Considered a work of science fiction when first published, Fahrenheit 451 has been debated for decades - it’s central issues of censorship, the effects of technology on society and literature, and the means by which knowledge is gained - continue to be very real concerns today.

Voice is an a cappella trio performing repertoire spanning the medieval music of Hildegard von Bingen to twenty-first-century works, as well as folk songs from around the world. Their distinctive sound is driven by individual voices that blend to create beautiful harmonies.

Their choice of repertoire reflects the style of music they most enjoy performing but they also look for music that is a bit unusual, as well as songs that they can make their own.

Gorecki Family Theater, CSB Trapped in Antarctica with no hope of rescue, the great British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton kept 27 men alive for two years in the most inhospitable climate on earth.

Ninety-five years later, in the worst economic meltdown since the Great Depression, Hartford insurance man Walter Spivey struggles to justify his recent promotion and save his employees’ jobs, with only Shackleton’s journal as a guide.

Gorecki Family Theater, CSB Staff cartoonist for The New Yorker, Roz Chast is a brilliant interpreter of the everyday. Her cartoons depict neuroses, hilarity, angst and domesticity. More than 1000 of them have been printed in the magazine since 1978.

Roz Chast is known for her cast of recurring characters - generally hapless but relatively cheerful “everyfolk.”

In her cartoons, she uses great humor to address the issues of our time: guilt, anxiety, aging, families, friends, money, real estate, and as she would say, “much, much more!” The editor of The New Yorker, David Remnick, has called her “the magazine’s only certifiable genius.”

Elizabeth Streb and her Extreme Action Company give Action a voice and a story in FORCES. Big ideas, big hardware, big hearts and big muscles collide in this big show for the whole family.

FORCES is the story of Action. Bowling balls fall, a floor rapidly turns to create turbulence, a 25-foot square wall is occupied by counter weighted performers and the Whizzing Gizmo intermittently ejects bodies into space.

Called the Evel Knievel of dance, Streb’s choreography intertwines dance, boxing, rodeo, the circus, and Hollywood stunt-work to create a bristling, muscle-andmotion experience that combines daring with strict precision.

Gorecki Gallery Lounge will display photographic images of CSB Alumna photographer recapturing her own childhood while seeing it through the eyes of her child.
