining quality soldiers, and preparing soldiers for meaningful employment upon transition from military service.

Soldiers from regular Army, Army National Guard, United States Army Reserve officers, warrant officers, noncommissioned officers, and enlisted are eligible to participate in the CA program.

Certificates being offered include: Homeland Security Studies, Recreation Leadership, Sustainability, Construction Manager, Estimating & Planning Construction Costs, Advanced Construction Manager, Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Green Belt, English Graduate, Railroad Engineering, Diversity Studies, Nurse Educator, Executive Leadership and Nurse Educator Post Masters.

But programs like Troops to Teachers can provide service members with a road map,” Hamilton said According to the Colorado Department of Education, demand is high for teachers in school districts around the state, especially in the areas of math, science, foreign languages and special education. In a 2018 survey, the CDE reported that more than 80 percent of urban and suburban school districts had vacant educator positions unable to be filled and 66 percent had filled vacancies with long-term substitutes.

Troops to Teachers is assisting the CDE in retaining teachers and boasts an 85 percent retention rate of Troops to Teachers educators after five years in the classroom.

Brown explained that service members not only set an example to students, they teach much more than just a subject area, while helping students’ growth and development. As teachers they become a role model for their students, much like they’ve been a role model for the Soldiers in their military units.

“I think what most schools can benefit from is the leadership qualities that service members and veterans can offer,” said Brown. “Through their military experience, service members hold a unique blend of leadership and management skills, which translate well to the classroom.”

Smith contends that service members are often a natural fit in the teaching profession.

“When soldiers first enter the military, they endure a lot of training, but as they move up [through the ranks] they become responsible for training,” he said. “They

become a teacher of soldiers. They know how to build relationships. Whether its technology or math or social studies, soldiers have a natural work ethic. Many school districts are looking for teachers who are organized, are committed, have integrity and are professional. Those are qualities a military member brings to the profession.”

When he transitioned out of the Army two decades ago, Smith said programs like Troops to Teachers were just getting started. Though he eventually sought help from program directors then, he had already forged a plan on his own.

“I was finishing up my bachelor’s degree at a local university, but I had to do all the research myself,” he said. “Universities just provide the education you need, whereas Troops to Teachers can help by providing connections to school districts and licensure programs.”

Recruiting the best-fit teachers has become a priority for Hamilton in F-FC School District 8.

“Our student bodies are the most diverse in the area because of our military connection,” Hamilton said.

“So, we want to mirror that with our staff. That means we focus our recruiting in like communities, even out of state (like the communities outside of Fort Riley, Kansas). And, we’ll need to continue to recruit because roughly 60 percent of our workforce is mobile. Many of our teachers and administrators are spouses and family members of service members who end up moving to other installations.”

Military experience helpful for launching a career in software development

Steven Anderson always knew he was interested in creative problem solving and computer programming, but he wasn’t sure of how to turn those interests into a career without spending years in school.

After taking a few college courses in mechanical engineering, Steven changed gears and enlisted in the US Army and served for seven years.

He left the military in 2017 and decided to try traditional college again and began studying Applied Mathematics at UCCS. “Once I started, I noticed I always had the most fun in the computer science courses,” he said.

In September 2019, he found out about a two-day class called Try Coding hosted by the Turing School of Software & Design.

“I had heard of these ‘coding bootcamps’ and I knew software development was the direction I wanted to go, so I signed up for the two day class.”

In the weeks before the class, Anderson spent time researching the Turing School and compared it to other technical training programs designed to teach students the skills they need to launch a career in software development.

“Seven months sounded like a long time to spend on just software, but most of the other programs I found didn’t feel like enough for me,” he said.

“I went to the Try Coding class and met the instructors and got a feel for what it would be like to be a student at Turing and I was like ‘yeah, I need to apply to this school’ it felt the most thorough and I believed I’d get out of it what I wanted.”

He also liked that the Turing School would accept his GI Bill® benefits.

“I appreciated how helpful the team was at Turing. All I had to do was connect with Turing’s Finance Director and they gave me all the paperwork, I filled it out, and they handled everything else,” Steven said. “There was no hassle setting up the GI Bill® at Turing.”

Once the application and enrollment process was complete, it was time to get to work as a student. The adjustment from normal life to full-time student is challenging, but thanks to his time in the military, Steven dove right into the discomfort of learning and quickly applying new concepts as soon as he started in November 2019.

“I was used to working long shifts and uncertainty,” Steven said. “The program is geared well for someone exiting the military. We’re used to getting a firehose of new information and applying it to a project immediately.

It reminded me of when I learned all of the flight ground skills in less than three months, that mindset is normal for most people in the military.”

In March 2020, Steven, as well as the rest of his classmates, faced a speed bump when the COVID-19 pandemic moved class fully online. The school plans to remain online through early 2021 and students can experience the previously only in-person program fully online if they enroll before November.

“It was a challenging transition but I survived,” he said. “I was commuting to Denver from Colorado Springs everyday and the transition to a remote learning environment cut all of that out and gave me more time for studying and projects.”

This resulted in some of Steven’s proudest accomplishments as a student.

Two of his projects he built for class were featured in Turing’s Demo Competition, where top student applications are judged by a panel of tech industry experts and employers.

“I love that I have these projects in my portfolio and can show people and say ‘I built these!’ using new code languages that I had never learned before.”

The same dedication that got him through his time in the military and the Turing curriculum were what stood out to potential employers and ultimately landed him a job at the Sanborn Map Company as a Software Engineer just two weeks after graduating in June 2020.

“They could tell I had discipline, and admired that I knew how to take a task and see it through,” Steven shared. “Some veterans might not realize, but the skills you have are so valuable to potential employers. Backpack Bash has goal of equipping 10,000 students with supplies

Pikes Peak United Way and COSILoveYou are teaming up to equip 10,000 kids in El Paso County with backpacks full of school supplies.

Donated items will be collected in July at locations across the Pikes Peak region. On two days in August, the free plan is to distribute backpacks to thousands of families who visit one of five locations.

The Backpack Bash drive will run through July 24, with 16 sites collecting backpacks and supplies, including 10 Walmart locations. All donated items must be new and backpacks will be stuffed by volunteers before distributing them to children.

The most-needed items are high school and elementary school backpacks, in addition to spiral notebooks (college and wide ruled), three-ring binders, pens (blue, black or red), pencils, plastic pocket folders and face masks.

Other items that can be donated: mechanical pencils, colored pencils, erasers, highlighters, rulers, protractors, loose leaf college ruled paper, 3x5 index cards, scientific or basic calculators, thumb drives, dry erase markers, facial tissue, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes.

Reopening details for El Paso County school districts

COVID-19 won’t be gone by the time the 2020-2021 school year begins. While school districts do plan to reopen schools for in-person classes as close to normal as is safe, the possibility of an outbreak remains. Though most will have similar health and safety regulations, every school district in the area will handle safety standards differently, so it’s important for parents to get the most accurate, up-to-date information they need.

Harrison School District 2 hsd2.org D2’s superintendents, Dr. Wendy Birhanzel and John Rogerson, have outlined a plan that modifies the startof-school schedule. The schedule incorporates a scheduled orientation for families — currently planned for Thursday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 7 — to bring them up to speed on changed policies, including health and safety protocols, the models behind in-person and remote learning systems and “new devices students will receive to access the online platforms we are utilizing for both in-person and remote learning,” according to a statement issued by Birhanzel and Rogerson. They’ve outlined a list of systems they’ll be using for education, student-to-student team working and communication with parents.

Widefield School District 3 wsd3.org/fall-plans School administrators for D3 have announced three plans for reopening: a modified in-person plan, a distance learning contingency and a hybrid model that combines the two. Currently, they intend to implement their modified in-person plan, which would allow every student to attend classes “in person, on-site, five days a week,” according to director of communications Samantha Briggs.

“Our highest priority is to do our best to ensure the health and safety of our staff, students, and families, and we will continue to do so following state and local health guidelines,” said Briggs. “While this is our intention, it is clear we need to have plans to change quickly depending on the situation which we will undoubtedly face.”

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 ffc8.org/domain/1495 Students at D8 will need to wait a little longer for a cohesive plan to be announced, but the district intends to maintain Monday, Aug. 10 as the first day of the school year. They have yet to define specific safety procedures and changes that students and staff will be required to follow. However, the district has been

working on a new, fully online education platform for K-12 students to learn from home should parents choose that route. Information on this Fountain-Fort Carson Virtual Academy should be available on the district website later in July.

Colorado Springs School District 11 d11.org/returntolearn D11 administrators have released a four-page document outlining planned practices, available to the public. According to the document, district officials believe “the health benefits of in-person school attendance outweigh the health risks.” To enact that vision without exposing students to undue risk, the district will be modifying in-classroom learning procedures to conform to guidance from all applicable health departments. Further, public information officer Devra Ashby said via e-mail that the district has planned a remote learning model “for students/families who opt to keep their children home and for any possible rolling closures due to any potential outbreaks.”

Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 cmsd12.org/district_information Administrators from D12 released a survey in June, and according to the 2,300 responses, 88% of D12 parents stated intent to send their children to school for the new year, with 5 percent intending to enroll their students in online classes and 6 percent undecided.

With that data in hand, D12 superintendent of schools Dr. Walter Cooper released an open letter to parents clarifying procedures. D12 will not be offering a mix of in-person and remote instruction, as Cooper said that “it simply isn’t realistic to expect them to also manage remote learning for other students at the same time.”

Manitou Springs School District 14 mssd14.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=57448&page Id=28001980 Every Wednesday through August 26, the District has been and will continue to host weekly Zoom meetings to inform parents about their plans for restarting in the new school year, each preceded with a letter to the community from superintendent Elizabeth Domangue.

In her July 1 letter, Domangue said that the district intends to offer full, in-person education for all students.

The district will cover the cost of online classes as an alternative for families who choose that route. Rather than mandate D14 teachers provide such materials, the district will use Colorado Empowered Learning and Colorado Digital Learning Solutions to provide online education. As a contingency, the district may also offer a hybrid plan.

Academy School District 20 asd20.org/announcements In his periodic superintendent newsletter, D20 superintendent of schools Tom Gregory has stated that the district will announce specific plans after Friday, July 17. For now, he said the district intends to open as close to normally as possible, with contingencies in place for any students and staff who will not attend classes in person.

“We are bound by any Executive Orders of the Governor, Health Orders of the Colorado Department of Health and Environment, and local El Paso County guidelines that may exist in August,” said Gregory.

“We do not yet know what those will be – measures like cohort size, class sizes, face coverings, etc. – but by law, we will have to follow them.”

Lewis-Palmer School District 38 lewispalmer.org/backtoschool2020 As of Tuesday, July 7, D38 administrators intend to reopen schools in the district for in-person education at all education levels. However, the District will be offering online options for all elementary, middle and high school students. At all three levels, students will be able to enroll for full-time inperson or full-time online studies. Middle and high school students will have the option to split their schedules between online and in-person. For middle and elementary school students, the District will offer part time access to its HomeSchool Enrichment Academy to supplement part time home schooling.

To minimize risk of infection, the district will enact physical distancing protocols, likely resulting in smaller classes, assemblies and events.

Falcon School District 49 d49.org/domain/2661 As part of their reopening plan, D49 administrators have staggered students’ return schedule. Students in kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade will return to school on Friday, Aug. 7, while all other students will return that following Monday. After, the district has stated intent to conform to its schedule as planned.

Classes will be capped at 25 students, with alterations depending on space constraints and safe distance protocols, and staff will be required to wear masks whenever interacting with students. In mid-July, the district will open up a registration process for its remote e-learning program in order to assess how much demand there is and plan accordingly. Started in 2004, this prestigious, internationally recognized program provides select educators from around the world with new skills, strategies and capabilities to improve their classroom/student engagement as they help forge the next generation of space, science and technology pioneers.

Teacher Liaisons tend to be Master Teachers who work to inspire and prepare students to pursue and excel in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Membership in the Teacher Liaison program is open to educators in all disciplines, ranging from science and mathematics to language arts, physical education, special education, and the arts. Applicants must demonstrate their commitment to integrate space education into their curriculum.

The Teacher Liaison program is open to public, private, and homeschool teachers, in both informal and formal education. School administrators, principals, specialists, curriculum and instruction developers, as well as others who deliver educational programs to students are also welcomed and encouraged to apply. If chosen for the program, teachers receive Space Foundation training and resources to further integrate space into their classrooms. They are also invited to attend the Space Foundation’s Space Symposium, held annually each spring in Colorado Springs.

Following a rigorous application and selection process, a new class of Teacher Liaisons is announced each December.

Upon selection, the new class of Teacher Liaisons is called a “Flight” to denote the teachers’ mission as premier space/ STEM educators.

In announcing the new call for applications, Space Foundation Senior Education Specialist Keith Barger shared, “One of the greatest aspects of the Teacher Liaison program is, no matter if you are a first-year teacher or have 20-plus years of experience,

the program offers lessons, strategies, and professional development that you can use and implement with your students.”

With over 250 members around the world, and an annual reach numbering in the tens of thousands of students, Space Foundation Teacher Liaisons actively collaborate by sharing best practices, and in their support of one another on their mission to shape the next generation of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and explorers.

Reflecting on her experiences with

the program when she was selected in 2017, Courtney Black, a fifth grade science and mathematics teacher from Fort Myers, Florida said, “The Teacher Liaison program has made such an indelible mark on my teaching that the effects can be seen not only in my life, but in the lives of my students. The multitude of opportunities for professional development, networking, and engaging in meaningful learning experiences with my students has forever changed me as an educator. I am humbled and inspired to be around

The Teacher Liaison program is part of the Space Foundation’s recently launched Center for Innovation and Education, which is dedicated to driving workforce development and economic opportunity so every generation can find their place in the space economy.
