After leaving Vancouver behind, we travel through the breathtaking Seymour Narrows, part of the legendary Inside Passage, getting our first taste of the epic wilderness that awaits us on this memorable voyage. We come first to the fishing harbor of Ketchikan, where the houses are built on stilts over the water and there’s an impressive collection of 19th-century totem poles. Next is Sitka, Alaska’s original capital with a fascinating Russian heritage, which you can glimpse in the onion-shaped dome of St. Michael’s Cathedral. We then head north to the impressive Tracy Arm fjord and the Sawyer Glacier – be sure to look out for whales in the icy waters. In Wrangell, home to the Tlingit people, you can admire 8,000-year-old rock carvings, before we once more traverse the beautiful Seymour Narrows back to the lively city of Vancouver, where our journey ends.
