Dear CRU® Campers, One thing I always hear from CRU Campers at the end of each season is that they wish camp could run for longer! Well, the good news is that CRU Camps run every holiday season so you don’t have to wait long before your next adventure. We open camp bookings a year in advance, so you can either re-book on the camp you’ve just loved or choose another exciting new adventure!

Check out our 12 CRU Camps on offer these autumn holidays! This will be our biggest ever autumn season so you won’t want to miss it. Enjoy perfect riding conditions on our horse riding and dirt bike camps, sail and water ski at the stunning Lake Mac campsite, and have an adventure or smash out some Year 12 study at our idyllic Galston Gorge campsite. We have a non-residential Day Camp for those that like to sleep in their own bed at night, and even have a camp going up to QLD to enjoy the thrill of the theme parks! There's a whole range of camps to choose from; and every camper will have the chance to explore the Christian faith. There’s something for everyone!

ABOUT CAMPS With 90 years of experience, CRU® Camps is the largest provider of Christian holiday camps in NSW, welcoming around 4,000 campers a year on over 80 camps.

EXCEPTIONAL LEADERS Our dedicated teams of Christian leaders care for campers 24-hours-a-day. They are trained in child protection procedures, reference-checked and screened in accordance with government legislation. Their love for God and young people makes them brilliant role models. Each camp has a ratio of at least 1 leader to every 5 campers, with at least 2 leaders holding First Aid qualifications, to ensure that each camper receives an exceptional level of care. Most primary-age camps also have a camp ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ to care for the emotional needs of young campers.

ENCOURAGING ENVIRONMENT Our nurturing camp environment is one where your child will feel accepted, cared for and encouraged.

Through activities, leaders help your child develop teamwork, cooperation and communication skills whilst also challenging them to step out of their comfort zone to achieve new things. Meals, discussion times, and the encouraging camp environment enable campers to leave camp having grown in confidence, character, and social skills. Our camps are alcohol, tobacco and drug-free.

GREAT VALUE We work hard to offer quality programs at the lowest possible price. This includes all activities, meals, accommodation, and 24-hour supervision, plus transport for most activity camps.

On a CRU® Camp at Lake Mac, Grace made a big decision - to become a Christian! But she almost missed out on the opportunity to attend camp. Difficult financial circumstances meant that Grace’s parents almost cancelled her camp registration.

Thankfully, the CRU Camper Sponsorship Fund meant that assistance could be provided to help Grace attend camp. The Camper Sponsorship Fund helps minimise camp fees for those families who would love to send their kids to camp but are struggling with illness, hardship, or financial difficulty.

About CRU Camps, Grace shares, “Everyone was so nice. The leaders are amazing and I felt very welcomed and excited to be on camp. Sailing was my favourite activity on camp - it’s really freeing!” She continues, “I’d be so excited to listen to the talks every morning and I’d always get something out of them. By the end of camp, I’d decided: I wanted to be a Christian.”

Action-packed CRU® Day Camps are a great way for your child to make new friends and build self-confidence during the holidays! They’ll enjoy exciting outdoor activities^ and explore a Christian worldview, whilst still going home to sleep in the comfort of their own beds.

CARING COMMUNITY

Our caring leaders get alongside your child to make sure they have a great time. The whole camp eats the same morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, as well as spending lots of time doing activities together, to ensure everyone feels like they belong.

FLEXIBLE TIME

The program will start each day at 9am and run until 5pm. Drop-off is from 8am-9am and pick-up is from 5pm-6pm with activities and games provided during these times.

AFFORDABLE CARE

You don’t have to pay extra for your child to go on an excursion, nor do you have to make lunch each day. Everything is included in the one low price! Also, camper sponsorship is available on application, especially for families with multiple children attending the same camp.

Directors: Sam Jones & Rachel Jones are siblings and have been leading on Study Camps for over 5 years! Sam is working towards becoming a licensed architect and is a member of Figtree Anglican Church. Rachel has a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre and attends St Barnabas Broadway, where she volunteers with the youth group. They are both super stoked to be leading camp and can't wait to help you smash out your study goals!

Director: Grace Murray is a preschool teacher during the week and goes to Hurstville Presbyterian Church. She loves hanging out with her friends and family, knitting, and curling up with a good book. Grace has led on CRU Study Camps for 5 years and is super excited for week of fun and productivity. Grace and the team can’t wait to meet you!

Autumn LEAF BISCUITS

*

Ingredients • 150g butter, at room temperature, chopped • 125ml (1/2 cup) maple syrup • 1 egg • 300g (2 cups) plain flour • 100g (2/3 cup) self-raising flour • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

Icing • 1 egg white • 275g (1 3/4 cups) icing sugar, sifted • 1 tablespoon lemon juice • Red and yellow food colouring, to tint

1. Preheat oven to 160ºC/140ºC (fan forced) and line 2 large baking trays with baking paper. Using an electric beater, beat butter in a bowl until pale and creamy. Add maple syrup and beat until combined. Add egg and beat until combined.

2. Sift both flours, cinnamon and bicarb over butter mixture. Making a cutting action, use a butter knife to mix until combined. Make the dough into a ball and roll out on a sheet of baking paper until 5mm thick.

3. Use an 8cm leaf cutter to cut shapes from dough and transfer each leaf onto prepared trays. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.

Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

4. For the icing, whisk the egg white in a bowl until frothy. Stir in icing sugar and half the lemon juice until smooth. Add enough remaining juice until spreadable. Divide into 2 portions and colour each portion with food colouring.

5. One biscuit at a time, top with small dollops of red and yellow icing. Use fingertips to spread and create a marble effect. Transfer to a rack to set. Complete all biscuits, thinning the icing with a drop of water, if necessary.
