Ed Iskederian passed away a few days ago, he was 104 years old. He has to be one of the last original hotrodders from the dry lakes of California and he was one of the original pioneers of aftermarket auto parts. ISKY Cams was the first automotive company to promote their parts with t-shirts and other wearables so thank Ed for your drawer(s) full of automotive shirts and apparel. Ed started a trend which spread to a multi trillion dollar enterprise of promotional shirts, clothing etcetera which has spread to every business and across all products. All your logoed apparel and knicknacks is Ed’s fault. That got me thinking how many things did hotrodders of the early days change in our life today? We know when 2 guys get near each other on anything, they are going to race but Ed made that into a business and promotion which affects what we wear today. We work on cars wearing logo t-shirts because of Ed, Vic Edelbrock, Axlex Xydias, Lee Petty, George Barris and Gene Winfield. I have a logo shirt or something from every one of those names and the list goes on, everyone has merch and some companies make more on merch than they do with parts. We wear the clothes as an indicator of our lifestyle and a beacon to others in our “tribe”. Even the music we listen to incorporates the cars, racing and the style. These pioneer hotrodders made us who we are today, what we wear, work on and aspire to be. We are who we are whether women think we have “issues” with cars or not. We have friends with mutual interests and a hobby that usually keeps us out of trouble and productive. Thank the men that invented the automotive aftermarket, you owe who you are to these guys. Alex Meadows 1940 Ford Coupe Deluxe I met Alex at the 2025 Blue Suede Cruise and he was right across from me so I couldn’t miss it, the beautiful 1940 Ford Coupe. Very classy charcoal and silver with a red pinstripe and lowered stance, perfect. Alex didn’t tell me much about the history of the car at the show but when his son Christopher relayed the family story with the car, it’s what I love to hear. Alex rode in the car for the first time when he was 15 years old and fell in love with the car right away. He always said it would be his car someday and bought it just before he married Vickie in 1974. They liked it so much it became a part of the family. Alex and this car have been to over 750 car shows since he bought it in 1974. This April, they have owned it 52 years! It recently underwent a 6.5 year build that was completed in 2024 so since then Alex has been going to more shows and picking up some big trophies along the way. He drives it as much as possible in the summer, both before and after this latest rebuild/update. Since the rebuild was completed in 2024, it debuted at Goodguys car show in Columbus, OH entered into Street Rod of the Year. It was also a featured car on the turntable in See classifieds online at www.cruisintimesmagazine.com
the front showroom of Summit Racing in Tallmadge, OH. In 2024, it won “Best of Show” at the annual Blue Suede Cruise in Norwalk, OH, and in 2025 took home an Elite 8 award. Also in 2025 it won the Chairman’s Choice, 1st place in Class, and Best Street Rod at World of Wheels in Pittsburgh, PA. Additionally, it has won numerous awards at local shows around Northern Ohio. The car is an original 1940 Ford from Norwalk, OH and is now equipped with a Chevy LS3 376/480HP and 4L70E Transmission sitting in a TCI chassis. It has been given power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, coil over shocks, connected to a Ford 9” rear end rolling on 17”/18” Budnik Wheels. The interior by Hyde Originals in Greenwich, OH upgraded with air conditioning and Dakota Digital gauges. The colors are Magnetic (top), Gray Pewter (bottom), and Chrome Flame Metallic. This high end quality build was done by Altered Motion in Ravenna, OH. Look for Alex at the next big show, he will probably be up front with a smile. See you at the shows! 2026 IX Center Piston Powered Autorama I attended my first Cleveland Autorama in 1985 and the show had already been taking place for almost 20 years by then. The excitement of going downtown and trying to get into the parking garage at the convention center is an integral part of the memory. I think we put up with waiting in line and crowds a little better back then because you had to do it everywhere, like the bank on Saturday morning. The show was incredible and I went to it many times. The Autorama spent a total of 39 years downtown and by the time I went to the show at the IX Center my kids were 5 and 6 years old. I remember how disappointed I was when out of all these awesome cars, their favorite car was “Bumble Bee” the yellow late model Camaro from the movie The Transformers. They know better now. We were part of the 17,000 attendees that year at the first Piston Powered Show and we will be part of the last 60,000 plus attendees at the last Piston Powered Autorama at the IX Center this year. After the owners of the Piston Powered Show purchased the Cleveland Autorama in 2012, Cruisin’ Times became an integral part of promoting the show. Steve Legerski and John Shapiro teamed up to create “Thunder Road” which eventually became the “Cruisin’ Times Allstars” display of cars.”The Cruisin’ Times Allstars” is currently 22 of the best handpicked cars from the shows we attend. The original count was 50 cars when the show used the entire IX Center floor. Craig Harrison has been helping gather the special 14 Cruisin’ Times ~ March 2026
cars since the beginning. Craig makes sure there has never been a car in the Allstars area twice, that means new cars every year for 15 years. Big THANKS to Craig for all the work he has done and still continues to do for the show and the magazine. We want to keep Craig busy so please let us know of any ideas you have on trying to continue this show in another location. It would absolutely have to be smaller because this is the largest event center of its kind anywhere near Northeastern Ohio. The 2026 Car Parts Warehouse IX Center Piston Powered Autorama will be the “Diamond Anniversary“ 60th annual show and it will be the most attended best car show Cleveland has ever seen. The Northern Ohio Car Club Association NOCCA led by Dave Adams will be held in the concourse downstairs featuring 97 cars with the theme being “Super” Fords. Don Moyer and the Slick Devils Hotrod Asylum will feature Willys hotrods and gassers in the Ballroom Blitz off the South hall. 32 Car clubs will be competing for many awards including best display. The International Show Car Association ISCA will have 60 features cars on display showcasing the best cars from all over the country competing for $10k in prizes and the Car Parts Warehouse Gold Cup. to the show, pick them up at any one of their 23 locations in Northeastern Ohio. They are local family owned and operated, something very rare nowadays. CPW are one of the largest distributors of Auto parts in the great U.S.A. and their motto is Right parts, Right price, Right now.
Student career day is Friday from 9am to 11am for students, instructors and chaperones only. $10 special ticket available in advance. Hotrodders of tomorrow will compete in 5 person teams to disassemble and reassemble a small block Chevy engine in a timed event and penalties for mistakes.
Other features of the show are the North Coast Auto Modelers model car contest which showcases model building and encourages young hotrodders to work with their hands. Brett and Rick keep the kids happy with lots of model cars in their display. In 2025 the Krazy Paint Charity Panel Jam raised $48k for the Career and Technical School Foundation and they will be at the 2026 show again so show your support by donating to a good cause. This is their last opportunity at such a large audience so make it the best one yet. The military and first responders will be represented and honored in the “DMZ” Designated Military Zone. Rolling Thunder, The Ohio Motorpool and Military Vehicle Preservation Association and the Medina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5137 combine forces to make a great military display and raffle to benefit veterans.
Steve Legerski, Rocco Bevilaqua, the IX Center staff and all the participants work hard every year to put on the best event possible and Cleveland has benefitted from that for over 60 years. SNOW-BUSTER 24TH AUTOMOTIVE SWAP MEET Photos & Words by Vic Garlauskas
Snow-Buster 24th Automotive Swap Meet I attended the 2026 Model A Restorer’s Club Automotive Swap Meet held at the Event Center at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg, NY for the first ime this February 1st. I arrived Saturday morning at 9am for move in and the place was already half full. There is some chaos loading in as there is only one garage door everyone has to use. They close setup at 1pm which is hard if you’re from out of town both for short setup time and what do you do in snowy Buffalo all day. It snowed during the day and overnight which is normal for the Buffalo area in February getting 2-3 inches on the way there and 3 more overnight. It was cold but sunny Sunday morning for the show which was from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is a $10 entry donation, with all proceeds supporting the Niagara Frontier Region MARC Scholarship Fund. The 250 vendor spaces were almost full and the hall was filled with auto antiques, collectibles, tools, classic and hot rod parts, trucks, toys, and models. The show was full until lunch time as most indoor shows are, shows really never go to the ending time and I was rolling down I-90 by 3pm. It was worth going for me but you’ll just have to check it out for yourself next February in Buffalo, they don’t call it the Snow Buster for nothing. See you at the shows! 41ST ANNUAL LIMA SWAP MEET Photos & Words by Vic Garlauskas
41st Annual Lima Swap Meet Despite a forecast calling for 10+ inches of snow, the Lima Swap Meet opened its doors to a flood of enthusiastic parts finders. Sunday at 8am there was only about 4 inches on the ground and the spectators continued to arrive. It’s Ohio, snow happens. All 240+ vendor spaces were completely sold out. The aisles were packed with parts, collectibles, gearheads, race cars and trucks and lots of stories and treasures. There was over $2700 in free door prizes passed out to attendees, plus the first 250 people received a ProCharger Gift bag. Featured door prizes were from ProCharger, Summit Racing Equipment, Moser Engineering, Race-Gas, Allen Tire, Oreillys and the feature sponsor Sunoco. The show date for next year is January 31, 2027 and the staff of UltimateRacingPromotions will make the 42nd Annual Lima Swap Meet even better by bringing back the 4x4, Truck & Jeep Competition. KALAMAZOO, MI FEBRUARY INDOOR SWAP MEET Photos & Words by Vic Garlauskas
Kalamazoo, MI February Indoor Swap Meet The 62nd Annual Kalamazoo Antique Auto Restorers Club auto swap meet was held February 6, 2026 at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center. The KAARC puts on a very well attended show taking up the entire 60k square feet event center. With over 200 vendors and thousands of attendees, this is one of the best indoor events I have been to. The show was well run and many KAARC members stopped by to say hi and to see how we were doing and genuinely cared about the answer. Of course we were doing well, Friday was very well attended and the show times were a first for me (25 years doing this). Friday setup was from 7am to 2pm and the show opened to customers from 2pm to 6pm. More shows should do this because it was great, I have never done so well on a Friday and it was open for just 4 hours. Saturday was just as busy and seemed to end instantly at 1pm, which is good so you know nobody missed out and you can pack up. Exiting was smooth and we were in the sunshine by 3:30pm. Totally worth the 3.5 hour drive from Cleveland for me anyway. I will be back next year and if you like swap meets consider the trip. I know it is Michigan but Kalamazoo seemed more like an Ohio town, maybe we can annex that part of Michigan. See you at the shows!

Reader’s Rides Jennifer & Ed’s 1956 Chevy ““Part of the Family”” Our ‘56 Chevy has been in the family since May of 1978. We used it in our wedding, and just recently celebrated our 45th anniversary at a car show. We now cruise to local shows as often as possible.
