KEEPIN IT RANDOM
by: Vic
The Piston Power Show has come across my view at least 3 times this week for no related reason, and different sources. This could be “frequency illusion” which is upon learning or noticing a new concept, word, or object, you suddenly start seeing it everywhere. This happens because your brain selectively pays attention to it, creating the illusion that it is suddenly occurring more frequently. Example: Seeing a particular car - You decide you like a specific model of car, and suddenly you see that exact car and color on every street corner. Or it could be that this event being cancelled is unresolved, or at least unresolved for most of us. As you may have read from me before, I think Cleveland got played by the “browns” and the cleveland city council (lower case on purpose). Politics has been around since the beginning of time so this is no different but it seems worse when there is no recourse. Most of us don’t live in Cleveland to vote these corrupt con artists out and we can’t just open the doors to the IX Center and have a car show. So what do we do? I am considering doing a show to take its place. I can’t do this by myself but I do have some people willing to support the effort. What I need is a couple of things; feedback from you; would you attend a smaller show and a different location? I am looking for a location in the Cuyahoga County area, it’s too risky already so further out is too far. It has to be over 60K Sq Ft, with clean indoor facilities that show cars will be safe in. Lots of parking. There are probably a thousand other factors but we’ll start with this. If you have suggestions or know of a location please Email Cruisintimes@gmail.com or call 216-317-6617 Also, DJ Crazy Dave the DJ from the Youngstown area was in a car accident so if you know him, reach out and see how he is doing. He has a gofundme - “Support DJ Crazy Dave’s Road to Recovery”. Good luck to Dave. See you at the shows! Full event list online at www.cruisintimesmagazine.com

Photos & Words by Vic Garlauskas Rex Bendure’s 1957 Chevy - “Restless” I see a lot of cars doing what I do and my taste in cars is what it is and I can’t change it. I am really into different brands like International and Checker Motors for example so my taste varies throughout the spectrum. I like classy, and well done no matter what the brand and I try not to be mainstream in anything I do. BUT, It doesn’t matter who you are, a 1957 Chevy is just iconic and this one can’t be overlooked. I couldn’t just put any 57 Chevy on the cover and this one deserves the spotlight. Rex’s 1957 Bel Air Sport Coupe catches the eye immediately with the Seraphina Bronze metallic paint, dropped suspension and US Mags Templar wheels. Tons of chrome is what the 50’s are known for and this one has all of it. The insert delete on the rear quarter panels makes it classy but keeps the style. The bronze metallic changes color with the sun and shade and I hope the pictures can show that. I need to take pictures in the sun to show it off but there are so many shiny parts it was difficult not to get the glare. Shines Customs is responsible for the paint and all the other goodness on this build including installing the Southern Performance LS3 and 4L70E transmission. The engine has the shiny goodies and covers to make it blend into the body, smooth and clean. The suspension is a Heidts 4 link rear with tubular front dropped 2” and a Ford 9” out back. The interior has all the best parts and was completed by Hudson Rods and Customs in TN. Rex is the road manager for the Rock and Roll Capital Street Machines club so if you want to see the car, catch him at the Solon cruise on Tuesdays or when they are out and about on one of the club’s trips. See you at the shows! 8 Cruisin’ Times ~ August 2026

DON SITTS MAPS AIR MUSEUM Photos & Words by Vic Garlauskas
Don Sitts 16th Annual Charity Car show MAPS Air Museum I had been to the MAPS Air Museum before but with over 500 cars there this was a very special place to be on Saturday June 13th, 2026. The museum is connected to the Akron-Canton Airport runway system but on the opposite side from the terminal. The museum was open and the hangar was full of tables and food was served by Boy Scouts with all proceeds going to benefit the scouts. The show is a fund raiser for the MAPS museum and they receive 100 % of the proceeds. Also, a special ceremony was held to honor Morgan Iorio, President – NorthEastern Ohio Camaro Club so congratulations to Morgan!
Jack & Phyllis Bishop’s ‘40 Chevy 2DR Sedan Delivery
There were a lot of high quality cars at this show but it was very casual. The Camaro Club had a large display and those Camaros are all top notch. Rock and Roll Capital Street Machines were there as well as a few other clubs. What impressed me was they were all driven to the event and there was a large mix of cars and a boat! My wife’s favorite car/truck was a 1952 M37 Dodge Power Wagon called “Cletus”. It was red with lots of stickers inside and license plates for some patch panels, this was a real driver and probably not very comfortable but she loved it anyway. Something for everyone as they say. My two favorites were a blue Cadillac convertible and a recreation of the “Corvette Summer” movie car. I’m not a ‘vette guy but that car is crazy. There are planes all around outside and great displays inside including the “pod” from one of the Goodyear blimps. This is a volunteer run operation and they do a great job restoring these vehicles, making them work, creating displays and making the museum look great! It was a perfect day for a great show for a very worthy cause. Stop in to see the museum, it is one of the best military museums I have been to and if you can make it next year, I highly recommend it, it’s in the top 10 shows I have been to. See you at the shows!
