STAY SAFE

ONLINE Hi friends! Sorry I am late. I was just setting up my “Kindsville Classroom” online account!

Have you set up your accounts?

2 / TOTAL DEFENCE

Yes!

I took a really long time to decide on a password. It is super special and unique. I am sure none of you can guess it.

… Could it be…

“I LOVE DAISIES”?

No, it can’t work. You need to have numbers in your password too.

No! I told you, it is not that easy to guess!

Fine, I guess I can tell you since we are friends! –

Wait, you are not supposed to –

Oh yeah. Is it…

“KINDNESS101”?

I can’t take it! You are making me so curious!

It is “R8INBOW”! “Rainbow”, but with a number “8”.

Sher! You are not supposed to tell anyone your passwords!

Why not?

You could get into all kinds of trouble.

We should be careful of strangers on the Internet. We can’t see their faces so we won’t know who they really are. They could be bad guys in disguise!

4 / TOTAL DEFENCE

Oh. I did not think about that. I will be more careful in the future.

Yikes, I don’t want to talk to bad guys!

It is dangerous. It means other people can log in and use your account without your permission.

What other online dangers should we look out for, Singa?

The safest is not to talk to strangers online and avoid clicking on suspicious websites or emails. Ask your parents or a trusted adult when you are surfing the Internet so that they can guide you away from dangerous websites and emails.

Wow. That sounds serious.

Emails from strangers can contain viruses that can harm your computer!

I wish I knew this earlier. A few months ago, I opened an email out of curiosity, and it made my computer crash!

It was! I had to trouble my parents to get it repaired.

Oh dear. Thanks for sharing these Internet safety tips, Singa!

You’re welcome! I hope they help you

Say thank you

Ask your dad, uncles, brothers, or even male teachers what they did when they were in NS! By listening to their stories, we can better appreciate the efforts they have put in to overcome different challenges. Thank the people you know who have completed NS by giving them a thank you card! We should be grateful for their hard work and determination in keeping Singapore safe.

FEATURED LETTERS

Elliana Carr Global Indian International School, P2 (2019) Dear Singa, I lost my favourite eraser in class. I was very sad. The next day, I saw a piece of paper on my desk. It was a note from my classmate, Amber. My eraser was with the note. Amber found it on the floor. I thanked her and felt happy! Amelie, P2 (2019)
