Since the beginning of June, the scuttlebutt for the northern Ohio car enthusiasts has been about the IX Center closing its doors to special events, especially concerning the Piston Powered Auto-Rama held in March. The Auto-Rama WILL BE HELD March 27-29, 2026 along with all the other shows already scheduled for the season. That is good news for the 60th anniversary show which will be extra special but also very sad when it is completed. I am sure the show will go on but if it is not at the I-X Center, it is hard to imagine it being better. The new tennant has been announced to be an Amazon data center which needs the 1.21 gigawatts the power station up front will provide their data center computers. This center will employ only 25 people which is what the I-X center employs now. This will also affect the enjoyment of nearly a million people that attend these shows at this venue and 10 out of 12 people on the Cleveland City Council voted to take it away. I would rather make memories and experience life attending a show than order cheap junk from Amazon. I am not an activist but this hits close to home and I doubt it can be changed but if you have any feelings about this and you have a minute, call the Cleveland City Council and complain. Hotrodders need to stick together so let’s make this the best show ever next March.

Orange “Pop” ‘55 Chevy Custom
When you see a next level custom car you can usually tell it’s special from a distance, some cars let you down while others like this one only get better the closer you get Rich Williams wasn’t in the right place at the right time when this car went up for sale, but he made sure to fix that quickly. When he got the call, he jumped on the next plane and got to that place in a hurry when he made it to the deal of a lifetime.
Rick Hudack from Village Autobody in Richfield, Ohio interrupted Rich’s vacation to tell him about three custom 1955 Chevys that had just come up for sale. Stanley Wodzisz, a retired mechanic from the Ford (yes Ford) motor plant in Brookpark, Ohio was selling the 3 cars he commissioned a custom car genius in Wooster to build many years ago. Rich was smart enough to buy all three. One of them, an eighties-style custom, has already found a new home. The black one you will see in a future issue of Cruisin’ Times and this orange one is Rich’s current cruiser and the feature of this month’s magazine.
It is a full rotisserie, frame-off custom, with an underside just as clean as the top. It has a lowered suspension, brand new components underneath, and an aluminum accessorized small block Chevy 350. Power is handled through a TH700R4 transmission and a posi rear end, with power steering and brakes to make cruising easy.

Orange “Pop” ‘55 Chevy Custom

The interior is fully custom as well, with 1967 Chevelle bucket seats wrapped in cream tweed and leather. The real “POP” on this ‘55 is the custom body mods, ‘58 Impala trim pieces flawlessly incorporated into the quarter panels and roof. The rear roof vent, the “pitchfork” trim and exhaust ports in the quarter panels look like they came on the car from the factory and the custom metallic orange paint is a real stunner. The paint has subtle red highlights and is buried in deep clear coat and still buffed to perfection even though the paint is 25 years old. My sunny day shots do not do this paint job justice, this car needs a studio session to really show it off. Rich is plotting upgrades because no car is ever done, so it may look a little different next time you see it flying by you.
Rich would like to thank Rick and Stanley for helping bring this all together. He says he is only the caretaker of this car, and someday it will move on to someone else.
I just hope I am in the right place at the right time when that day comes.

25TH ANNUAL LOUDONVILLE CAR SHOW
Loudonville, Ohio — July 5, 2025
The Loudonville Car Show took over the historic downtown area on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hosted by the Loudonville Mohican Chamber of Commerce, this show has earned its reputation as one of the best in Ohio. It was named the Cruisin’ Times Number One Car Show for several years before I joined the magazine, and now I understand why.
The entire downtown was closed off, with over 700 cars lined up on both sides of nearly every street in town. Central Park was filled with food and craft vendors, flea market tents, garage sale tables, and all kinds of booths to explore. A DJ kept the music playing right in the middle of town, which gave the show a fun and energetic feel all day long.
Best of Show went to a 1956 Chevy Nomad owned by John Host.
The Cruisin’ Times Award went to Mark Pfeiffer with a 1973 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Back in the spring, it seemed every swap meet was defined by wind and cold. Now that summer is here, the theme has shifted to extreme heat and humidity but I will take that over rain any day. I kept to the shady side of the street where I met many cool ole’ dudes, listened to some stories about their hotrods and picked up some feedback on the magazine. I really do appreciate the input whether it is positive or not, if you see me at a show, stop and tell me what you think.
We do not rate shows officially at Cruisin’ Times, but I can definitely see why Loudonville earned the top spot for so many years. If you have never been, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.

The early bird gets the shady spot at a car show, and this one starts early. Gates open at 7:45 a.m. on Father’s Day, so if you want to park under a tree, plan to be up with the sun.
We rolled in around 10 a.m., which felt like a fair Father’s Day start time to me, and the show was already in full swing. The German food was sizzling, the beer was flowing, the grass field was packed with cars, and the spectator lot was overflowing. Luckily, we found a spot and jumped right into taking pictures of some excellent rides.
The DJ had the place rockin’, and even though it was hot and humid because the rain had just ended a few hours before. I’ve attended this show many times, but now as a magazine owner, I see it through a new lens. You start to notice how smoothly it runs and how much fun everyone is having.
I’ve brought my kids to this show every time I’ve gone. From pushing a stroller to being old enough to drink a beer with me, this show has been a great Father’s Day tradition. If you are looking for something fun to do on Father’s day, this is a great choice. Good food, great cars, and a relaxed atmosphere make for the perfect start to the day.
