The Baltics & Northern Europe Edit

Northern stars – discover Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and more

Fairytale cities, café-lined canals, lively waterfronts, and dramatic coastlines – Northern Europe is a pure delight. The warm, golden evenings stretch out invitingly – in some places, the sun doesn’t set at all – while days bring cultural treasures old and new, innovative cuisine to try, and plenty of outdoor adventures amid some of the world’s most beautiful scenery.

The Baltic region’s rich history and culture are among the highlights of this eight-night cruise, some of which takes place in the ethereal light of the midnight sun. We start with an overnight in the island city of Stockholm, where a walking tour of the Swedish capital’s art offers a modern twist, then continue to Helsinki to see sights including its famous church built in solid rock. Onwards to Tallinn, the enchanting medieval capital in Estonia, and Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland, recognized by UNESCO for preserving the fabric of a medieval town, including defensive walls and towers. Latvia’s Riga, with its Art Nouveau architecture, is next, followed by a sea day to the seaside resort of Warnemünde, Germany, before disembarking in Copenhagen.

Set off on a memorable seven-night roundtrip from Copenhagen in the esteemed company of Chef Nobu, who chose Crystal for his only restaurant at sea back in 2003 – a venue that is a guest favorite to this day. Also helping us to celebrate our 35th anniversary will be past Captains Egil Giske and Gulleik Svalastog, former Cruise Director Gary Hunter, Broadway actress Rachel York, and entertainer James Fox, so expect plenty of razzle-dazzle onboard. Onshore, meanwhile, our voyage introduces us to the vast sand dunes of Skagen, Denmark, the colorful wooden houses of Kristiansand, Norway, the Michelin-starred restaurants of Gothenburg, Sweden, and the Viking heritage of Oslo, before we return to the Danish capital.

Discover some of Northern Europe’s lesser-known treasures on this exhilarating voyage around the Baltic Sea. We begin with an overnight in Copenhagen – a perfect window of time in which to soak up the city’s Scandi-cool vibe and try Denmark’s famous pastries. We sail first to Ronne, for maritime history and freshly smoked herring, best enjoyed by one of the many sandy beaches. To Poland, now, where Gdansk offers beautiful architecture and a sober history, before a sea day brings us the striking Finnish capital, Helsinki. Estonia beckons, with Tallinn’s fairy-tale Old Town revealing centuries of heritage, before we end our voyage in Stockholm, Sweden’s enchanting island capital spread across 14 islands.

This voyage begins with an overnight in stylish Stockholm – stroll its cobbled streets, admire its island scenery, and sample its cutting-edge dining scene. Next comes the Finnish capital, Helsinki, with striking architecture including the emerald domes of its cathedral standing tall over Senate Square. Next, we cross back to Sweden, to the beautiful island of Gotland, where we step back in time at Visby. Ringed by medieval stone towers and with a multitude of wellpreserved buildings dating back to the 1200s, this fascinating town is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. A day at sea, enjoying all the comforts that our ship has to offer, brings us to Copenhagen, where we overnight to make the most of this capital of culture, cuisine, and cool.

Embark on an eight-night cruise where the midnight sun shimmers on heart-melting landscapes. Begin your journey with an overnight in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, and the opportunity to visit the Viking Museum and cruise the city’s canals as the sun sets. We cross to Norway now, sailing to Arendal, famed for its watersports, and Sandnes, where you can jump on a bike and explore the flourishing arts scene. Heading west we call at city of Kirkwall on Orkney, to see Neolithic standing stones and go birdwatching, and trace the Viking roots of Lerwick in the Shetland Islands. At Torshavn in the Faroes, there’s a chance to explore curious turfed-roof houses and enjoy a hike to the “Floating Lake”, Leitisvatn, before we arrive in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik.

On this captivating two-week voyage, the journey is as spectacular as the destinations we visit. We begin in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik, where a dip in the Blue Lagoon is a must, then continue around the country’s coast to Isafjordur and Akureyri, to discover remote communities and admire pristine natural landscapes. Two days at sea offer a chance to unwind fully as we head to the Arctic town of Longyearbyen, cradled by mountains and glaciers, where whales swim in the fjord and reindeers are a common sight. Returning south to Norway, we call at Honningsvag, the northernmost point of mainland Europe, see the white-sand beaches of Leknes, and explore the historic maritime port of Bergen. The Norwegian capital, Oslo, marks the end of an extraordinary voyage.
