FOOD & BEVERAGE One of the Food & Beverage Team’s ongoing goals is to deliver outstanding service. We kindly ask that if you wish to have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dinner, please plan to arrive 30–40 minutes earlier than your requested reservation time. This allows the team to offer a smooth evening to all Members and guests and lets the staff in both the front and back of the house properly prepare. We appreciate and will always try to accommodate our walk-in guests as best we can in a timely manner; however, priority will always be given to those who make reservations and those who call ahead to ask about seating availability. Just as great restaurants do, we strive to pace our Members and guests for a better flow of service. This improves the timing in the kitchen and minimizes delays. We strive to exceed your expectations and appreciate your support.

SERVICE CHARGE REMINDER The Club’s service charge is 20%; however, for extraordinary service, you may add an additional tip under the “Extra Tip” category. Bon Appétit!

Commodore’s Corner Dear Members and Friends of Coral Ridge Yacht Club, As we wrap up September, it was certainly a busy month around the Club, with a lot happening behind the scenes as we completed our refit. The two-week closure gave us an opportunity to refresh and improve many areas of the property, from painting and paving to updates throughout the Club. It was exciting to see everything come together and, even more importantly, to welcome everyone back. We ended the month in style with our annual CRYC White Party, making for a memorable evening shared with our Club family.

Kevin A. Cassell Commodore

As October arrives, we welcome the fall season and some of the holidays and traditions that make this time of year so much fun. Oktoberfest on October 3 will bring festive attire, great food, drink specials, live music, and, of course, plenty of college football. As Halloween approaches, we’ll also have the chance to dress up, get creative, and enjoy a fun evening together at our Halloween Party on October 31. There is always something special about seeing the Club come alive this time of year. Beyond the seasonal celebrations, we have some great opportunities to simply enjoy time together at the Club. Guys Night on October 10 will feature prime cuts, featured spirits, a rum tasting, and a closer look at the art of cigar making. And on October 22, Ladies Night will bring everyone together for an evening of sushi, sake, and live saxophone. These are the kinds of evenings that give us a chance to slow down, catch up with friends, and enjoy the Club outside of our usual routines. We also have the honor of welcoming the Symphony of the Americas for a special Dolly Parton tribute concert on October 16. Dolly’s music has been part of the soundtrack of so many lives, and we look forward to an evening celebrating her remarkable music and legacy through the talents of the Symphony. There is plenty more happening throughout October that I haven’t mentioned here, and I encourage everyone to take a look at the Club calendar and find something to enjoy. After a busy few weeks, it is wonderful to see CRYC back in full swing. I look forward to seeing everyone around the Club as we head into October and enjoy all that the season has to offer. On Deck,

Kevin A. Cassell Commodore, Coral Ridge Yacht Club

CORAL RIDGE YACHT CLUB

From General Manager Dear Yacht Club Members,

Jay Butler, CCM General Manager

October has arrived, and the Club is fully in the spirit of the season! After completing our refit nearly three weeks ago, it has been wonderful to see the Club back in full swing. During the refit, we made a number of improvements throughout the property, including resealing and restriping the parking lots, refreshing the curbs, installing a brand-new water line, and completing updates throughout the Clubhouse. We wrapped up September with our annual White Party, and now we’re carrying that energy straight into October with a calendar filled with festive celebrations, great food, live entertainment, football, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy time together.

As the month continues, the celebrations take on a more refined—and adventurous—feel. Guys Night On Saturday, October 10, the guys can enjoy an evening of premium cigars, fine spirits, chef-crafted cuts, and expert cigar knowledge, including a demonstration from a master cigar roller and cigar sommelier before heading out to the patio to enjoy the evening. Then, on Friday, October 16, the Intracoastal sets the stage for an unforgettable evening as the Symphony of the Americas presents a special orchestral tribute to Dolly Parton, bringing her beloved music to life with powerful vocals and timeless classics. And, of course, Dress to Sparkle! The fun continues with a night made just for the ladies on Thursday, October 22, from 6:00–10:00 PM. Ladies Night Out: Sushi, Sake & Saxophone will feature sushi, dumplings, Asian sweets, and specialty sake, along with live saxophone entertainment by Debbie Pierce. Then, on Sunday, October 25, bring your appetite and your competitive spirit to The Pointe for Sunday Funday & the Chili Cook-Off, with NFL games, Sunday Funday specials, and a chance to taste and vote for your favorite chili. Tasting and voting will take place from 3:00–4:30 PM, with voting closing promptly at 4:30 PM. Will your chili have what it takes to make it to the Super Bowl? And, of course, October wouldn’t be complete without Halloween. The little ones will have their turn first at the Kids Halloween Party on Friday, October 30, with trick-or-treating, games, and plenty of Halloween fun. Then, on Saturday, October 31, from 6:00–10:00 PM, it’s time for the adults to step into An Enchanted Evening of Mystery, Magic & Mischief. Enjoy cocktails, music, dancing, delicious fare, and live entertainment by Creepy Crawlers, along with contests for Best Dressed Couple, Best Dressed Group, and Best Halloween Table Decorating. From the first cheers of Oktoberfest to the final tricks and treats of Halloween, October is packed with reasons to get out, gather together, and enjoy the Club. Ready for October? We are!

Jay Butler Jay Butler, CCM General Manager, COO

FOLLOW THE DRESS CODE Please remember our dress code and hat policies as they pertain to the Clubhouse. Hats, caps, or visors are not allowed to be worn inside the Clubhouse (even if you are walking through to the patios or pool deck). However, you can wear hats on the Auxiliary and Burgee Patios. Appropriate bathing suits and cover-ups for ladies and similar for gentlemen and children are permitted on the Auxiliary Patio and, of course, the pool deck dining tables. (No cheeky bottoms or sheer/fishnet cover-ups are permitted.) Please make sure to share the dress code with your family and friends when bringing them to the Club to prevent any awkward situations.

Auxiliary The Auxiliary has enjoyed a wonderful start to the season, with two engaging presentations and plenty of time together. We explored the latest home decorating trends with Neill Stouffer, whose presentation focused on color, design, and South Florida trends, followed by a fun and informative look at beauty and color trends with Michael Calvo of Dillard’s Cosmetics at the Galleria. Both presentations offered simple, inspiring ways to refresh our homes or our look. Thank you to Neill and Michael for sharing their time and expertise with us. Angela Kruger

In September, the Auxiliary gathered for our first meeting of the season, where we welcomed the

President

2027–2029 Board Members and enjoyed a special presentation by Patricia Zieler. Thank you to Patricia and everyone who joined us for a wonderful afternoon together.

Autumn is here, and the Auxiliary is stepping into a very busy season. In October, we will welcome a professor from Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Joana Figueiredo, who will explain the important work being done to save our coral reefs. With our reefs in dire need, this presentation will help us understand the challenges they face and how each of us can support preservation efforts.

November brings one of our most anticipated events of the year — our Mamma Mia–inspired Fashion Show 2026 on November 11th. It will be a fresh, fun, feel-good day of fashion, filled with bright colors, upbeat energy, and styles designed to make you smile. Fashions will include selections from Lilly, Tommy Bahama, Melani, Vince Camuto, Gianni Bini, Psycho Bunny, Southern Tides, and more, all proudly presented by Dillard’s. The day will also feature a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, boutique shopping, and plenty of cheerful camaraderie — a lively fall celebration of fashion and friendship. Wear something colorful — a bright splash of color will make the whole day even more vibrant and fun. Reservations are now open.

Auxiliary

Thank You! The Auxiliary is such a special place. We laugh together, we work together, and we give back to the club that brought us all together. And every year, I’m amazed by how many of you volunteer for the fashion show. Truly — the enthusiasm is so strong I’m convinced some of you have been practicing your runway walk in the kitchen. No judgment. We’ve all done it. This year, we are especially grateful for the hard work of so many dedicated individuals. Chairperson Patty Sheerin leads with grace, energy, and the patience of a saint. Re and Tony Torres and Gene Monaco are the steady hands keeping everything upright — including me. Courtney Groome handles finance and is creating a silent auction so irresistible people will bid before they even knew what they were bidding on. Sue Tidswell sprinkles her boutique magic everywhere. Jodi Dumas keeps the 50/50 raffle moving like a well‑oiled machine. Al and Mercy Padron bring calm, support, and programming finesse. Sue McNamara ensures consistency and ease to reservations, making sure every detail falls perfectly into place. Our tech‑savvy Kate and Brent Nelson, will keep the energy high, and of course, our extraordinary master of ceremony, Neill Stouffer, steering the show with charm, humor, and just enough mischief to keep us on our toes. But there is one group that deserves a special spotlight: OUR MODELS. They are sometimes forgotten, but they are truly the heart of the show. Yes, we could hire professional models… but where’s the fun in that? This is the Yacht Club — a community of friends, a circle of supporters, and a place where we proudly say, “Sure, I’ll walk the runway… how hard can it be?” Our models step forward with courage, humor, and heart. You strut your stuff, smile through the nerves, and make the event intimate, joyful, and unforgettable. With warmest thanks to our female models: Renee Bailey, Katy Carter, Deb Gill, Keryn Hughes, Denise La Marca, Marla La Porta, Wendy Mervis, Pam Riccio, Pam Schwier, and Molly Wilson. And, our male models: Bruce Harshman, Alan Hogan, Chris Lunsford, George Mallinckroft, Chad Scalf, Paul Sheerin, Steven Walsh, Bill Wilson and Brent Nelson Thank you for bringing your spirit, your confidence, and your joy to the runway. You will make this event truly ours — and you will make it fun. And in true Mamma Mia fashion, let’s keep the friendships glowing, the laughter loud, and the courage high — because when the spotlight hits, we don’t just walk… we channel our inner Dynamos and give Fort Lauderdale the kind of runway moment that would make the Greek islands proud. So here’s to the sparkle, the sass, the sequins, and the sheer bravery of saying, “Sure, I’ll model!” The show goes on, the music keeps playing, and—Mama Mia—here we go again. Angela Kruger

REMEMBERING VETERANS Veterans Day is an official U.S. federal holiday observed annually on November 11 to honor all military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The holiday began as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919, marking one year since the temporary end of fighting in World War I. Major fighting ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. Congress officially changed the name to Veterans Day in 1954 after World War II and the Korean War to honor veterans of all conflicts, not just World War I. It pays tribute to every person who wore the military uniform, whether they served in times of war or peace. While it remembers all who served, living and deceased, the day places a special focus on thanking living veterans. Come join us on Saturday November 7 for a Veteran Day Celebration Dinner.

CRYC Sailing & Water Sports Foundation We enjoyed another successful summer sailing camp this year in partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale. Although attendance was somewhat lower than in previous years, we understand that a number of other summer programs experienced similar declines in participation this season. Our first two-week session reached full enrollment with 12 young sailors. The second session welcomed eight participants, and six sailors attended our third session. Despite the smaller numbers, the program was unquestionably a success. Once again, we were able to give young people the opportunity to experience sailing—an opportunity that many of them might not otherwise have had. An important part of our mission continues to be making sailing accessible regardless of a family's financial circumstances, and many of this summer's participants were able to attend through full scholarships. Unfortunately, we did not receive sufficient participation for our fourth session, which had been planned specifically for CRYC members, and we made the decision to cancel that session. As we look ahead to next summer, we plan to make several adjustments designed to encourage greater participation, including the possibility of offering one-week sessions, which may make it easier for families to fit sailing camp into their summer schedules.

Bob Epstein

The success of these programs depends upon your continued support—through your attendance at Foundation functions and, of course, through your generous donations. We have several exciting events coming up, and I hope you will join us. Epicurean Dinner. As always, we will hold our annual Epicurean Dinner, this year scheduled for Thursday evening, November 12, 2026, in the Commodore's Lounge. Guests will enjoy complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, live music, a gourmet dinner, and complimentary wine. It is truly a wonderful evening for a great cause. Attendance is limited to only 40 guests, and at the time of this writing there are just six reservations remaining. Treat yourself to a great evening while supporting your Foundation. If you plan to attend, I encourage you to make your reservation soon. Foundation Day. Foundation Day will be held on Sunday, November 8. As in past years, everyone is welcome. This will be an outdoor event at the Pointe, Sunrise Bay, and the Sailing Center. Come watch the kids sail, enjoy the water toys and live music, and spend some time with fellow members and friends. Foundation Day is also an opportunity to learn more about the Foundation, the programs we support, and our continuing mission to introduce young people to sailing and the enjoyment, responsibility, confidence, and friendships that come with it.

Party with a Purpose. Looking further ahead, please mark your calendars for our major annual fundraising event, Party with a Purpose, scheduled for Saturday evening, March 6, 2027, in the Main Dining Room. As always, the evening will begin with a one-hour cocktail party featuring hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, followed by an elegant dinner with complimentary wine. A live four-piece band will provide music and dancing throughout the evening, and our very popular silent auction will once again offer guests the opportunity to bid on a variety of special items and experiences. Party with a Purpose is always one of the highlights of the year and, more importantly, provides essential support for the programs and activities made possible by your Foundation. We hope you will plan to join us for another memorable evening. None of what we accomplish would be possible without the support of our members and friends. We hope to see you at Foundation Day, the Epicurean Dinner, and Party with a Purpose, and we thank you for helping us continue to provide these opportunities for the next generation of sailors.

CLUBS WITHIN THE CLUB

Book Club Where has the summer gone? Fall is just around the corner and CRYC will reopen its doors on September 23rd. Our Book Discussion Group will kick off the new season on Friday, September 25th with a discussion of Thomas Schlesser’s Mona’s Eyes. Lynda Smith will facilitate. The pediatrician suspects that Mona’s temporary blindness is psychologically rooted. The suggested weekly sessions with a psychologist turn out to be a convenient cover for Grandfather Henry to secretly take his tenyear-old granddaughter Mona on visits to Parisian museums. Each chapter of the book serves as a self-contained art lesson, with all its historical and philosophical significance. This cultural exposure is not wasted on Mona, who turns out to be a particularly gifted student and we, the readers, benefit as well. These weekly visits broaden our knowledge of the art world, while they strengthen the tight bond between grandfather and granddaughter. In the process, the source of Mona’s temporary blindness is uncovered, too. You don’t want to miss this discussion. Our next meeting will be October 8th, when Jodi Dumas and Shari Kellermeyer facilitate our discussion of The Winemaker’s Wife, by Kristen Harmel. The year is 1940 and the Germans have just invaded France. The storied champagne house Maison Chaveau is rocked by fear. Rumors spread about Jews being shipped east to an unspeakable fate and people in the area get active in the Resistance. A few errors on the part of the main characters risk their lives and the vineyard that ties them together. Fast forward to 2019 and see how the present intersects with the past, when an eccentric French grandmother drags her recently divorced young granddaughter back to where this story started, to learn the truth about her personal history. Another not-to-miss discussion! We meet on the second Friday of each month in the Commodore’s Lounge at 11:30 am. (The Sept. meeting is an exception). Please make your reservations for September 25th and October 8th online or at the front desk and choose your lunch selection. A variety of sandwiches and salads are available. Our discussion starts promptly at noon. We hope to see you!

Friday Colors at CRYC Observing Colors is a time-honored ceremony adopted by the US Navy in 1843. Service members and civilians take part in this long - standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation’s shores from foes. To many, this custom is rooted in a sense of deep pride and is a symbol of admiration. Friday Colors is observed on the First Friday of each Month. 1.

Approximately ten minutes before sunset, as calculated by the Fleet Captain, the word is passed “First call, first call to color.” The honor guard of the day will form near the point of hoist of the ensign. At that time, there will be no services provided by the CRYC and its staff, including the bars, until after the conclusion of Colors and the ensign has been presented to the proper authority.

2. Immediately before sunset, “Attention” is sounded by one horn blast, blown on a whistle, or eight bells is sounded. ALL PERSONS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, within sight or hearing, face the ensign, remove their head gear, place their right hand over their heart and STAND AT ATTENTION and REMAIN SILENT unless singing the National Anthem. Boats in the vicinity lie to, or proceed at the slowest possible speed, and the boat officer or coxswain stands and salutes.

3. The order “Execute” is then given: the cannon will be fired, and the ensign is lowered slowly. The National Anthem or “To the Colors” (Retreat) will be played with the ensign starting down the staff. 4. When the ensign is completely lowered, folded, and presented to the proper authority, the word is passed “Carry on,” at which time, salutes are terminated, and the ceremony is over. Congressional Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on October 14, 2009, entitles retired or former military members in civilian to render the hand salute. Let’s show our pride and respect at CRYC and abide by proper flag etiquette. Flag etiquette reminded: All yacht ensigns should also be struck (taken down and removed) at sunset until the following day.

RECIPROCITY RESPONSIBILITIES & PRIVILEGES OF FCYC CLUB MEMBERS Your Responsibilities When Visiting Another FCYC Club:

Your Expectations of Privileges When Visiting a Host Club:

•

Reservations should be made with the hosting club. Even if the decision to visit another FCYC club is spur-ofthe-moment, a call to the hosting club is appropriate.

•

•

Be prepared to show evidence of your membership in another Council member club. Carry your membership card; or, be prepared to show it on your mobile phone; or, have a letter of introduction from your club.

•

Inquire about dress code when making a reservation.

With a few exceptions, a visiting member of another Council club should be treated no differently than a member of the visited (host) club. Two acknowledged exceptions include: • FCYC member clubs with golf courses are not required to offer golf as a reciprocity benefit. • Clubs may, in some cases, have a charge for visitor parking.

•

Inquire about any club events that may be going on at the time you want to visit.

•

•

Clubs in close geographic proximity to other FCYC member clubs may impose special reciprocity restrictions on the members of those clubs within close proximity. Inquire of your club about any special reciprocity restrictions that may be in place by clubs in close proximity.

Charges of a visiting FCYC member are to be billed back to the visitor’s club. While a host club may offer to settle the charges via credit card, it is the choice of the visiting member whether to settle the charges via credit card or billing to his/her home club.

•

•

Reciprocity privileges should not be abused, including the frequency with which any one host club is visited.

With few exceptions, the prices paid for goods and services by a visiting member of another Council for the sale of fuel and for private events hosted for a visiting member.

•

•

A visiting member of another FCYC club is expected to comply with the host club’s governing documents, including house and marina rules.

Reasonable effort should be made on the part of a host club to honor the reciprocity visit request of a member of another Council club. Seasonal restrictions on reciprocity are not appropriate.

•

Some clubs require visiting boaters to provide proof of insurance and require minimum levels of coverage. Visiting boaters should inquire of such requirements when reserving a slip.

•

It is understood that certain special events held at a club may result in the club being unable to extend reciprocity for very short periods of time.

•

Any Council member club may decline to extend reciprocity privileges or limit the extent of reciprocal privileges to any individual member of another Council member club.

A comprehensive guide on reciprocity entitled “Reciprocity Standards - Q&A” may be found in Section J of the Council’s Information Binder, copies of which are maintained by your club’s office and FCYC Director. 43
