Eligibility for all programs

• A four-year nursing degree from an accredited program conferred prior to the start of the program.

(The post-master’s DNP: Leadership track requires a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.)

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0.

• Licensed registered nurse.

“• Preferred qualifications for selected programs may include relevant work experience. The benefit of coming to Saint Ben’s is having faculty members who are actively serving a role in a hospital or clinic setting as a nurse or a nurse practitioner – so we are not only textbook ready but real-world ready to be a nurse.”

Brianna Peterson, BSN, RN, PHN CentraCare, St. Cloud Hospital CSB and SJU class of ’22

“Having clinicals guaranteed played a major role because coming back to school after being in the workforce for a while was a stressful transition to begin with, and getting that one piece taken care of that didn’t fall straight on my shoulders made it an easy decision.”

Chris Dirkes, BSN, RN

Neurology ICU, Mayo Clinic

CSB and SJU class of ’15

Working professionals seeking to level up their careers love the flexibility our graduate programs offer. Our work-friendly, hybrid format allows students to take classes online and requires them to be on campus 2-3 times per semester.

Typically, students are responsible for finding their own preceptors for clinical rotations, which can be difficult. Our graduate programs provide those placements and remove that stress, allowing students to focus on their education.

Our curriculum is designed to help graduates perform at the highest professional level by developing ethical leadership, advocacy and advanced nursing skills. Our programs include extended clinical time and courses not offered in most graduate programs.

Students with a bachelor of science in nursing can move directly into the doctorate track without completing a master’s degree. Students with a master’s degree can choose a full- or part-time track to obtain a DNP in Leadership.

Tuition is based on the number of credits taken in a given semester. In addition to tuition, students pay a program or technology fee each semester and may incur additional fees (such as simulation laboratory fees) that are associated with certain courses.

Tuition discounts are available for alumnae/i and certain clinical partner employees. In addition, there are opportunities for graduate assistant teaching positions that could reduce tuition costs. Please contact the graduate nursing program chair at for more information about tuition discounts or a graduate nursing assistantship.

Personalized financial assistance is available through the financial aid office. Contact the CSB Financial Aid Office at 320-363-5388.

Graduates of our Family Nurse Practitioner program are eligible to become board certified and licensed. Graduates of our Doctor of Nursing Practice: Leadership program can be certified as a nurse educator and/or nurse executive.

Unique to CSB, graduate nursing students have the ability to develop specialized skills beyond the traditional family nurse practitioner track through a specialty clinical course and clinical rotation.

Graduate nursing students receive one-to-one mentorship from experienced, doctorate-degree research faculty on DNP projects and theses. This personalized attention, paired with a small cohort size, creates a more enriched learning environment.

Our programs are competitively priced. In addition, tuition discounts are available for alumnae/i and certain clinical partner employees.

State-of-the-art nursing facilities

Students have access to the latest technology and equipment to practice their skills. The Guy and Barbara Schoenecker Nursing Education Suite is modeled after an actual clinic and hospital wing.

As a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college, our academic communities take a holistic approach to education. In addition to providing an exceptional academic experience, we also promote the spiritual and ethical aspects of nursing through the development of ethical leadership, advocacy and transitional skills.

To help our students perform at their highest professional level, we provide personalized attention and mentoring. Our instructors – who are certified for online teaching – are deeply committed to excellence in student learning, teaching, service and scholarship.
