One of the Food & Beverage Team’s ongoing goals is to deliver outstanding service.

We kindly ask that if you wish to have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dinner, please plan to arrive 30–40 minutes earlier than your requested reservation time. This allows the team to offer a smooth evening to all Members and guests and lets the staff in both the front and back of the house properly prepare.

We appreciate and will always try to accommodate our walk-in guests as best we can in a timely manner; however, priority will always be given to those who make reservations and those who call ahead to ask about seating availability. Just as great restaurants do, we strive to pace our Members and guests for a better flow of service. This improves the timing in the kitchen and minimizes delays. We strive to exceed your expectations and appreciate your support.

The Club’s service charge is 20%; however, for extraordinary service, you may add an additional tip under the “Extra Tip” category. Bon Appétit!

Dear Members and Friends of Coral Ridge Yacht Club,

June has arrived, bringing with it the start of summer and some of the best boating and outdoor weather of the year. Whether you’re spending time on the water, enjoying dinner with friends, relaxing at the pool, or simply taking advantage of all the Club has to offer, this is a great time to enjoy membership at Coral Ridge Yacht Club.

As we move into the summer season, I would encourage all members to continue helping maintain the culture that makes our Club special. The atmosphere we enjoy is not created by facilities alone, it is created by the way members interact with one another and with our staff. Welcoming new members, treating fellow members with respect, and supporting the employees who serve our Club every day are all important parts of preserving the experience we value. The culture of CRYC has been built over many years, and it remains the responsibility of all of us to uphold it.

June also marks the beginning of hurricane season. Members with vessels in our marina should take this opportunity to review their storm preparedness plans and ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place. Advance preparation can make a significant difference when severe weather threatens, and the safety of our members, vessels, and facilities remains a priority.

Our Summer Sailing Camp, operated through the CRYC Sailing and Water Sports Foundation, begins this month as well. The program continues to introduce young people to sailing and life on the water while helping develop the next generation of boaters and sailors. I would like to thank the Foundation Board and volunteers whose efforts make this program possible year after year.

Around the Club, several projects and enhancements continue to move forward. Many members have already enjoyed the updated offerings at The Pointe, and we continue to receive positive feedback on the menu and overall experience. New soft seating and the fire pit gathering area have added another enjoyable outdoor space for members to utilize.

We are also evaluating updates to the Burgee Bar, including both menu and décor enhancements, with the goal of further strengthening it as a comfortable gathering place for members. We look forward to sharing additional details as those plans develop.Summer is always one of the most active and enjoyable seasons at CRYC. Seeing members and families using the Club, enjoying time together, and making the most of our facilities is a reminder of what makes our Club special. Betsy and I hope you have a safe,enjoyable summer, and we look forward to seeing you around the Club.

Dear Yacht Club Members,

Another month in the books, and May was full of energy, connection, and great moments at Coral Ridge Yacht Club. From the excitement of the Kentucky Derby and the Air Show to the many member gatherings throughout the month, there was no shortage of opportunities to come together and enjoy club life. The Auxiliary’s visit to the Bonnet House offered a special cultural outing, while the Cruisers’ Toga Party brought a fun and memorable throwback celebration that members truly enjoyed.

May also gave us moments of reflection and appreciation as we honored Mother’s Day, recognizing the incredible mothers in our community, and came together on Memorial Day to pay tribute to the brave men and women who served our country.

As we close out a busy and memorable month, we now look ahead to June with excitement for what’s ahead. This month brings a mix of classic favorites and fresh new events designed to build community and connection.

Members can look forward to the Auxiliary Dance Lesson and Luncheon (6/10) will feature both classic and contemporary styles for all experience levels, followed by a delicious luncheon with great food and company. The Commodores 88 Club (6/13) will feature a lively piano performance and singalong for a high-energy night of music and fun.

For those looking to indulge, June also brings Lobster Mania (6/20), featuring fresh Maine lobster, great company, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, along with the Commodores Steakhouse (6/18) and a Father’s Day Sunday Funday special (6/21) featuring food, drink specials, live music, and a relaxed family atmosphere. The fun continues with the Duct Tape Regatta (6/21), where families can build and race their own boats across the pool.

To wrap up the month, we’ll host a major welcome-style Luau celebration at Loving the Locals Luau Night (6/27), featuring tropical cuisine, live music, and an exciting Polynesian performance. Enjoy authentic hula dancing, vibrant cultural entertainment, audience participation, and a breathtaking Samoan Fire Knife finale.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to another month of great events, great people, and great memories at CRYC.

Spring has been a special time for Auxiliary and May was no exception. On Wednesday, May 13, we visited Bonnet House thanks to the efforts of Club member Will Steuer. We started with refreshments and an overview of the rich history of this amazing House, turned Museum. Then we divided into 2 groups. One downstairs and the other the rarely seen upstairs. Built in 1920, Bonnet House was a winter retreat for the Bartlett and Birch families. The house has been lovingly maintained in the historic style. Upstairs in the main bedroom, you will find the original dress Evelyn Bartlett wore to her 100th birthday party. Furnishings are original roaring twenties style with an eclectic twist.

Frederick and Evelyn Bartlett were both artists whose styles evolved over time. Their marriage combined a creativity which led to a relaxed and luxurious lifestyle of spirited fun. The property consists of the house, a true South Florida treasure, a whimsical and unconventional collection of art and beautiful tropical gardens. One of south Florida’s oldest homes. Mrs. Bartlett deeded the property to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation in 1983. Along with the endowment she left to maintain the property, Bonnet House depends on generous donations as well as ticket and event revenue. For tour hours, visit Bonnethouse.org.

And the summer gets started with our June Line Dancing Class, taught to us by our very own auxiliary member, Joan Gremse, and luncheon on Wednesday June 10 in the Main Dining Room. No experience or partner necessary. Just reserve and join the fun.

The fun continues in July with Tai Chi instructed by club member, Cynthia Tupler. This traditional Chinese mind-body practice incorporates slow, gentle movements, posture and controlled breathing. Improve your balance, flexibility and strength as well as reduce stress.

Book Club

While summer is fast approaching and snowbirds are taking flight, those in town will continue to enjoy what we bill as Book Club Lite. With a more informal version of our high season format, members will continue to gather for lunch and indulge in casual, impromptu conversation about books we like.

As usual, we will meet the second Friday of the month, in the Commodore’s Lounge, at 11:30 am. Please mark the dates on your calendar: June 12th, July 10th, and August 14th. Please make your reservation at the front desk or online. Place your lunch orders as you usually do.

CRYC Sailing & Water Sport s Foundation

As you read in this article, we are about to start our annual summer sailing camp. At the time I am writing this article each of the four sessions is about 80% sold out and we do anticipate that all the sessions will be full as they have been in past years. Each of these sessions has 12 participants and there may be a few slots available. The dates are June 8 – June 19th, June 22 – July 3, July 6 – July 17 and July 20 – July 31. The last of the four sessions are reserved for CRYC members but members can sign up for any dates. If you would like to check availability please contact Mel Austin, our Activities Director.

We have set the date for Foundation Day which will be held at the Pointe and the Sailing Center at Sunrise Bay on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from Noon to 4:00pm. As always, there will be live music, a Sailing Regatta and the Foundation water toys, including our new Laser Sailboat, Kayaks, Paddleboards etc. that will be available for your pleasure at no cost. More details to follow. Other dates to remember include the Epicurean Dinner on Thursday evening November 12, 2026, and the Party with a Purpose on Saturday evening March 6, 2027. We also plan to hold our second annual Boating Safety Course next year and will advise you of the date as soon as it is set.

What an incredible start to our 2026 cruising season! The past few months have been filled with laughter, adventure, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. From our first-ever Toga Party at the monthly Cruisers Dinner—complete with festive costumes, a belly dancer, dancing, and nonstop fun - to our spectacular Memorial Weekend at Ocean Reef. Ocean Reef was truly a weekend to remember. Members enjoyed brunch aboard Mystic Star and Yacht Chip, open-play pickleball, golf, a scavenger hunt hosted by Annette, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow cruisers by the pool or local restaurants. We wrapped up the weekend in style with a fabulous multi-course dinner, big band entertainment, dancing, and a lively Best Dressed competition. A special thank you to Chip, Neela, Brent, Kate, Annette, Glen, Laurie, and Ramona for their hard work and dedication creating such memorable experiences for our club.

Whether you’re a longtime member or have yet to join us on a trip, we encourage you to experience the fun, friendship, and adventure that make CRYC so special.

June brings a welcome shift in pace for many of us as the school year winds down and our seasonal residents head out for the summer. While things may feel a bit more relaxed, there’s still plenty happening for those staying local through June and July.

For adults, don’t miss Piano Night on Saturday, June 13, when David Mann—aka “The Piano Man”—takes the stage in the Commodore’s Lounge for a night of nonstop hits, requests, and audience singalongs. From Bach to rock, from Billy Joel to Michael Jackson, if you can name it, he’ll do his best to play it. Bring your song requests and get ready for a fun, high-energy night.

On June 20, enjoy a seafood favorite with the return of Lobster Night, featuring a special performance by club favorite guitarist Sergio.

Then join us on June 21 as we celebrate Father’s Day—a perfect day to relax, grill, and show appreciation for the dads in our lives, complete with live music, great food, and drink specials.

On June 27, bring your aloha spirit to our Lovin’ the Locals Luau. Enjoy authentic Polynesian dancers, Tahitian drums, and a mesmerizing fire show for an unforgettable evening.

While the adults are enjoying their lineup, the kids have plenty to look forward to as well. Kids’ Club activities this month include Game Truck Night on June 5, K-Pop Dance Club on June 12, Karaoke Night on June 19, a Scavenger Hunt on June 26, and a special Kids Luau on June 27.

Looking ahead to July, stay tuned for our July 4th Celebration Extravaganza (cheers to 250 years!) and a Yacht Rock Night with a live band on July 11.

Whenever you see Sebastian the Seahorse on our adult - based party invitations, it means that the Kids’ Club will be available on that night. So, you can plan your evening knowing that your children will be in safe hands and having a blast.

FOLLOW THE DRESS CODE

Please remember our dress code and hat policies as they pertain to the Clubhouse. Hats, caps, or visors are not allowed to be worn inside the Clubhouse (even if you are walking through to the patios or pool deck). However, you can wear hats on the Auxiliary and Burgee Patios. Appropriate bathing suits and cover-ups for ladies and similar for gentlemen and children are permitted on the Auxiliary Patio and, of course, the pool deck dining tables. (No cheeky bottoms or sheer/fishnet cover-ups are permitted.) Please make sure to share the dress code with your family and friends when bringing them to the Club to prevent any awkward situations.

Friday Colors at CRYC

Observing Colors is a time-honored ceremony adopted by the US Navy in 1843.

Service members and civilians take part in this long - standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation’s shores from foes. To many, this custom is rooted in a sense of deep pride and is a symbol of admiration.

Friday Colors is observed on the First Friday of each Month.

1. Approximately ten minutes before sunset, as calculated by the Fleet Captain, the word is passed “First call, first call to color.” The honor guard of the day will form near the point of hoist of the ensign. At that time, there will be no services provided by the CRYC and its staff, including the bars, until after the conclusion of Colors and the ensign has been presented to the proper authority.

2. Immediately before sunset, “Attention” is sounded by one horn blast, blown on a whistle, or eight bells is sounded. ALL PERSONS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, within sight or hearing, face the ensign, remove their head gear, place their right hand over their heart and STAND AT ATTENTION and REMAIN SILENT unless singing the National Anthem. Boats in the vicinity lie to, or proceed at the slowest possible speed, and the boat officer or coxswain stands and salutes.

3. The order “Execute” is then given: the cannon will be fired, and the ensign is lowered slowly. The National Anthem or “To the Colors” (Retreat) will be played with the ensign starting down the staff.

4. When the ensign is completely lowered, folded, and presented to the proper authority, the word is passed “Carry on,” at which time, salutes are terminated, and the ceremony is over.

Congressional Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on October 14, 2009, entitles retired or former military members in civilian to render the hand salute.

Let’s show our pride and respect at CRYC and abide by proper flag etiquette. Flag etiquette reminded: All yacht ensigns should also be struck (taken down and removed) at sunset until the following day.
