The very historic and famous Island Dragway located in the town of Great Meadows, New Jersey is one that enjoys going back in time. Over their racing season Melissa and Carl Milano make sure to honor the roots and early days of drag racing and hot rodding in the form of various events. All of this kicks off with the annual running of Nostalgia Fling. This is just one of many nostalgia events that the fine folks at Island Dragway take time to put on.

It was the early days of drag racing when folks would come out to their local drag strip to have fun racing their cars not for tons of cash but perhaps a trophy and some money. You see, back then it was all about the bragging rights who had the baddest of the bad, the fastest of the fast, you get the idea. Folks took time to build their rides and then most time drove them to the track or in some cases trailered them in little trailers. Once they were are the track they were able to check out who and what was on hand waiting to do battle on the drag strip. This is the feel that takes part each and every time Island Dragway opens up its famous gates and puts on a Nostalgia themed event.

Island Dragway has the look and feel of the old time drag strips of the day which serves as the perfect backdrop for racers and fans. In addition to the great racing action there was a great car show for folks to check out. On this day fans that went by the iconic Island Dragway Winners Circle could check out the Semi Hearse of John Sbrigato who debuted the creation at Island Dragway even doing a staged photo on

the starting line matching up with a classic front motored dragster. Sbrigato created this one of a kind ride out of a stage coach which was used on the sixties TV show Bonanza, which was transformed into the Hemi Hearse.

With this Island Dragway Nostalgia event in the books fans can look forward to more cool events during the racing season such as this event. You can be sure that Melissa and Carl are hard at work making fans feel right at home while still keeping that great Nostalgia vibe.
