Frequently Asked Questions How did your cow/Heifer earn contract selection?

Either Top cow data was purchased from the National Database (with permission from the Core Data Access Panel). This has allowed us to identify elite females for contract mating candidates. CRV's Breeding Philosophy means we target females that are efficient producers, possess desirable health traits, are easy to manage and long lasting. These elite dams are specifically matched with mating sires to create the next generation of potential industry bulls and heifer calves that will be positive contributors to the national herd.

Or Through CRV’s 2025 genotype request or previous genotyping done through our DNA service, myDNA or DNA requests Purchase offers The offers are included in the contract to show what is on offer if a resulting bull calf is selected for the team. Guidance will be provided when this happens. Purchase offers do not need to be selected at the time of signing the mating agreement How does contract mating with CRV work?

1. CRV sends an email notifying you that there is a female of interest in your herd 2. A Contract Mating Agreement is emailed to you via Docusign 3. You sign electronically and the signed copy automatically returns to you and CRV 4. CRV will send a request for delivery instruction for semen and an expected start of mating date (so semen will arrive in time.)

5. In June a mating sire allocation is emailed to you by your Sire Analyst 6. CRV delivers Mating Sire straws as per your instructions 7. You inseminate your contracted female(s) with supplied semen 8. You notify CRV of scanning results (i.e if she held to A.I or returned) 9. If the pregnancy held, next year CRV will send ‘Result of Contract Mating Forms’ to complete

You Notify CRV of the calving result(s)

CRV will request DNA from resulting calf(s)

You send a DNA sample for requested calf(s)

CRV will consider bull(s) in fortnightly selection meetings, using genomic information 14.

After each selection meeting CRV will email you a decision for each bull calf 15.

Selected bull calves are purchased and transported to CRV

Heifer’s calves will remain in your ownership and will be considered for future female mating contracts

When will I find out what sire CRV has allocated?

Sires will be allocated in June, you will receive an email with sire information.

What happens if I don’t like the sire you choose?

If you have questions regarding the sire that has been allocated, get in touch with your sire analyst. CRV has some flexibility in the sires allocated, we want to create a mating that works for your breeding goals as well as CRV’S We suggest you sign the contract now and have a conversation around the sire when one is allocated, (contracts can be decline by you after a sire is allocated) Who has ownership of resulting calves?

All calves born are owned by you. Signing the contract grants CRV the right to genotype resulting calves.

Bull calves will be up for selection for our 2028 platinum bull team. If the bull is successful at making the team, CRV has 2 purchase options available you can find these in the mating agreement that is sent to you via Docusign.

Heifer calves remain in your ownership CRV will consider them for future mating contracts.

What if I have an AB bank with another company or on farm?

There will be an email shortly where you can enter mating dates and location of bank. Alternatively get in touch with your sire analyst or write in the optional notes box in the contract.
