Welcome to Selhurst Park for the ninth annual Crystal Palace FC Beer Festival!

W

ell, what an exciting finish to the season, with the eight-goal thriller against Bournemouth last Sunday, as we reached 49 points and scored 51 goals –both our best totals in Palace’s Premier League history! It seems like only yesterday that we celebrated the Club managing to survive (just!) in the Championship (at the end of CPFC 2010’s first season of ownership) with our very first Beer Festival back in May 2011. It’s incredible to see how far we have progressed since then. We really do have something special to celebrate this afternoon, at the ninth annual Crystal Palace Beer Festival, as we now look forward to our seventh successive season in the top flight! A dream come true for those of us who were brought up watching Palace playing in Division Three in the late 1970s.

Also this year, fans can take a seat in the Holmesdale with a pint in hand and enjoy watching Andy Johnson score goals – that’s as good as it gets for me! AJ is back to take part in one of several matches organised by the Palace for Life Foundation that features many other former Palace players back on the Selhurst Park turf today. Some of those Palace Legends will be joining myself and Neil Morrissey for the opening of today’s festival in the Red and Blue Bar. Neil, as many of you will be aware, brews our own Palace Ale and has been a big supporter of this event each year.

I would like to thank The Cronx Brewery for their tremendous support as we have prepared for today’s event. Cronx is based in Croydon and owned by Palace fans. They will have some special new brews available today, so make sure that you visit their bar.

We also have a choice of over 200 beers and ciders for you to sample. This vast range contains every

beer style imaginable from dark milds (smooth and malty) , IPAs (dry and hoppy), Porters, Stouts, Pale Ales, Blondes to traditional Bitters. Whatever style of beer you like – there is something here for you!

We continue to support new, up-and-coming, small microbreweries in our local area. So it’s great that we’ve got breweries like Bexley, Brockley, Wimbledon, By The Horns, obviously our friends at Cronx in Croydon, Belleville and Sambrooks from Wandsworth and the London Beer Factory from West Norwood here today. Also, look out for the beers from the new Pretty Decent Brewery made by Palace fans Matt and James Nida. Don’t just take my word for it – make your way around the festival and find out first hand all that is available today.

As always, we will be showing the FA Cup final on the stadium big screen from 5 pm, plus a great selection of entertainment through the day including local artists such as The Rooftops, Mahogany Soulz and the South London Jazz Orchestra.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has made today’s event possible, with special mention to our Public Catering Operations Manager Charlie Shanahan and all the staff at the Club.

GENERAL INFORMATION A BEER VOUCHER scheme will operate throughout the day. You can purchase vouchers at the Beer Voucher Kiosks on the Upper and Lower Holmesdale Concourse. Vouchers are £2 each; please see menus to see prices for each item.

SMOKING AREA There is a designated smoking area at the corner of the Arthur Wait and Holmesdale Stand and within the turnstile entrance of E1 in the Holmesdale Stand. Smoking is not permitted in any other part of the Stadium.

Exits will be via designated points throughout the Lower and Upper Holmesdale concourse.

Kotchin 01 Pale Ale - 3.9%

Citra Pale 01 Pale Ale - 4%

To Kotch: London slang; to chill out, relax, enjoy doing nothing in particular.

This is the perfect beer for that. A hoppy blonde ale brewed with Cascade hops to give it a citrus and peach aroma.

Our strong, still cider is created using the traditional Barnes’ family recipe produced using a blend of Kentish culinary & dessert apples.

Nektar 01 Pale Ale - 4.5% A pale ale brewed using Marynka hops from Poland. Hints of apricot on the nose combine with a hoppy, citrussy finish, to have you longing for more nektar.

Standard 01 Bitter - 3.8% A full bodied British Ale using Pale and Crystal malts with a touch of the darker malts for depth of flavour. We use English hops for aroma and flavour.

Entire 01 Porter - 5.2% Inspired by Croydon brewing heritage.

Hints of chocolate, coffee and dark fruits on the palate.

Daily Bread 02 Bitter - 3.8% Rich crystal malt and roasted barley add the chestnut colour to the beer while UK hops, Progress and Challenger add fruity, herbal, cedar, earthy and grassy notes and the late addition of Celeia gives more herbal and floral characteristics.

Pop Up 01 IPA - 5% This IPA uses hops from USA & New Zealand, including Comet, Waimea and Motueka. Tons of dry hopping give it a great tropical fruit nose.

London ESB 02 Bitter - 5.5% A classic ESB, based on the recipe from our 2018 ESB collaboration with Fuller’s; malty, sweet and bitter.

Cherry Pale 01 IPA - 4%

The Belgian Pale 02 Pale Ale - 4.1%

This West-Coast IPA shimmers with warm copper tones from its pale and crystal malts, but break through the surface and you’ll find a wave of Centennial and Simcoe hops that crashes into your mouth.

Hopped with Amarillo and Hallertau Blanc. The beer is smooth, subtly hoppy and estary. Possibly the best cask beer we’ve ever done.

Here’s to Sir Bobby and everything he did for football with this refreshingly fruity amber ale!

A sheep is said to be riggwelted when it has rolled on its back and is unable to get back up. This beer layers chocolate and coffee with dark fruits offering a sweet balance against the bitter roasted flavours.

A Golden Pale Ale, brewed using UK Sovereign hops, which give a low bitterness with a refreshing, traditional fruity hop finish.

Extra pale malt is blended with Munich, Vienna and a splash of Crystal malt to produce a light golden colour. The hops add fruit and floral notes, typical of a North American style pale ale.

A deep red pale ale made with dark crystal and rye malts to give a biscuity spice finish.

A medium fruity cider – gorgeous pink hue – made from 100% cider apples on our Herefordshire farm – intense fruity aroma – very drinkable.

Painted Lady Perry is a refreshing drink made only from the juice of freshly pressed Worcestershire perry pears. It is medium sweet to taste and light and fruity with some pleasing citrus notes.

The legendary golden hoppy pale ale. An award winning beer from its earliest days and still with the same great taste today.

Hand-crafted Bonnie and Blonde owes its wonderfully light and refreshing taste to Maris Otter and Caragold malts, this pale ale starts out with notes of floral and orange before becoming sweet and malty. It truly is a bonnie wee beer.

A pleasant refreshing golden ale brewed with a blend of pale malts, a hint of crystal malt and roasted barley.

The sweet aroma is of incense and elderberry with hits of caramel richness.

Winter is coming! Our imperial milk stout makes a return with rich chocolate flavours and dark fruit notes. The addition of vanilla comes through to give it that extra, milky layer luxury.

Cinnamon Danish Red Ale - 3.3%

Ranger is our park pale. Light, crisp with slight juicy notes, perfect for days in the summer sun.

Stout - 7.1%

Tropical fruit salad. Fruit ,fruit and more cattiness. Tropical. Mangoes, peach, lychee juiciness. Also papaya. From the beginning to the middle to the bitter end. Body is full, creamy, and soft.

It’s brewed with 8 different malts, and then crammed full of Mosaic, Citra and Ekuanot hops. It’s a big, punchy, juicy hop bomb.

Mariana Trench 11 Pale Ale - 5.3% Packed full of American and New Zealand hops. Huge aromas of mango, passionfruit and grapefruit yet the flavour is balanced with moderate bitterness that is easy to drink.

Sirius Dog Star 12 Red Ale - 4.4% A smooth malty red ale made up of a blend of six malts to give it a unique sweet liquorice taste and a soft fruity finish. With numerous awards to its name but the finest to date is SIBA’s Overall Champion Cask Ale 2018.

Little Things That Kill 11 IPA - 3.9% This beer will have the same malt and body each time, but the hops will change depending on the whim of the brewers.

This is the closest thing we have to a session beer so drink (responsibly), followed by another and another.

Tonnes of green apples are pressed, and a little muscovado sugar added, to give this gorgeous red liquid - with the colour change a result of tannins in the skins oxidising.
