Dear Colegio San José family and friends,

As I write this letter, we have been dealing with the effects of hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico. As you may know, we were not hit directly in the San Juan area, but the southwest corner of the islands and the mountainous center of the island were affected moderately. It is in the center of the island between Orocovis and Villalba that we have our small retreat house. The area received many inches of rain and access was blocked by landslides. As soon as the roads were cleared and electricity restored, we were able to continue with our retreat program.

To educate for Adaptation and Change continues as the most used characteristic of Marianist Education in our school since the hurricanes of 2017 and last year was not an exception. Altering the school calendar, alternating between remote teaching or teaching at the school, small groups, the use of our larger classrooms and labs for teaching, multiple lunch periods and venues to provide our food service, were among the modifications that we had to establish in order to function during the year. At the end it was a very successful year in all aspects of our school life. We must be thankful to God and all the components of our school community, in particular to our faculty and staff who worked so diligently to accomplish our goals.

As you look at our Annual Report of 2021-22, think about how much you contributed to the Colegio to be such a successful Catholic and Marianist school. Gracias. I encourage you to continue helping us during the 2022-23 academic year. May God bless you,
