CONFERENCE NOTES #4 TOPICS TO REVISIT GOAL
Research Direct Admissions + Simplified Application Processes
Finish Applying to College
Create StudentAid.gov Account
To help scholars understand the many ways to apply to college. Common App, NCICU, Niche, and NC College Connect are resources to utilize to participate in direct admissions and simplified application processes.
Submit the CSS Profile (if required)
To help scholars be the most informed and competitive applicant they can be. Confirm application type, decision plans, application deadlines, and finish writing essays Complete and submit rolling, ED, EA and regular decision applications and track these application submissions on the College List Tracking Card Be mindful that some schools do offer multiple rounds of Early Decision (ED I and ED II)
To begin the process of applying for financial aid. Scholars who plan to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after October 1 must first create a StudentAid.gov account which is a username and password used to complete the FAFSA and provide access to other Federal Student Aid functions A parent and scholar need separate StudentAid gov accounts
The CSS Profile is an application used by colleges and scholarship programs to award non-federal institutional aid. The application is open. Schools may have different deadlines - be sure to check with each school you are applying to. A list of participating schools is available online. Some schools may also require divorced or separated parents to complete separate applications There is a fee for the CSS Profile $25, first school $16, each additional Fee waivers are built into the platform so eligible students (based on family AGI) will not pay

To ensure scholars knows the importance of staying focused and doing well on fall semester exams. Remind them that offers of admission are conditional upon review of the final high school transcript which includes fall semester grades so scholars must keep performing at the same competitive level throughout the senior year.
To ensure the scholar knows how to check the most up-to-date information at each college regarding financial aid forms required and knows the importance of submitting the forms as early as possible. Seek the assistance of the Crosby Scholars Financial Aid team. Families should plan to submit the 26-27 FAFSA soon We have a recording of the How to Complete the FAFSA webinar
To secure funding to pay for college. Apply for Crosby Scholarships via the links in the Crosby Scholars Scholarship Handbook.
