KEEPIN IT RANDOM
by: Vic
I was talking to a friend of mine this week about his car and how he picked it out. It is a great car, I consider it a show winner wherever he goes. He drives it all the time to every show around. Yesterday my mom showed me pictures of her first car show she attended last weekend and sure enough my friend’s car was there. He is using the car to create memories and connect with people. Car shows are more than just showing off the car, it is about the group of people connecting, near cars. You need a car to get there, why not have a cool one? Built or bought does not matter to me and I would like to get everyone on board to that. Our cover truck this month was built over 11 years, some of us don’t have that kind of time anymore. I am working on my soon to be daily driver 1993 C1500, lowering it and fixing a small rust spot and it has taken a month because of time (the ultimate adversary) I need for other stuff. I have other builds I want to do myself but I don’t have the one thing that you cannot buy, time. There are a lot of us that can do the work but have other priorities, life gets in the way as they say. I say don’t let it get in the way, just pay to have it done and then it’s done. If I had paid the right person to do my truck 5 years ago, it would be done and enjoyed for many years now and I can’t get that back. I have an appointment in October with Mongoose Motorsports to get my 1966 International Travelall running, moving and stopping. It is so close right now that they shouldn’t have to do much, it’s just stuff that an expert with a great shop can get done in fractions of the time I can squeeze in. Maybe when it’s done I can find the time to park next to Larry and enjoy the time. See you at the shows! (Hopefully next to my International) ***There are many small shops that do this work as well, some are advertised in the magazine or call me for other suggestions. Hotrod shops always need work, let’s keep them in business. Full event list online at www.cruisintimesmagazine.com

Cruisin' Times Magazine Chris Meyer’s 1965 Chevy Fleetside Chris Meyer is a man that knows what he wants when building his truck. He went to great lengths to make the truck just the way he wanted and did not cut any corners. Owned since 2008, this was an 11 year build. The ‘65 Chevy C10 has the looks, power and features to make it one of the best custom trucks around AND he drives it. That is a theme I am trying to stick with for the cover, hotrods that are driven. This one is so nice for being driven you would think it is a trailer queen. The extensively modified body starts with a 2.5” chop, tailgate welded shut and louvered, rear inner fenders widened 3” with a white oak floor. The bed also has a cut bumper flipped and recessed like a roll pan with bolts shaved. The hood was hood louvered and the hood seam was welded along with filling all other seams, shaved trim and door handles and late model mirrors. The engine compartment is fully smoothed and detailed and painted red along with the fully detailed frame and suspension with everything underneath painted red also. Lowered suspension rides on American Racing wheels 15x8 See classifieds online at www.cruisintimesmagazine.com
and 15x10. A quick ratio power steering box was added along with 4 wheel disk brakes and a posi Ford 9” rear. This sweet hauler is powered by a 454 and 700R4 transmission with cutouts to appease the neighbors or really bug them. The interior is RED and full custom done by A&M interiors in Ashland, OH. Power windows, A/C, killer stereo, custom dash, full headliner, console, custom door panels and tinted glass make this a comfortable cruiser. Chris did much of the work himself and his attention to detail is apparent throughout this build. Last year Chris won the PRW Power top pick at the Blue Suede Cruise. That’s a high honor for a very deserving truck. Congratulations to Chris on building a truck he is very proud of and should be, it is one of the nicest trucks I have seen. See you at the shows!

25TH ANNUAL PRW POWER BLUE SUEDE CRUISE Photos & Words by Vic Garlauskas
The 25th Annual PRW Power Blue Suede Cruise was held on July 2326, 2026 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. That is a huge milestone, 25 years of cool cars and racing at a very historic track. They haven’t gone 25 years for nothing and this year was no different. The show opens Friday and the weather was perfect, no rain for the whole weekend. There were over 3000 participants with cool old cars and more than 20,000 spectators that came through the gates to see them. There were a lot of motorhomes and plenty of tent campers as well, all staying for the entire weekend’s activities. The swap meet section just inside the gate was a lot bigger this year as well as the vendor area near the grandstands. The Women’s World tent rounds out the stuff for sale which is a large chunk of the front of the show. Eric’s 1930 Model A
One of the Cruisin’ Times Blue Suede Cruise traditions is that Roadcrew member Arron brings pie for us and now that may be the highlight of my weekend. Friday was Key Lime and Saturday was Banana Creme. Sorry, there won’t be any left if you stop by next year but maybe you have your own traditions or you can start one. Send us a note to share them if you have one. Friday evening, early registered participants enjoyed a fantastic meal and hundreds of people were served in under an hour due to the spectacular staff at Summit Motorsports Park. The Doo Wop Project played on Saturday night just before the Bader Family Fireworks Show lit up the night sky. Really great entertainment, hard to top that for a summer Saturday night.

25TH ANNUAL PRW POWER BLUE SUEDE CRUISE Photos & Words by Vic Garlauskas
Friday and Saturday on the track, Fuel Altereds, Nitro Funny Cars & Dragsters, and vintage Gassers were burning down the strip! There were only a few shutdowns to clean the track, seemed like less than usual. In between the Gassers and Funny Cars, fun runs were allowed for all participants as long as they passed limited tech. At the end of the day on Sunday, one guy ran down the track with his golf cart in the back of the pickup, …too much fun! My experience at the Blue Suede Cruise goes back many years and it has only gotten better. I talked to a lot of people, local and out of staters and they were all very friendly and genuine. The crowd here is all about the cars and the people and that is what it should be, safe and inviting. I can’t wait for next year to see more cars, racing and what kind of pie Arron will bring.
